Learned most I know to date about Precision Rifles here, Sniper’s Hide is a great resource. Thought I would enjoy the sport and purchased a complete setup (after extensive research) with all the bells and whistles (in my price range). After two years of having it in my safe and only going out to shoot three times I come to realization it’s not going to stick. The range is an hour away and with three little ones at home, hard to get a permission slip. I have been shooting Trap a lot more (once a week) and want to use the money to buy a nicer shotgun for ATA competitions. Considering keeping the barrel and put on a different chassis with smaller scope for hunting.

I built this rifle to hunt out west and got the rifle in early September so didn’t have time to properly get DOPE or work up a load and can’t justify keeping it not knowing when I’ll be back out west. This summer I've had three different packs of dogs on the ranch. Usually there are just 2-3 dogs each time. I get them on my game cameras at least twice per week, often three times. Ive had up to five at a time on camera though.

I've caught a couple of them out in the open before, but have always come up with an excuse to let them live. My wife is a Veterinarian, and I'm a dog lover...no desire to shoot dogs (usually). Ive asked all the neighbors, and nobody within a mile owns any dogs like the ones I have photos of. Can't trap, don't want to catch calves.

However my deer have all but disappeared, and my cattle are getting spooked by the dogs. So I've made the decision to regretfully start thinning them out.

This evening I walked outside and immediately noticed my cows two pastures over bawling (a pissed off cow has a distinct sound). I also heard dogs barking. This is my current calving pasture, so I have even more at stake here.

I grabbed the kids and an AR and hauled ass over there on my SxS. Sure enough, five dogs entertaining themselves by running my cows. I headed the dogs off, jumped out of the Ranger after telling the girls to cover their ears and got to work.

Hitting a running dog offhand is harder than I thought, but I reduced the group from five to two by the time they made it to cover ~75 yards later. No collars, no way to tell who they belonged to or anything. They are now stacked like hogs, awaiting to feast the buzzards.

My six and three year old had to watch it too (not leaving them alone in the house). Not real happy about that either.

I still can't find any of my newborn calves. There are some wooded areas in that pasture, so I'm hoping that maybe they went and hid in there...but I've got some searching to do tomorrow.

I guess this is some sort of soapbox PSA, but if you have dogs, please keep them tethered. I am more than a bit irritated about having to do what I did. However I'm at the point now where I'll treat every stray like a coyote.

Was killing a couple minutes at walmart waiting for the pharmacy to open and this looked pretty sweet.

Looks to have about a 50 yard range, so 22 rifles ar conversions and pistols.
Anybody else have moving targets? Any better ideas than playing cards on top?

So as I made mention in another thread im getting a big increase in neck runout. Im only seeing the jump from .001 (after full length sizing) to in some cases .010+ after sizing the necks via a collet and gauge pins.
So whats the best way to go about trimming the OD to get back to the more concentric neck before I set the neck tension?

I'm I'm the market for a budget spotting scope. I know the whole buy once cry once thing but this will only be used a few times a year. I would love to have one with a retical or one I can add a retical to but it's not a absolute must. The 3 I have been looking at is the Bushnell legend tactical 15-45X60, sightmark latitude tactical 15-45x60, both of those have reticals but also have been looking at the Hawke endurance HD 14-45x60. Let me know if there are any better options in this up to 600 price range or if u have tried any of the ones mentioned.

I am just about out of my cleaning liquids and am wondering what you guys like, that works. I usually buy in quantity so the last time I purchased liquids was more than 15 years ago. What new stuff works??
I'm having difficulty removing copper from several used guns that I bought as well as some old standbys are giving me grief trying to get the moly, from the coated bullets, out.
Sweets has been my go to for a long time as well as Gunslick Foaming Bore Cleaner spray. Does anything work better?
