Which AR to buy?

I’m in the market for a new 556 AR. With that being said I’d like to buy instead of build. I’ve looked into the Sons of Liberty, Daniel Defense, Bravo Company, FN, Battle Arms Development, Christensen Arms, DRD, and POF. I’ve got my ffl so I’ll be saving a fair amount on the gun itself. Can anyone recommend any other brands that I’ve possibly overlooked? I want to buy a quality rifle and be done.

Top tier vs mid tier lower

Sorry if this has already been asked. I'm looking for someone to take me to school here. I have aero lowers, like em alot. never any issues. Buddy of mine has some spikes lowers. Never any issues. But I'm looking at things like knights armament stripped lowers for over $200. Are they worth double the cost of an aero? Also, what's the difference? Aero and KAC are both made of forged 7075T aluminum, and if the aero lower is machined within spec, why is the Knights lower and others put on such a higher pedestal?

Loudon Co. schools do it again.

SOLD SOLD - GA Precision GAP-10 .308 gen 1

Sold to Fast Freddy. The rifle is gone. Thanks, everyone.

Asking for $2,900 shipped to you but I'm eager to sell this. 20-inch barrel, Gen 1 Hogan, Magpul PRS gen 1, Geissele trigger, Noveske switch block, Surefire SOCOM break/suppressor device.

Everything is OD green except for the Surefire muzzle device and a Houge M16 grip.

I bought it from a guy on the Hide in 2015 and recalled him mentioning less than 200 rounds down the barrel. While in TN, I might have shot 80-120 rounds through it. I only shot Federal GMM 168 grain. I got stationed in New York (where this rifle couldn't go) in 2016, where it remained in a safe at my mom's house. Now I'm in Alaska and haven't shot it since being here. I'll say, conservatively, that it has less than 400 rounds through it.

No flaws or scratches. There is some wear at the end of the barrel from the previous owner using a suppressor. Nothing that looks bad at all.

I haven't fired this rifle since the summer of 2015. If it's not a gen 1 let me know, and if you know the original owner, put me in contact.

Jessie

Impacts on the target support, hit or miss?

Is a hit on the support stand of the target a hit or miss? If its too close to tell do you just give the shooter the points?

Scenario: NRL22. 100 ish yards. 2 small round plates hung on a T post. T post has pieces of angle iron on it to protect the post itself. Angle iron is still nice and white but the targets are shot up and gray. I believe the t post was loose in the ground because it would rock left and right with impact.

I'm spotting using someone else's spotting scope which has a min zoom of 20x. When there is a good hit on the plate the plate dances and swings.

Shooter is shooting and 3-4 of the 10 shots I see what looks like an impact on the post because the white paint is coming off the post. And the post is moving left and right but the target itself isn't moving hardly at all. Definitely no where near the movement when they had solid hits on the plate. I had seen a few solid hits on the bottom edge of the plate.

After the shooter asked why I didn't call the hits. I explained I was seeing impacts on the post but if the squad was OK I had no issues giving them the hits. Shooter got mad and started questioning how you can hit a t post and have the target move too.

I'm new to all of this (my squad was aware). This was my 6th match? This wasn't for points or anything, just a little club level shoot. I wasn't trying to screw someone over or be a dick just what I was seeing. Should I have just called hits to begin with?

SOLD Bushnell XRS II

$950.00.

Bushnell XRS II 4.5-30X50 XRS II RIFLESCOPE, 2-INCH SUNSHADE, LENS COVERS, QUICK START GUIDE, INSTRUCTION SHEET. Comes with Warne 34mm MSR QD 2 piece Matte Rings.

Excellent condition bought in December 2020. There are some small scratches on the elevation screw cap, other than that I think everything is in perfect condition.

All I want for Christmas this year

Since the wife is going to visit family, and my house is basically the 'get away and hide from your family' location for everyone I know to come and drink, eat and then shoot stuff....I have a relatively small list this year.

I know you have all been wondering what to get me, so here goes:

- 1.75 Liter Military Special bourbon to put in a crystal decanter so I can tell everyone how awesome, rare and expensive it is and see if they some actually agree even though its literally the worst liquor on the planet and is overpriced at 9$ for almost 2 liters

- A legit pimp cup for Cognac. Bonus points for figuring out how to get both Louis Vouitton and KAC on it

- A 240G barrel for 1400RPM fun that I'll probably make a YouTube video about and like shoot someones house or a cruise ship or something

- A box of DrumStick ice cream cones

You have like 6 weeks.

SOLD WTS: NIB TACOPS Delta-51 Surgeon action in 6.5 creed

So the fiancee says I'm being ridiculous for buying an MRAD, 2 Tacops rifles, and a PVS-27 in a 12 month span....so...deciding to sell this one. My 2nd Tacops (MF-51, which I fell in love with in the Tacops thread) is about to be barreled up

So.. here it is: NIB TACOPS Delta-51 in 6.5 Creed, 22" barrel. 9/16" x 24 class 3A thread.

Never fired, chambered, or even had scope rings mounted.

- Badger forward NV mount with both side rails
- New, green-T Matching 34mm Leup Rings from Mike
- NIB TACOPS cheekpad
- NIB TACOPS drag bag
- New AI mag as delivered
- No Pelican case YET, but will include one. I'll buy whichever color you want (I assume black or OD) without foam and pack the rifle and drag bag in it with bubble wrap.

$7,600 shipped & insured CONUS to your FFL. I think this is fair considering the extras - And this is a Brand-new rifle.

Paypal f&f, Venmo, or Zelle preferred but postal M.O. ok too.

**Interested trades: High end optics (Steiner M7, S&B 5-25 or 5-45 GRID, NF ATACR 7-25 Mil-XT, etc..), and Night Vision, OD Green Tavor x95, B&T APC10**

Mike R. knows me well and will vouch for myself and the rifle - and he knows I'm putting it up.

Cartridge suggestions?

I have a bunch of components for 308 win, including large rifle primers and powder. My powders include IMR 4064, Varget & Reloder 15.

I was wondering if there might be a smaller/faster and lighter recoiling cartridge, which could use some of the components that I already have on hand?

Most importantly, I would like the cartridge to use large rifle primers.

And hopefully use a powder that also works in 308.

I would also want it to be a short action cartridge.

Can anyone think of a cartridge that would fit these parameters?

Or am I being unrealistic?

I would simply use the cartridge/rifle for target shooting -- preferably out to 1000 yds.

Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper PST Gen II Turret Failure

I have the 5-25x50 with the EBR-2C reticle on an RPR. It has performed flawlessly for the past three years. Yesterday, I went out to shoot, set up at about 400 yds, dialed 2.7 mils of elevation and shot. No impact. Checked everything, shot again. No impact and couldn't se any miss on the dirt berm. At this point I'm concerned. I am usually dead on at this range and there is almost no wind. Should be an easy shot all day long. I rechecked everything, brought the turret back to zero and dialed up 2.7 again. everything worked as it should, solid clicks. Lowered the magnification from 15x to 10x and shot again. I thought I saw an impact on a hill between me and the target. I focused on that spot and shot again. Yep, impact in the dirt about halfway to the target. At this point, I realize something is wrong so I dial up another 4 mils. Shoot and impact is in the same spot in the dirt halfway to the target. At this point I start messing with the turret and notice as I go up further, it feels a little loose. I pulled up and the turret came away from the scope. Packed up and went home. I took some photos for reference. It looks like it will be going back to Vortex. Anyone have a similar experience? This rifle/scope has never been dropped or banged in any way. Safe to gun case to shooting mat and back, that's it.

.

Is DoD contract with Hornady for 6.5 Creedmoor causing the huge increase in new ammo????

I was thinking about building a AR10 in caliber 6.5 Creedmoor. Apparently the USSOCOM adoption of the 6.5 Creedmoor for its new MRGG-A and MRGG-S has doubled the cost of ammo. After checking the prices at Ammoseek , I have determined that although I can afford to build the gun, I cannot afford to shoot it. With rifle primers, rifle power and brass for the 6.5 Creedmoor being almost impossible to obtain, I cannot even reload for the cartridge. So, I am going to buy a complete upper in 6mmARC and use my AR15 Aero Precision lower and hope to shoot out to 1,000yds.
