There May Be Hope With Teachers Like Her

This young teacher has come up with a way to address the issue with kids not understanding how their classmates are different but they're all the same.

Bombing at Kabul

Soldiers injured in the attack.

Where does this lead??

1) POTUS starts the largest deportation event in history?
2) ASGH??
3) Legal battles on both sides just make others rich??
4) The GOV facilities used thru out the USA housing women/children/families are just going to open the doors??

It seems as with all/any children or adults currently in any sort of GOV facility the buses should soon to start heading South. But then who in the GOV would create such an order? Would they just let them walk out the door....yea....we know how this is going to play out.

first timer PRS build guidance

Hey all-

So I’m new to rifles and am looking to build a semi precision rifle, (just as a new hobby and for my own enjoyment).
I started to look a complete builds like the Howa HCR but have decided to build something custom. Again, this is just for my own enjoyment but I would like to set a goal to be able to shoot 1000-1400yds in 6.5 Creedmoor. I’m also trying not to break the bank on this but I do want something solid.

Here are the main components I’m looking at:

Howa 1500
Tikka T3x
KRG Bravo
KRG X-Ray
MDT XRS
MDT LSS
MDT TAC21

Any input here is appreciated. I do have a few newbie questions that may seem elementary to you all but would sure clear up a lot of questions I have.

1. I’m assuming I’m going to just have to buy a complete rifle to drop into one of those chassis’. If I do end up buying a complete rifle, either a Howa 1500 or a Tikka T3x, can I buy any model and make it work or am I limited to certain models? Or are there specific models you all recommend?
2. Can any rifle model, (or recommended model), be converted/compatible with for example, a KRG Bravo chassis that takes AICS mags? For example I’m looking at just a standard Howa 1500 Hogue bolt action - 26” or the Tikka T3x Can I take that and drop it into a Bravo chassis that takes AICS mags?
Any other considerations or steps involved in doing something like that?

Thanks everyone

LPVO advice

Looking for an LPVO and trying to make some decisions. Went to the local shop today and tried out a limited sample and was pretty blown away by the old "you get what you pay for" concept. Tried a couple $400 Riton scopes - could barely see across the store no matter how I adjusted them. Switched to a $950 Trijicon and was impressed but not blown away. The highest they had was a $1400 Leupold VX-6. Definitely blown away by the glass! Eye relief, eye box, clarity, etc were MUCH better than any of the others, but a duplex reticle?! Seriously Leupold?

So here are my questions:
What scopes have glass comparable to the VX6, but with a more "functional" reticle? Needs to have a true 1x at the low end, and minimum of 6x at the high end. (Interestingly the Leupold at 6x had noticeably more magnification than the Trijicon. Also interesting was that all 4 scopes I looked at had less than 1x at the low end - as in I had to increase the mag slightly to match my non magnified eye. Thought that was weird).

Any thoughts on the Primary Arms Platinum series? I like the ACSS reticle a lot, and I'm a total FFP convert, including for an LPVO, but I don't know of a local dealer for a hands on eval to compare glass. Willing to consider other reticles, but strongly prefer FFP with some sort of daylight bright illuminated circle. BDC is okay since this is for max 500 yards, but MIL is fine too. Not really interested in MOA.

Recommendations?

The Crying Game.......... 2 episodes in 2 days!!

So the episodes play out like this:

Like most other ER docs, my shifts in the last few weeks have had a fair amount of Covid patients. Yesterday and today were no exception to that. What did stand out was that both days I had a patient come back to the ER that I had seen several days ago with Covid and sent home at the time. The decision on whether to keep a patient in the hospital with Covid or send them home can have multiple variables involved, but, in general most of the time it comes down to one variable- their oxygenation status. If they are above 90% on room air they go home, if they are below, they stay.

Both of these guys when I first saw them (on different days, they were not together) were in the mid 90s on their oxygen saturation. Both of these guys were in their mid to late 40s and one had hypertension and the other had no medical history other than being about 25 lbs overweight. I distinctly remember both of these guys because they were loud and obnoxious about not being vaccinated and loudly proclaimed how proud they were about that decision and each one stated to the effect that they are so tough they won't get really sick and they'd rather die than get vaccinated. Also, as the story always goes, the only reason they came to the ER is because a family member or friend had forced them to come and get checked out. For some reason it seems really important to them that they repeatedly state that.

They each seemed a little surprised when I stopped their vaccination proclamation mid sentence and told them verbatim, "I don't give a shit whether you are vaccinated or not, it does not affect me or my family." I then tried to clue them in that they are the only ones rambling on about vaccination stuff. I tell them what they need to know and that they are OK to go home to which, of course, they revert back to saying they were "forced" to come to the ER.

Fast forward about 4-5 days and that brings us up to yesterday and today. Dude #1 came back yesterday brought in by ambulance at the very beginning of my shift. He was in moderate respiratory distress and his oxygen saturation when the medics picked him up was about 78-80% on room air. In the ER he was on high flow oxygen via nasal cannula with an oxygen sat of 90%. He was still working moderately hard to breathe at that time. I told him I needed to know what his wishes were with regard to being intubated and put on a ventilator if his O2 sats continued to drop. To this he burst out in tears and is literally yelling/crying with just about the same decibel level as his earlier obnoxious proclamations 4 or 5 days ago. He also asks if it's too late to get the vaccination. Ummm yep, it is. He of course states he wants "absolutely everything done", despite his tough guy statement to the contrary a mere few days ago. He also asks if he can be transferred to, "Stanford or somewhere like that." Ummm, nope.

I admit him to the hospitalist and he gets a bed about an hour later upstairs in the step down unit. A couple hours later I get an update from the hospitalist that the guy has gotten worse and is now on 100% oxygen face mask and is sedated and prone in the bed. Hours later, less than 30 minutes before the end of my shift, I hear an overhead code being called in the step down unit and of course it is this guy. Unsurprisingly, the guy does not make it through the code and had no response to code resuscitation. On my way back down to the ER, I had this sudden realization that I had not eaten all day and I was starving. I diverted to the cafeteria and ate a big sammich which was surprisingly good.

Today, same scenario plays out with dude #2 who comes back in respiratory distress but not by ambulance. I won't bore you with all the details but his loud crying and his clinical course was very similar although by the time I had left the hospital this afternoon around 4pm, he had not coded yet but he was sedated and intubated. Just prior to writing all this about 30 minutes ago, I got a text from the hospitalist that the dude was dead.

Disclaimers:

1. I don't give a fuck if you are vaccinated or not. In my friends group/mountain bike group/shooting group, we have people who are and are not vaccinated. The only time this comes up is when we are jokingly fucking with each other and making fun of people who grandstand about their status.

2. With regard to vaccination, probably the only thing I really do give a fuck about is making sure people have a choice and can make that decision for themselves. That being said, you need to accept and live with the consequences of your choices and not be fucking loudmouths before the consequences or during like the two little bitches above.

3. I have been an ER doc for over 20 years, I don't give a fuck what you think you know about medical issues.

Cheers!!

Hard to close bolt shreds rim of brass

Upon closing my bolt on 300 Win Mag brass, it takes considerable force to see the handle down. But after such, the bolt moves freely (easy to lift and extract). Upon opening and closing the test brass (30 times) it eventually became easier to load a piece of brass. The end result was that the rim of the case was shredded to bits, but still usable. So I took a 2nd case and chambered it and just as before, it too was hard to close the bolt with the same result. The image shows what happened when I closed the bolt.

Is it possible that the extractor is just a hair too long trying to get over the rim while closing the bolt? These are new Peterson brass I haven't gotten around to loading due to this issue. I've checked all the measurements of the brass and they are within spec as well.

The Two House members who went to AStan speak

Here is what they had to say. Ive picked an excerpt that impressed me, the link is below. Makes me honored to be an American and ashamed of our government.

""Washington should be ashamed of the position we put our service members in, but they represent the best in America," they said in the statement. "These men and women have been run ragged and are still running strong. Their empathy and dedication to duty are truly inspiring.""

JESSSSUUUSSSS.......I'm SO glad this was NEVER our president.

Bold Move Cotton....

Two congressmen fly into Kabul unannounced. I would suspect there were a few Company Commanders britches that were full when the congressman walked up without warning. I do like the fact that there was a representative from both Democrat's and Republican's. Hopefully something positive shows up from this little visit.

Cold Bore + Small Target

Hello Hide!

Attaching another video that is Multipurpose.
First being; I'm just working on my video creating/editing skills so I know I can expect some feedback.

Secondly; this is somewhat of a follow-up to the video I posted 2 weeks ago where I shot the 22 case.
User "Doc" pointed out politely that the shot was BS and was only shot from 16 feet rather than the 415 yards I claimed....
Alright alright, it wasn't that quite like that. He really just suggested that I try to support it with more footage.
Off that suggestion I tried to add in footage and audio that gives a bit more volume to the shots.

Last yet most important to me.
Why I make the video and why I shoot the stuff I do.
Cold Bore and my term "informational shooting".
This aspect gets really overlooked.
It's way more fun to buy a purple Race gun, post pictures and have everyone tell you how cool it is.
More fun to buy the newest gadget and talk about how it definitely shrank your group by .0006745".

The down side is this can suck people into forgetting that basic fundamentals and worse yet head new shooters down an ugly/expensive rabbit hole.

By using the first shot of the day with a small target it's like running your own training course each time you shoot.

Will the bullet travel the speed for which you built it to do?
Are you understanding the distortion from light through the scope?
Does your B.C. respond to the distance relative to zero distance?
Calling environmental correctly?
Inputting correctly into your calculations system?
Your physical condition/position on the gun.
Scope adjustment/setup.
Now throw in that Uber small target and rip the trigger.
Shooting spotters then printing a small group "someplace" on a target is not the same thing.
Both have value but I'm trying to rekindle the importance of the stepchildren.
Anyways, video feedback would be great or maybe you like this type of training too?
Hope y'all are well!
