seriously though, the zeiss webpage does show a few tactical style bolt guns and adjustable cheek pieces.
the semi thing, and the lack of dead animals is very believable. they have a huge customer base of other industries beyond the shooting sports, and are likely bowing to pressure. Disappointing, but totally predictable for the new German mindset.

Here in Austria the hunting crowd (especially the older generations) does not want anything to do with us recreational shooters. Even when we they tried to tighten gun laws and we were collecting signatures, the hunters generally ignored the issue because they "do not need semi-autos to hunt" and "why do you need an assault rifle?"
So those guidelines would not surprise me at all if they want to cater to that market.

That is not completly true though. Hunters are looking desperately for newcomers but the problem is the hunting license is quite a barrier to get over, so it scares many away. But once you have it you'll be welcomed with open arms.

You can walk into a Swaro crystal store and the employees will tell you that you’re nuts when you tell them the company they work for makes rifle optics. No doubt Zeiss likely has similar divisions.

As you say it’s both and it differs between countries. But a majority of hunters are old and they don’t like “bad black rifles”. They like young hunters to join as long as they don’t have any “evil rifles”. PRS shooting tries to evolve but are often frowned on at ranges. The hunting associations are trying to self censor anything that’s not traditional bolt action rifles with wooden stocks. We are some that tries to get a more modern view on hunting and shooting but most of Europe are woke antigun liberals that like to be ruled by globalists.

That was my thought exactly, new head of marketing coming over from scientific or metallurgy divisions. Zero clue or fucks given about rifle optics, honestly Zeiss could drop this division just like Nikon did and never miss a beat.

It's an internal email. More likely true than not, IMO. This change to marketing doesn't mean much, but there may be a reason. It would not prevent me from buying just because they don't want to show that on their marketing.

Only the US has a 2nd Amendment. It is VERY unique. Other countries have no idea the struggle and culture we have to preserve the 2A. Just like we assume everyone understands that there is a 2A, they assume that everyone is subject to the whims of government when it comes to firearms. They are trapped by their bureaucrats who give them crazy regs and probably live in fear of the next crazy law that impacts their business. Or worse, have no idea what 2A Freedom means.
Why did people come to America? TO escape the BS they left behind (primarily in Europe). Europe today is better than Europe 300, 200, even 100 years ago (Yes 100 years ago MOST of Europe was still a Monarchy), but it is no means American. Meanwhile we've had 250 years of a republic--mostly isolated from the rest of the world and developed our own culture. Its important to remember why American Culture is unique.
