Sidearms & Scatterguns Home Defense Suggestions

How about some recommendations for a home defense pistol? Here’s my requirements.

1. Semi-auto, not a wheel gun
2. Must have an old-school thumb safety
3. Must be Washington state compliant
4. Full-size. It’s not for concealed carry.
5. Easy to shoot accurately.
6. Not a 1911
7. One of the common calibers (9, 10, 40, 45)
8. Would like to be able to put a laser sight on it.

I don’t care if it’s metal or plastic, don’t care how it looks, don’t care how much it weighs. My upper limit would probably be $800, but if there’s a utilitarian but reliable pistol for $400, even better.

Accessories MDT Elite internal weight

1 piece MDT internal weight for the elite chassis. I had a moment of stupid and bought this without reading and I have the premier, doesn’t fit.

Never installed, pulled out of the box long enough for a face palm moment.

120 from MDT, I’ll take 85 shipped.

I take PayPal, Venmo, and cashapp. My bank doesn’t do Zelle.

Thanks.

What a good gunsmith

Just picked up my lone peak fusion action and have a 6.5mm bartlein barrel i want to turn into a 6.5cm and need a good gunsmith to chamber my barrel. Originally I was gunna do a prefit but more and more Im thinking im going to send in my action and have them custom cut it for my action to eek out as much precision as I can. I know bugholes is a great place especially for prefits but idk about custom chamberings? I know sac does custom jobs. Does anyone have experience with their barrel work? Anyone else you can think of that you know does great work throw me a comment and let me know.
Thanks

Accuracy of CZ 457 Varmint 22LR non MTR

I recently purchased the 457 Varmint in22lr non MTR. Have only shot it in back of my house at 25yds. Haven't been to the range yet for 50yd shooting. Just from the research online, It seems a lot of folks are not getting very good accuracy. Some say no matter what ammo they have tried. The last CZ I owned was a 452 Varmint in 22LR years back. The 452 was very accurate even with the Federal 510 rounds. I'm just trying to see if a lot of folks on this forum have had poor accuracy out of this particular model. Also, if anyone found solutions to accuracy problems other than barrel replacement. I plan to install a yo dave trigger. Thanks for all input! (y) I plan to experiment with action screw torque.

Introduction

I have been in the forums looking around for several years. Just recently started getting into long-range stuff. Finally decided to make an account and expand my knowledge. I have been into guns since I could walk and am now in my early 20s. With my dad a police officer on the S.W.A.T. team for two decades, guns became a part of my life and always fascinated me, with me wanting to know more about them.

Accessories Curtis / Terminus QC Barrels | 6.5 Creed and 6.8 Western

I have two new barrels that were intended for a Curtis Valor quick change, but they are the same as Terminus.

Both are Krieger stainless Remington Varmint/Sendero contour.

First barrel:
6.5 Creedmoor
1-8 twist
Finished at 16”
Threaded 5/8
Spiral fluted
Cerakoted black

Second barrel:
6.8 Western
1-8 twist
Finished at 24”
Threaded 5/8
Spiral fluted
Cerakoted black

The work was done by Alamo Precision Rifles in Texas.

I have over $1,200 in each of these. Price for each is $825 shipped.

If you want additional pics, videos, facetime or to talk on the phone, I am happy to do it.

Trade interests are any 700 clone action with mag bolt face in short or long action. I would also be interested in hunting/tactical stocks such as Manner’s, McMillan, Foundation, etc. for 700 clones.

Anything else, you are welcome to ask.

Weatherby Alpine CT 7 PRC review

I was planning on building a new 7PRC but then I came across some reviews on the new Weatherby 307's. The Alpine CT was basically the same gun I was planning to build with the same Peak 44 stock. Buying one saved me about $1500 so I decided I'd give it a try. They guarantee 1 MOA and alot of the reports I saw had them shooting better than that. I put a Maven RS 1.2 scope with Nightforce rings on it. Cleaned it and broke in the barrel trying out a few different factory loads. It feels great and shoots very well. I have no complaints on the gun or the scope. Best results so far were 3 shots .5" using Federal 175 ELDX running 2880 fps. with the Hornady 175 ELDX coming in right behind it at .75" at 2835 fps. Hopefully it gets even better with a few more rounds down the tube. It also weighs in at 8 lbs 6 oz scoped.
