Ring on bullet

I started loading a new load today for my .22-250. I started loading a 60 gr Vmax on 31.5 gr of Varget. I am using a Forster Coax press with a brand new Forster Ultra Micrometer Seating Die on virgin Lapua brass. Max load is 34 gr of Varget. My C.O.L. is measuring right at 2.350. When I started the first 4 rounds gave an audible click when I lowered the ram after seating the bullet. The next 6 did not have the audible click but all 10 bullets now have a ring on the just above the case mouth. I cleaned the die prior to starting. I tried running a qtip through the seating die to see if there is a burr or something with no snags. I have never had this issue before. Anyone have any idea what is causing this.

Xero C1 Pro - v3.30 update

Last week we released v3.30 for the Xero C1 chronograph. While adding some new functionality to simplify gathering data downrange, we introduced a bug that caused shots to be missed.

We have resolved the issue and a new version of software, v3.32 has been released today. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The new Downrange Mode in the Pro Settings can be used to verify or determine a true long range BC. By placing a second unit downrange (ex. 300 yards) and getting the velocity downrange as well as at the muzzle you can use your ballistic calculator to vary the BC until you find a match for the velocities at the distance you used. Downrange Mode will cause the display of the unit to flash black/white when it records a shot so you can more easily tell when the downrange unit has detected the shot.

Firearms Long Range 7 PRC Hunting Rig - Defiance, Manners, Proof

I just finished this up but then had to go and get gun ADD and buy an AXMC, so this gun is up for grabs.

Defiance Ruckus
Brand New Manners PRS-1 w/ mini chassis & 1 mag
Proof CF Prefit 1:8 twist 24" barrel threaded 5/8x24
Elfmann Trigger (can swap for a TT)
Round count ~100
Weight is right over 10lbs according to my bathroom scale. Not sure how accurate that is. I wanted something that could be hunted with but could also take magnum recoil.

Optics/rings, muzzle brake, suppressor, and anything else in the pictures is not for sale but can be purchased separately. Just what is listed above is included in the price.

$3,200 shipped to your FFL from me as an individual. Only trades would be high end long range mil/mil optics, a magnum or lapua bolt for an AXMC, 338 Lapua or 300 or 338NM barrel, and mags for the same.

ZEISS LRP S3 4-25 For Hunting?

Anyone hunting with the S3 4-25? Im building a new coyote rifle (18” 22 GT, McMillan stock) rifle should be about 10lbs-ish.

Trying to decide on a scope in the $1500 range and I do see the S3’s available used in that range. Or is it worth instead trying to find a used S5 3-18 in the $2000 range?

I made my list of scopes I’m considering and of course intrigued by the heaviest and most expensive scope on my list (the Zeiss).

FWIW others I’m considering are the Burris XTR3 3-18 and the Leup Mk4 4.5-18. I would expect the Zeiss to be superior to both but would love to hear from people who are hunting with it.

New Lot CCI 450 issues

Anyone had ignition issues with this lot of CCI 450’s? I had 3 rounds not go off during a match a few weeks back. Two of the three rounds went off on the second attempt. They are seated .005” deep in Alpha Brass. Never had an issue with this rifle until this new lot of primers. I’m going to try my spare bolt next time I go out to the range.

Jasmine Crockett

This bitch is an embarrassment to the State of Texas. She keeps railing against Trump and Musk yet doesn't she realize all the investment and jobs Musk has created in our state? I'm no fan of EV's but if you're ever in Austin, drive down the 130 toll road and you'll pass the Tesla factory it's like 4,000,000 sq. ft.
Then there's Space X just up the road from me in McGregor where they develop the propulsion systems. Then the Space X port in Brownsville. I recently heard a rumor that he is also supposed to move X's HQ to Bastrop from Commiefornia.
Isn't this bitch supposed to be representing the people of Texas?
And don't even get me started on that waste of oxygen Al Green. I loved when he got kicked out of Trump's joint address to Congress!

Art?

Just thought I'd ask about what folks have hanging in their house. I'd be the first to admit that I don't know much about it other than the mandatory classes in HS & College I had to take.

We're now at the point where we're starting to hang things on our walls that aren't pictures of ourselves and thus far have settled on two pieces from the same artist which are below:

Red Art Visual arts Paint Love

Hat Fedora Graphic design Graphics Fictional character

I can't intellectually say why I liked these particular pieces but I did/do and that's where I'm at.

Anyone here know a thing or two about art and/or want to share some pieces that they enjoy/may have hanging in their home?

Night Vision IR Tools - Easy Way to Heat Up Steel Targets Electrically

I've been playing around with these recently and they've turned out to work pretty well if you want to shoot steel at night and don't want to use a propane torch.

I spent a couple years struggling with shooting steel at night with various LWIR thermal scopes and clip-ons. The main issue that the spot where I often shoot longer range is out in the high desert with lots of rocks and sage brush, and unheated IPSC steel just tends to blend into the background or totally get lost unless I'm right up on it.

For a while I was using propane torches to heat up the steel so they would be easier to pick up with thermal, but it was a bit time consuming, I went through a lot of propane, and it often resulted in uneven temperatures across the target and wouldn't last very long on cold nights. Then I randomly stumbled on these electric heaters that you install onto the steel from IR Tools. It's not something you just put on/take off - you've got to install it with a thermal paste, so the heating element is permanently on there with a wired connection to the power source. They've got a few 12v/24v options to power them, including BA5590 bricks though I think that's too expensive and overkill unless you need them going for a very long time. Instead I got the cable with alligator clips and velcro'd some fairly inexpensive 12v 10Ah lithium batteries to the rear of the plates.

I did some initial testing in the garage and used a Skeet IRL to see how the plate heat up over time.

After just a few minutes the center of the front face of the target was glowing
1742772611861.png

Unheated steel to the left for comparison. By 10 minutes the entire heated plate was a uniform white.

Last night I did some tests with a Voodoo-S and detection was very easy, even out to 800 yards. For shits and giggles I did a comparison through MWIR so you can see unheated vs heated...

The heating is very minimal - they aren't even warm to the touch, but it's plenty for LWIR to get a solid color that stands out from the background. Those 12v batteries kept the targets heated for at least 3 hours in 50F weather.
