Zeiss Diascope 65 T* FL spotting scope value?

I know someone who wants to sell a Zeiss Diascope 65 T*FL with a variable 15-45 angled eyepiece. It comes with a padded multiple zipper protective cover that stays on the scope when mounted on a tripod. He says they cost about $2500+ now. He further states the price on the box is $1299.99.

What are these scopes going for used? From the researched I have done I have not been able to find any used ones , so it' s hard for me to figure out what to offer him.


Anyone have a estimate of the value of one of these scopes? I'm interested in making him an offer.

I paid $1600 for mine, same set up you describe, slightly used, but without the cordura cover. That cost another $100 from B&H. After comparing to my Leica 77, the Zeiss stayed. Comparable optics in a smaller pkg.

When they discontinued the green body and went to the newer black body with locking eyepiece I was seeing the older style go for $1200 on clearance, they were bought up fast at that price. I would say $1400 is a good used price and is $1000 off original retail.
I have one and it's an excellent piece of glass.
