Rifle Scopes Zero stops for SWFA Super Sniper Scopes

This is essentially the same way vortex does their zero stop and works just fine. Yeah its not as fancy and nice ass some of the higher end scopes but it works fine. The SWFA scope are just as stout as vortex so I really dont see how the turrets would be damaged as long as you didnt abuse them. Id like a set for my 3-15 and 20x mrad once you get a pricing structure lined out.

We've decided to fill the need directly for those who are anxious to have a set. We haven't worked out the final distribution plan yet, but so many have asked to buy right away that we think we should sell a few while all that gets put into place.

As of right now, we have a sets only for the fixed power scopes with milrad turrets, the 3-15 FFP, and any others that have the same size turrets. The sets for moa turrets and the 5-20 are still coming.

The price is $20 shipped CONUS. PM me to purchase. We'll do Paypal and checks for now.

I'd doubt anything could be damaged by using these. Especially if you know they're in there and don't keep mindlessly trying to crank the turret down. I never pushed hard on a NF or Premier turret to see how stout the zero-stop is. Anyone that's seen or read about the 2010 International Sniper Comp will recall that one of the members of the winning team (Ed Homeyer - SFC Edward Homeyer | HorusVision's Blog) had a broken zero stop on his NF.

It's also cool that SWFA is open to testing these out and not just having some kneejerk negative reaction. As one of the posters mentioned, it hasn't been on their feature list because they're trying to keep prices down...sometimes to a fault. In fact, as a happy SS owner, I'd pay a couple hundred more for an SS 3-15 with HD glass and lower turrets like the SS 3-9 has.

We need someone to measure how far the turret moves vertically with one revolution of the knob on an MOA fixed power scope. Anyone with a caliper and the proper scope willing to give us a hand?

I gladly would if I was any where near the house.. Sadly I'm 2400 miles away.. Hopefully someone can oblige.

When the MOA/Fixed are ready, PM me. I need a set. SWFA is crazy if they don't market these for you.

This on both accounts^^

I have calipers and a 3-9 in hand, would it help if I measured on this scope for you? What exactly do you need? I could most likely get you something by the end of this week.

If so I would most likely be in for the 3-9 and a fixed mrad 12x. Thanks

Ben

Any update on price yet?

Gots to read back a little..

There was a forum member here making kits like these for Leupolds some years back. If memory serves there was an issue with damaging, or possibly damaging the adjustment turrets by using shims this way. It may have been only in cases where someone accidentally cranked on the turret after it had already bottomed out, or damage after repeated bottoming out. I don't think Leupold approved of the use of shims this way in their scopes. My memory is a little fuzzy, so I could be wrong. Just wanted to throw out a word of caution. I'm hoping that these play well with the SWFA SS 5-20.

Actually it was Nightforce that flipped out and voided people's warranties for using the shims. I'm sure it wasn't because NF had a zero stop in the pipeline ;)

Did anyone ever figure out if the shims would work for a Sightron S3?

They will fit a sightron. The question would be if they match the turns of the SS. I'm using 1/32" thick washers on my sightron right now and each washer take up over a half turn. I haven't had time to take exact measurements but I will report back.

Let me know when you figure out what one revolution equals. This sounds like it might be very close to the fixed SWFA thickness.

We got double verification today that the 5-20 kits work. For those that have bought a set for the 5-20, they will be shipping Wednesday or Thursday. Material will be here tomorrow.
Fixed and 3-15 sets are complete and will be in Tim's hands tomorrow afternoon. We will get them packaged and ready to ship after that.

Thanks again for all the interest. SWFA is testing the fixed and 3-15 prototype set now.

.031" thick washer is 37 clicks on a Sightron 6-24x50 FFP mil/mil scope. There are 50 clicks to a turn. The inside diameter of the turret cap is 1.04" and the outside of the turret post is around .36".

How many, if any, do you have to stack to fill the dead space in the cap? My math shows .041" equals one revolution.

I think it's closer to .042". I think the dead space in the cap is a little over one washer but I don't know for sure. I just stacked the washer until I got less that one revolution below zero and then I used foil tape(total hack) to fill in the rest.

I came up with about the same measurement tonight...I also have the FFP but mine is MOA.

Do I need to count the clicks for comparison?
