LAPD Advises City Residents to ‘Cooperate and Comply’ with Robbers

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) tweeted a release Tuesday advising city residents to “cooperate and comply” when being robbed.
(You rob me and I homicide you!)

The release begins:
Due an increase in violent street robberies, Robbery-Homicide Division has become aware of an ongoing crime trend of follow-home robberies. Suspects have been locating victims in Los Angeles, following them, and then committing the robberies as the victim arrives home or at their business….These crimes have occurred throughout the City of Los Angles as well as neighboring cities. Different suspects have been identified and arrested for these types of crimes.

LAPD then uses the release to outline seven points conveying the department’s advice for what city residents ought to do in response to the robberies.
Point five on the release says, “If you are being robbed, do not resist the robbery suspects; cooperate and comply with their demands. Be good citizens.”
California is one of the most stringently gun-controlled states in the Union. The state has had universal background checks and an “assault weapons” ban since the 1990s.

LAPD

Moreover, the state limits the number of guns law-abiding citizens can buy each month, requires law-abiding citizens to show “good cause” in order to be approved for a concealed carry permit, bans campus carry for self-defense, bans K-12 teachers from having guns for classroom defense, has a ten-day waiting period on gun purchases, has gun registration requirements for law-abiding citizens, has a red flag law, and the state also has a ban on “high-capacity” magazines (which is currently being litigated).
Additionally, California has ammunition controls which include background checks for ammunition purchases and said purchases to in-state ammunition dealers who are approved by the state.
In spite of all the gun and ammunition controls, Los Angeles is seeing “an increase in violent street robberies.”

Next seasons cost.

Is anyone else fearful of how much stuff has gone up in the last couple of months? I actually thought stuff might level off by now but see primers at Midway for around $130/1000. Throw in extremely high gas prices it’s gonna have me bowing out of competitions in 2022. It’s gonna be be bad enough just to plink around with friends on weekends. Just curious if I’m alone.

T-post Target Stand

Looking for advice and ideas on some target stands. My local range is out in a lava flow so pounding tposts in the ground is not an option but we have access to a bunch of tposts and tpost hangers for targets. Do you all have any ideas of good target stands that will hold up a tpost so we can hang some targets. Looking for something that wouldn't be too expensive as we would like to eventually put out 10+ targets. Thanks in advance.

I've got a Zeiss LRP 5-25x on the way as well as a big box from ZCO. Whatcha wanna see?

I have the ability to take nice photos (planned) to highlight glass, which is of course subjective and some folks won't be happy, but that's ok.

Turrets are also subjective.

Going to take it out hunting and mount it in an Adversus mount on my 338 Lapua AI.

What you want to see, is what I want to show you. Going into this with an open mind, and expecting another top-tier contender.

Worst trade ever.

This will go into history as one of the worst trades ever, but the heart wants what the heart wants. I traded my McMillan stocked, US optics ST-10 scoped M40A1 for this Gwinn Bushmaster,

Gwinn Bushmaster

The Bushmaster Arm Pistol was a 5.56×45mm NATO firearm, categorizeable as either a long pistol (under the American legal definition of a pistol) or compact carbine rifle, produced by the Gwinn Firearms Company, and later Bushmaster Firearms Inc. The firearm was a new design, having a tipping-block bolt system combined with a long stroke piston system similar to the AK-47 rifle.[2][3]

Some AR-15 parts were used in its construction and it used STANAG type magazines.[4]

Production ceased in 1988 for the pistol variant and 1991 for the rifle following Bushmaster's acquisition by the Quality Products Company

Lack Of Raw Goods

Went to Vegas on business a few weeks back, it was NBAA the largest aviation trade show here in the states. No body went, attendance was poor. I’ve noticed supplies and parts are getting scarce from my vendors, nobody can tell me why. Something hit a nerve talking to one of our suppliers. He rewinds armatures on stater/generators. He said there is no copper that he can buy. Supplies might come around next year. So with that said, if you can buy bullets, reloading supplies or ammo, BUY IT!!
Along with food and supplies, oil, WD40 anything you use every day. Right now we cannot get, grease, parts or adhesives at the shop.
Good possibility next year will be way worse.
Just thought I’d share.

Business is Business

Hi All,

This is more of a vent session than anything, but why do individuals feel the need to voice their political views during business transactions? In the last couple of weeks, I have ordered a scope and an annealing machine online. After completing the transaction, I've had a thank you email sent to me that has included their views on covid and comment on how the current President is a failure. I am conducting a firearm-related transaction. You do not need to sell me on the fact that firearm ownership is under pressure, but both notes will make me pause before buying from their businesses again.

This is not my first experience with these thank you notes in the past couple of years, but they are becoming more frequent.

Contrary to popular belief, left-leaning people hunt, fish, and have basements full of firearms and ammunition. My goal is to have any of my left-leaning (or right-leaning) friends and family that have never shot a firearm before, come over so I can introduce them to the sport and have them experience it first hand. I have never had anyone leave my rifle range without asking me if they can come back and shoot sometime or ask me later on how they can purchase their own rifle.

If we continue to believe that all left-leaning people are out to take our guns, and only right-leaning people are our friends, we will continue to divide people away from our community, making firearm sports struggle even further.

Now the shop owners have the right to freedom of speech, and it is also their right to conduct business transactions in any legal way that they would like, but when did we forget our parents' advice to keep religion and politics at home?

Lastly, I'm from Canada, which all of these shop owners know because I have provided them with my shipping address. I have no control over US politics, and I only want to exchange my money for goods and services. Do I vote Liberal? Nope. Do I like our liberal Prime Minister? Not a chance. Do I talk about him in a negative way to my friends regardless of their political affiliation? Sometimes, depending on the person. But starting a conversation with a stranger based on a one-sided political viewpoint rarely goes well, and I think we would be better off as a community if we took a moment to stop talking sometimes. I know it would help me figure out who to direct my liberal friends to when purchasing firearm-related items...

Happy shooting, everyone!

Brian Williams to retire from fake news.

I'm sure he'll write his memoirs about covering the moon landing.

I happened to be watching his program in 2015 when he told about his harrowing chopper ride in Vietnam under enemy fire.

Night Vision Holy Cow! The FedEx fairy delivers my GPNVG 18!

FedEx delivered these babies to me last week. They are minty fresh factory L3 with full support. Huge thanks to the TNVC crew for making this happen. I’m absolutely thrilled with everything about them. The specs on the tubes FAR exceeded my expectations and are on par with my other high FOM gear. Factory L3 UF WP tubes.

SN - 34-38.6
Res - 72
EBI - 0.5-0.6
Photo - 2600-2800
Halo - 0.6-0.7
Clean tubes with no blems I can find.

I’ve only been able to play with this on helmet around the house - not live fire yet. I have used it dry with red dots on pistol and rifle. First a bit about me for those I don’t know. I started my NVG journey in 2010 with a PVS14. I’m a .civ guy but I’ve trained extensively with pistol, rifle, shotgun, and use of force over the last 20+ years. I have instructor ratings in pistol, rifle, shotgun and use of force from various places - hundreds of hours of training. I’ve been fortunate to attend training on NVG use as well. I served as a medic on a SWAT team in my EMS days quite some time ago.

Here is what came with the kit all packaged in a hard case inside of a soft case. In addition to the goggle, you get a cold weather battery pack for AA batteries, an adapter for disconnecting a pod and using as a hand held, and cables to match it all up.

I remember when I first used I2. It was absolutely amazing - magic night vision superpowers. I quickly wanted to upgrade and went to duals (sentinels at the time). I felt like the duals immersed me in the NVG world. It was a significant upgrade in experience from the single tube, but no where near as breath taking as my first PVS14 experience. Now on to the quads. Quads allow situational awareness like I’ve never seen before. It is easy to quickly and accurately assess everything in a room and move at a dynamic pace - much more so than single or duals. It is unfair. I would rate the experience as better by far than when I switched from single tube to duals and very close in experience to my first days of the PVS14.

The 97 degree FOV is more than just double the 40 degree on singles and duals. The sharpness and quality of the image is unmatched. Passive shooting is simple with a pistol and works easily with a rifle with a high rise mount like Unity. I have had no issues in standard shooting postures with them. I haven’t had a chance to do a lot of non standard positional work, but will do so when I can. I really can’t say enough about the field of view advantage over everything else I’ve handled. Additionally, the clarity on the edges because of the extra sensors make resolution seem better as well. All of my NVG systems have similar spec and performance L3 UF WP tubes so I know the difference is not in the tube itself. This is not my pic but it represents what I see through the GPNVG, though this pic is green phos. The white phos is MUCH better. The top image is what I would see through my 31a. The bottom is with the GPNVG. The difference is amazing.

I also recommend this video review as Will is much better with a camera than I am. I will say having worked with the GPNVG first hand, that I agree with Will’s review completely.

For the mount, the new version G24 has the necessary adjustability to get the goggle a little further out. It used to be required to buy a special G22E mount to run these. No longer.

Now, onto the bulk and weight. They are clearly heavier than my 14 and 31a, but less so that I would have thought. A single 14 weighs in at 12.5 oz. My 31a weighs in at 16 oz which is one of the reasons I love it. The DTNVS hits nearly 18 oz. The GPNVG tips the scales at 27 oz. It weighs about the same as my 14 bridged to my Skeet irx that I use for hunting or two PVS14s bridged together. I routinely wear those for hours on end without any fatigue. The only difference is that the GPNVG is wider. Time will tell if that causes a problem but I really don’t expect it to. For me the weight and bulk are non issues so far.

Peripheral vision. Because of the two outboard tubes you do indeed get less than with dual tubes. I run the tubes slightly canted up so I can look under them if I slightly raise my head. This also restores the peripheral vision to some degree. For me, the trade off for much wider FOV under goggle is well worth it.

So, are they worth the money? If you want a massive upgrade to FOV and ability to process information at a much faster speed than anything else out there, the answer is clearly yes if you are betting your life on your gear. You really can visually process a room or target area an order of magnitude faster with these than with duals. It is awesome that TNVC has made these available to us .civ guys with full factory support from L3. To quote Ferris Bueller, “if you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.”

Next steps for me are integration with my existing e-coti, and more training and range time with this goggle.

Other pics.

This scope is no longer under warranty, though tangent theta I’ll give you 1000 bucks for it.

Rifle Scopes Tangent Theta TT525P Troubleshooting

Looking for some input from Tangent owners on the hide here.
Recently mounted up my first Tangent and only getting 15.5 MILS (one full revolution) of mechanical travel in the elevation turret.

-Tangent Theta 5-25-56 TT525P
-20 MOA rail
-NF xtreme duty ultralight rings 1.125” (lapped and bedded - 2” scope height
-Kelbly Atlas Action chambered in 6.5 SAUM
-Proof Sendero barrel

I have ran FFP ATACR’s on all my rigs including this one. On this action so far a 4-16, 5-25 and 7-35 all milxt. Was getting much more mechanical adjustment on the NF scopes.

Question for other tangent owners here is how much mechanical adjustment are you getting after zeroing your rifles on these tangents?

I called and had a pleasant conversation with David at armament today. We troubleshooted the optic and am sending it back for them to look at upon my request. He told me one solution would be to put a 30 MOA rail on but that would only get me a couple more mils of mechanical. Super happy with the customer service, armament in general, and the build quality of the scope. Just want to mount it up on a 300 Norma being built and try and get 20- 24 mils mechanical out of it.

Hoping someone might have some ideas or input on where I’m going wrong here.
