Remington 700 identification? Mountain rifle?

Hey everyone, I bought a rifle from a guy yesterday and its a .25-06 700. Ive always wanted this caliber and this one was unique. It has a detachable magazine and nice wood stock with the raised comb. Got it with two mags too! He said it was a “mountain rifle”? Serial number starts with a D. Does anyone know what I got exactly? Value? Thanks

Sierra problems

Have heard rumors that Sierra screwed over some of their contract customers, like Black Jack and Tubb, to name a couple. Curious to hear any relevant details confirming the rumors to be true or false. Did they kick these customers to the curb? Causing Blackjack to go out of business. Did they have major production flaws, like shipping incorrect bullets out? I’m a Berger loyalist but have always held Sierra in high regard. Considering dropping Sierra from consideration for any future purchases…

LRF for very short distances

I am looking for an LRF for very short ranges. Mostly to ensure my "100 yard zero" is exactly that, or at least know if I'm off.

I really only need to range 100 yards or so. Not looking for future proofing at all as everything/everywhere I shoot recreationally is known distance.

What are the lowest cost options that will do it accurately?

Sig Kilo 1000? etc?

Thanks all

Triggertech Special 2-Stage Won’t Decock

Received a TT Special 2 Stage from my wife for Christmas and installed it on a Bergara B14 BMP (early gen w/the barrel nut if it matters). Installation was straightforward and passed all of the safety checks including drop tests. I have not adjusted it from the factory poundage yet but I’m unable to decock the rifle reliably by holding the trigger to the rear and closing the bolt on an empty chamber. Sometimes it decocks just fine, other times it cocks and functions as if I hadn’t held the trigger to the rear. The one that makes me nervous is every so often it will release the sear and firing pin when I drop the bolt as if I were pulling the trigger, similar to a hammer follow ND.

I’ve read about Bergara’s having a heavy firing pin spring and leading to higher than advertised pull weight but nothing like this. Anyone have a similar experience/fix? Waiting to hear back from TT still.

Thanks in advance!

Can I dremel a feed ramp?

I know this sounds like bubba gunsmithing 101 but can I simply dremel the edges off on these feed ramps a bit. There sharp edges catch the bullet when feeding. If you close the bolt slow the round wont even chamber. Sometimes pushing the bullet into the casing when loading

So can I just open them up a touch knocking the corner down?

This is an upper purchased here a while back. So a parts gun essentially

Universe 25

This is pretty damn interesting and scary at the same time. Video of the whole experiment at the bottom. Overcrowding is a killer.

1672078208344.png

The "Universe 25" experiment is one of the most terrifying experiments in the history of science, which, through the behavior of a colony of mice, is an attempt by scientists to explain human societies. The idea of "Universe 25" Came from the American scientist John Calhoun, who created an "ideal world" in which hundreds of mice would live and reproduce. More specifically, Calhoun built the so-called "Paradise of Mice", a specially designed space where rodents had Abundance of food and water, as well as a large living space. In the beginning, he placed four pairs of mice that in a short time began to reproduce, resulting in their population growing rapidly. However, after 315 days their reproduction began to decrease significantly. When the number of rodents reached 600, a hierarchy was formed between them and then the so-called "wretches" appeared. The larger rodents began to attack the group, with the result that many males begin to "collapse" psychologically. As a result, the females did not protect themselves and in turn became aggressive towards their young. As time went on, the females showed more and more aggressive behavior, isolation elements and lack of reproductive mood. There was a low birth rate and, at the same time, an increase in mortality in younger rodents. Then, a new class of male rodents appeared, the so-called "beautiful mice". They refused to mate with the females or to "fight" for their space. All they cared about was food and sleep. At one point, "beautiful males" and "isolated females" made up the majority of the population.
According to Calhoun, the death phase consisted of two stages: the "first death" and "second death." The former was characterized by the loss of purpose in life beyond mere existence — no desire to mate, raise young or establish a role within society. As time went on, juvenile mortality reached 100% and reproduction reached zero. Among the endangered mice, homosexuality was observed and, at the same time, cannibalism increased, despite the fact that there was plenty of food. Two years after the start of the experiment, the last baby of the colony was born. By 1973, he had killed the last mouse in the Universe 25. John Calhoun repeated the same experiment 25 more times, and each time the result was the same.
Calhoun's scientific work has been used as a model for interpreting social collapse, and his research serves as a focal point for the study of urban sociology.
We are currently witnessing direct parallels in today’s society..weak, feminized men with little to no skills and no protection instincts, and overly agitated and aggressive females with no maternal instincts.

Lpvo recommendations for shtf rifle

I’m putting together a shtf AR. I’d like this to be my one and done AR. If I have to take one long gun this one will be it. I have access to a 1,000+ yard range,The terrain around me is residential, urban but also open farm land. I’d like 0-600 yards. I’m willing to spend 1K-1.5K. I have limited experience with scopes, lpvos.

I was going to use a reptilia mount with a rmr mounted on top the forward scope ring.

My research has pointed me to these 3 lpvos below. Any input is appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Optics Hensoldt Spotter 60

Selling my Hensoldt Spotter 60. It has the L Mil-Dot illuminated reticle. I tried taking it out and just doesn't fit my hunting style. I've used it for spotting and it's amazing for spotting trace. There is 2 tiny specs visible on the lense. It might just be dirt, however I haven't tried to clean it as I've only just noticed it now. I can get 1 of them to show up if I hold it just right. I need to free up some cash for a AT-X. Includes triad tactical cover and correct RRS mount with locating pin.

Asking $3,800 shipped and insured.

Favorite Christmas movie

I will be the corny old guy because someone needs to be. But I also love a good laugh.

One of my favorite all time movies is also my favorite Christmas movie. And I did not like Ted Turner's colorization.

the original black and white release of "It's a Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. Two important lessons of that movie. One is obvious. What a difference one person makes in the world. George Bailey gets the unexpected view of what the world in his area would be like without him.

The second lesson, not lost on me, is the strength and the love his wife has for him. That is what marriage is all about. For her to throw her pride and image to the wind and go out in a blizzard and ask for help for her husband. She is the rock star, here. That is the part that always puts a lump in my throat. She did not have to do any of that but she did.

But I also like "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation."

"Lethal Weapon" has infected and taken over the song "Jingle Bell Rock" in my mind. I am stuck with the range target with a smiley face but at least it blots out the vision of Mel Gibson's buttocks.

Of course, "Die Hard." "Come to LA, she said. We'll have a few laughs."

My wife watches all the Hallmark Christmas movies during the season.
