Posting this cause there isn’t too much info out on the interwebz of the CAT JL on a bolt gun. Needed to start a barrel break in after a local 600 yard competition today, so I shot a quick video my CAT JL Titanium compared to my Magnus. Rounds were FGMM 140 Grain Bergers, 6.5CM, 26” barrel.

We also shot it on a friends rifle, chambered in 6.5PRC; and without ear pro they both sounded very similar in overall sound. It did appear the Magnus peaks quicker compared to the CAT. Recoil impulse was good with both. The JL does save you a little weight and overall length. If anyone wants comparative pictures of the overall size let me know and I can add.

The Suomi KP/-31 (Finnish: Suomi-konepistooli m/31 or "Finland-machine-pistol mod. 1931") is a Finnish submachine gun that was mainly used during World War II. It is a descendant of the M-22 prototype and the KP/-26 production model, which was revealed to the public in 1925. It entered service in Finland in 1931, and remained in use until the 1980s.

Anyone know of any NV Bridges that will mount to the Vision Hybrid Chassis' external MLOK slots?

I haven't got a set of calipers but I'm fairly certain the Hybrid is 1.5" wide.. so presumably any NV Bridge measuring 1.51" wide will work?

Just can't find that info on the XLR, Ultradyne or MPA NV Bridges...??

So I was curious on people's thoughts about stock torsional stiffness and accuracy/repeatability?

For example, say you have your rifle on a bipod, and you exert a lateral or rotational force against the stock (say pushing against the cheek piece) if the forearm/stock deflects is that bad, or does it even matter? Seems like it might be a bigger issue (if it's even an issue) on a bipod than bags, as the rifle is allowed to twist on a bag that probably minimizes the torsion force but a locked down bipod isn't going to allow the mount point to move, so the stock twists.

One thing I've noticed is many stocks/chassis are pretty stiff vertically when you try and press the forearm to the barrel, which is the common test everyone seems to try, but some will twist quite easily, especially in stocks that do not have a full aluminum spine and just use a bedding block etc. I noticed this recently when I was setting up a new MDT Field Stock. It's quite stiff vertically when you try and compress it toward the barrel, but put it in a bipod and put just a couple pounds of pressure to either side of the cheek rest and was shocked how much twist there was. Obviously it's an extreme budget priced option, sacrifices have to be made at the price point, and it does not have a full aluminum spine. So for giggles I put a few other stocks/chassis I had into a bipod and the variation was pretty huge. Not surprising the higher price/weight/mass was usually more resistant to this force, but not always. I'd imagine a lot of factory plastic stocks would do horribly in this test as well.

AI AT: not surprisingly rock solid
TRG: again the only movement I could feel/see was bipod "slop"
CZ 457 bedded in a factory varmint precision chassis: I was surprised how much twist this one had, but it's also not very stiff vertically
10/22 in a bravo: I'd say middle of the pack
r700 in MDT field stock: by far the most flex, not even close
r700 bedded in HSS precision stock: pretty stiff, almost no movement
Sako s20: pretty solid middle of the pack.

For my use, the low price of the MDT Field stock was not the main motivating factor, I wanted something under 4lbs, that had a "skin" not bare metal, was setup for detachable mags, had a vertical grip, and was not super bulky, but the amount of flex in the forearm seems concerning.

I was reading the Eotech thread and it sounds like XLR’s NV bridge is the wrong height for most 1.5” mounts/rings to line up your day scope and clip on perfectly.

Has anyone used the Element/Tikka/NV bridge combo? How far off was it if it was off? I would like to use an ARC mount but the max height I saw was 1.50”.

Have a brand new Howa 1500 in 300 win.

First 40 rounds down the barrel and 1/2 of them sticking in the chamber. Stuck so hard had to hit the bolt handle with my palm to get them to release. Ammo was off the shelf new rounds 180gn Federal hunting ammo, Chrome casings.

Got home cleaned the chamber, inspected chamber, no issues I can find. Had some once fired brass casings. Ran about 40 rds in and out to see if they would stick too. About 10 of them stuck but not as near as bad as on the range. Just had to jiggle the handle a little bit and they’d release. The brass ones that stuck were also hard to close the bolt. No issues with tightness in closing the bolt on the new rounds.

Wondering if it’s just because it’s so tight and new? But never had any other rifle act like this.

I have a question for anyone who has and uses an LIF on their NODs.

I understand that LIF's are designed to filter a very specific wavelength of IR to protect NODS from being trashed by high power military targeting lasers. As a side effect of that, they also filter out green visible light around 532nm.

I think this could be useful for hunting with others who have thermal, but not night vision, and need a light to see while walking. But as soon as someone dons a headlamp, anyone with NODs sees a bunch of shadows, flashing, blowback, etc. However, if the person using visible light was using a green light of 532nm, and the NOD wearers were using LIFs, theoretically the visible light wouldn't have an effect on the night vision because the filter would block it.

Is anyone doing this? Also, could someone who owns NODs with LIF and also owns a green LED torch see how well the LIF filters it? I suspect that the LEDs would be creating dirty green light of varying wavelength, and the filtered NODs would still see some of it. But how much? If its a significant reduction, it could still potentially be worth it.

Anyone with experience with this?

This is an original Caswell CK3 from Caswell Knives. Probably one of the coolest looking knives ever made. The blade is flat black DLC (looks shiny in photos because I keep a light coat of food safe oil on it).

The grip insanely good. Between the shape and the G10 stippling, it sticks to the hand perfectly. Blade is made from a top-tier CPM-3V at 0.189" thick. This and the original run of the morphing karambit are highly sought after knives made and produced by Joe Caswell.

The Kydex sheath is the original factory sheath that's made for concealed carry inside of the waistband / IWB. These knives were designed and produced for FBI field agents, but they evidently couldn't produce them fast enough for them.
