So I finally made the jump to big bore rifle. I decided on an mrad from Barrett. Here's my question: First what is a good zero distance? (I was thinking 300 yards) I am assuming it would be a good idea to use factory loads before I rezero to my custom loads. Also does anyone have a good recipe for the Barnes lrx 265 gr and tsx 185gr? Oal numbers for the mrad would be appreciated.

Thank you.

UP... Fine tune it at 100 and play from there. Too EXPENSIVE to waste ammo

I had one....loved and hated it at the same time.

From what i've gathered, 300gr Scenar Lapua or 250gr Hornaday BTHP is the best without breaking your bank. But by far 300gr is where you get the bang for your buck, anything below 250 at the range and you're wasting your time/money.

I've got a velocity [nf] scope on mine. Zero'd at 200yd.and its good out to 600[range limited to 600]. I have a love/hate relationship w/mine.some days its good, some days, not soo much.........d-1

Zero it for no less then 200, I would even say 300. A .338 doesn't stabilize until a few hundred yard so why would you ever shoot it, let alone zero it for 100 yards. For OAL of a round, measure the inside of your magazine and use something just under that.
