Excise Tax Lawsuit Information
The National Rifle Association (NRA) is joining a number of other gun rights organizations and an El Paso County resident in filing a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a 6.5% excise tax on guns and ammo sold in Colorado, set to go into effect today, April 1.
Proposition KK was passed by voters in November. It creates a 6.5% excise tax on firearm-related purchases in the state of Colorado. Firearm dealers, manufacturers and ammunition sellers are responsible for paying the new tax on their retail sales.

The tax revenue will be used to fund crime victim support services, mental health services for veterans and youth, and school safety programs.

The lawsuit was filed Monday in Denver District Court by the NRA, the Firearms Policy Coalition, the Second Amendment Foundation, the Colorado State Shooting Association, Magnum Shooting Center and an NRA member from El Paso County.
...The lawsuit seeks to overturn the excise tax, claiming that it violates the second amendment by unfairly burdening law-abiding gun owners and retailers.
"Colorado’s firearms excise tax is an overt assault on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Coloradans and a deliberate attempt to discourage the exercise of constitutionally protected freedoms," John Commerford, Executive Director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action, said. “We are pleased to join with other Second Amendment advocates in this lawsuit to protect and defend the fundamental right to keep and bear arms."
In a statement, the NRA said it is asking for a declaratory judgment stating that the tax is unconstitutional and a permanent injunction preventing its enforcement.
Proposition KK is expected to generate approximately $39 million in state tax revenue a year.

The results of the happenings in Doc's diatribe.

For those with their heads still above water, don't let your state get this far into the swamp.

Area419 - The ULTIMATE TEST - 2025 Big Boy Precision Optic Shootout

Tut tut. It’s because you talked to @koshkin (even digitally).

He has the apparent magical ability to pick up such diseases from distances up to 3km. For example, most every Shot Show he later comes down with Covid, amoebic dysentery, malaria, Naegleria fowleri, etc lol

Just giving you crap, @koshkin, you poor sod!

In 2024 I didn't get Covid (for the first time) until 7 months after Shot Show, but when I did get it I was really messed up. Being 50 and obese doesn't help 😔 - Richard

Vortex RazorHD Gen III 6-36x56 vs NF ATACR 7-35x56

When it launched, it was standard to get one for $2100. Rare is the guy that's buying Nightforce, vortex, Leupold, USO, etc for regular pricing. Everyone knows what the mil/leo or cert prices are. The used prices on all of these is reflected.

On launch, every video on it talked about it being a $2k tangent. It was suddenly stupid to buy an $1800 xtr pro, $1900 FDN, $1800 mk5, $2700 atacr, $3200 kahles, etc., because *for the price* the g3 out performed everything. Yes, MSRP was $4k, but only chumps at Cabela's we're buying moa ones at MSRP.

MSRP hike puts it where it should have been all along. I'm keeping my atacr, because I like the reticle and controls (and color).

The group think and hype around the g3 were real, and it threw a wrench in the
market share.

I never go off the MSRP for Vortex unless calculating the gov pricing which did pring the price down to lower in the $2kish range as everyone knows., MAP price is $2,999.99 then and now. You're being too literal about it being the ~$2kish Tangent that you are referring to. $2kish is a range of $2,000 to $2,999.99. I'm not saying I saw every video, but I've seen many as this is kind of what we do. I'm not in this world casually and I have a pretty good memory (Not Rainman level lol)

Details matter

Let me help you a bit. If you are ok with both reticles and locking elevation/rotating eyepiece isn’t a deal-breaker, here are some links to tests on the two scopes: flare, mirage, low light

A lot of these links go to posts by @R_A_W, but not all. @hafejd30 is in there too. I’ve chatted with both of them as well over dm’s. Since flare control is pretty important to me (yes, I always use sun shades), I am leaning away from the G3 and towards a NF 7-35.

I’d prefer a ZCO or a March, as they reportedly have even better flare control. I love the industrial design and feel of my S&B 5-25, so their 6-36 is of interest. But the scope tech (Jerry) recently left USA HQ and now scopes need to be sent back to Germany, plus its flare control is reportedly worse than the NF. My 5-25 is quite poor in that area.

Plus I’d prefer that the #FOVgate Swaro brouhaha passes and S&B is allowed to uncork the USA versions of the 6-36. Although there is that 5-45…hmmmm

Regardless, I’m not ready to drop that amount of coin for incremental optical gains over the NF 7-35. Not yet, anyway.

Edit: I know @Glassaholic and @koshkin also have good reviews on those two, some with those two scopes head to head. I just don’t have time right now to find and link to them.
Does SnB still have a service center here in the US? That's a big deal to a lot of people if they dont....as you know. :)

Guess I should have added this will be going my V22 for PRS/NRL matches.
If that's a rimfire then the the theos is great as it focuses down to ten yards, I can watch ants in my backyard, crazy. I think on paper there is 32mils of internal adjustment but people have pointed out there's actually 36, a little odd.

New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

I’m piecing together a build for the same use cases as you. I’m planning on a 16” to keep it maneuverable but avoid having to P&W for my suppressor that will never get removed except for cleaning. I’ll also be using a similar sized optic.
Now that yours fits what you need, but has grown in weight do you have regrets not springing for something like an 18” barrel? As soon as I find proof SS’s in stock I’m going to pull the trigger on barrel.

I had it with an 18" Proof CF barrel in its first iteration, I much prefer the shorter 14.5" barrel, but I wouldn't be opposed to a 16" barrel if legal reasons deemed it necessary or easier. I could drop a lot of weight by going back to the Magpul MOE SL-S stock but seeing how it's used from a stationary position 95% of the time I am not all that concerned with the weight.

CIVIL ASSET FORFEITURE AND FLYING THE FRIENDLY SKIES

Not sure why people carry thousands of dollars in cash. Makes no sense to me. I always have $500 but that is it.

I never understood why people use military style weapons, and carry them in their trucks and such. Makes no sense to me.

Its the same thing.

Oh...you forgot to add in the part about being common practice with criminals.

Any mountain bikers out there 2.0

Yeah last time I loaned my mountain bike to somebody else they broke their collar bone and needed surgery. While I'm interested in the newer full suspension E bikes they're probably even more dangerous.
Why would it be any more dangerous than a normal MTB? In my experience, high speed crashes that get you hurt are usually while descending, where the E part of the bike isn't going to help you any.

Reloading Setup finally finished.

Your setup looks good, but your location in the garage leaves much to be desired, unless it has it's own climate controls. I tried reloading in a garage once. It was unbearably hot in August, froze you nuts in off in January, and powder once opened was affected by the uncontrolled humidity, and uncoated steel , like dies & shell holders had a tendency to rust.

Sometimes it's the best you can do, so I understand.
