Seeing a lot of rifles on the PRS circuit that look like Arnie should be carrying them…seriously though, how heavy do you need a 6mm/6.5 to be for barricade work? I get the stability part but surely you can make a reasonably heavy rifle work without looking like Popeye after the event…I mean how much recoil is there in a 6mm…

For you with CCW permits, what drills you you regularly rehearse at home? I draw, dry fire and practice rapid reloading (with both hands and single handed, both sides) and am looking for other, perishable skills I can develop while watching TV at home. What other critical drills are a good idea?

Blew the magazine out the bottom, blew the mag bottom off. Bolt hard stuck, case is still in there. See pictures.

223 rifle shooting reloads with 55 Hornady SP over 24.7 grains of TAC. Range brass (which might be the problem?), CCI 450s

Barrel does not seem bulged (as in obstruction), and it would be hard to fit too much TAC in a 223 case, especially under a 55 grain bullet.

Barreled upper is sitting at the 'smith's now waiting for him to have a look.

Thoughts on cause? Thoughts on breaking the rifle down to do forensics?

Looking to build or buy a true lightweight rig in 6.5 creedmoor or 308win for mountain hunting. Like to have it under 8pounds (7 would be perfect) with a scope and bipod. Not sure what scope I’m going with yet maybe something along the lines of Bushnell LRHS. I’d like to stay under $2000 but if I get it closer to $1000 that’s just more money for better glass. Here’s what I’m thinking in no particular order:

*Buy a Tikka T3x superlite bed it in the factory stock. Not really a fan of their factory stocks but maybe bedding would help?

*Put the above tikka in a manners or McMillan or some other stock but I’m not sure what that would put me at for weight

*Buy kimber Adirondack. Really light and I like the idea of a 18” barrel for this purpose. It is on the upper end of my budget and my local dealer just said he asked for wait time and they said April 2024…. I hope he’s joking.

*Barrett Fieldcraft. I never really hear much about this rifle but it fits the criteria.

*open to any other idea.

Yesterday I decide to remove the current barrel I have on my Tikka T3. Since my local PRS season is over and I have 2,800 rounds on it I figured it would be a good opportunity to swap barrels and do some load development for next season.

My T3 action currently has a Rock Creek prefit on it and I was planning on installing a Benchmark. So I start trying to take of the Rock Creek and it’s being unbelievably stubborn. I had the barreled action in a Viper vise with some drywall tape around the barrel. Gave the wrench a few taps with a mallet, nothing. Tried tightening and going back to loosening, nothing. Dropped some penetrating oil to go in the threads and then later decided to hit it with the heat gun. As I was heating it up and applying torque, after 3 or 4 attempts the action finally came loose.

As the action came free I heard something fly across the room and it was my trigger shoe. It broke clean off. Never came into contact with anything, the action didn’t spin out of control, it just snapped off. My guess is the inertia. I reached out to Timney to see if they can help but I’m baffled.

Anyone have ideas as to what I did wrong here?

Heard rumors floating that this has happened in Jacksonville and other areas?

Can anyone verify???
