Is it feasable to bring something like a Lee hand press with me, some dies and reset depth at the range?
I load pretty long and im not compressed. So would it be worth the effort to say knock a couple tho off, shoot and repeat? Is the Lee hand press "good enough" to accuratly produce ammo? Granted i would bring my comparator, but if the press is wonky is it even worth the effort.

Looks like I'll be testing just how much bedding matters to my rifle project here over the next few outings to the range. The bedding didn't survive the first 45 rounds intact, sadly. If I were a betting man, I'd bet that the disappointing targets that comprised rounds 26-45 were the result of the bedding breaking/pinching under the action. The ARC Nuc doesn't have much of a tang. It looks like the Nuc's chunky butt just absolutely wrecked the bedding. You can see the pillar sitting underneath the bedonkadonk and with the action pulled you can see its outline. Interesting learning point there (for me, anyway). I also had to clean up the bedding around the recoil lug. It looks a little rough, but might just be functional.

I need a Windows laptop to use for tuning and other vehicle related stuff. Will probably also use it in the garage for streaming music, reading PDF's, etc...

I dont want to run parallels/bootcamp on my Macbook.

I have been perusing the Lenovo refurb site and think one of the Thinkpad L13's with an I3 processor and 4gig of ram is probably good enough for what I need. I dont think any of the programs I will be using are very resource intensive. Will be using HP Tuners VCM, Forscan, and probably another tuning program.

I have also been thinking on this one that has 8gig of ram, better processor(i5 vs. i3) and is touchscreen(I dont know if its actually a Yoga model that turns into a faux tablet or not, but it seems like MAYBE it is). I dont think I need any of the features, except it might be nice if it IS a Yoga model for reading PDF's while working on the car(tablet mode vs. laptop).


Anybody got any thoughts on these refurbs direct from Lenovo? Im not interested in buying a refurb from a 3rd party only direct...

Dell also sells refurbs, but they seem to be more expensive than an equivalent Lenovo.

Sorry about all the acronyms in the title! Anyways, I’m in the market for a new precision rifle for LE/SWAT work. I’ve got my choice narrowed down to a Accuracy International AT-LE (.308 w/16.5” barrel) or a Desert Tech SRS-M2 (.308 w/22” barrel). The rifle chosen will be ran suppressed with Hornady 168gr match, and will see a significant amount of tripod time. I’ve had hands on time with an SRS-A1 and several AI’s but haven’t shot either. The features I’m looking for are:
-1/2 moa or better with factory ammo
-reliable
-factory support for the foreseeable future
-NV capable
-ARCA capable (will have to be aftermarket for the AI)
-portable
-adaptable for different shooters

Seems like you're fighting 2 battles trying to level the gun and the scope.

Why isn't it common practice to put the ring/mount setup on a known, flat surface then just install and level the scope in the mount/ring setup? Short of some major mfg defects, the pic rail on the gun will be absurdly flat.
