Figured it'd be nice to have a place to go to find some of the Legendary threads. They can be old ones (like gecko45), newer ones (like buddly or recoil control bipods), or even as a place to check what looks like it might turn into a Legendary thread. I've seen a few times where different members have said that they wish they'd known about the thread sooner. This is where you go to figure out where some of the Hide inside jokes/ inside references started.

Question for the Hide on their experiences with aging family members and holiday traditions. We're a week out from Thanksgiving and still haven't a clue on what the proverbial plan is. A lot has changed over the recent years. On my wife's side- her grandmother used to host her side of the family at her house and likely did so for over 60 years. She passed away last year so that familial tradition is now operating in a void this year.

On my side of the family- my Aunt used to host Thanksgiving for us but about 3 years ago health issues stopped her from being able to host and my mother (very apprehensively tried to fill in). Well my Uncle (said Aunt's husband) also passed away last year and my Aunt is in a rehab facility from recently breaking her hip. My own parents are having health issues of their own which complicates them from hosting Thanksgiving this year and now I'm in a situation resembling a Spiderman meme on who's going to catch the hot potato.




My brother lives in a different state and cannot come up to PA for a turkey dinner. My wife's sister lives in a different state but will be up for Thanksgiving but it seems that both sides of the family are looking at us to pick up the Thanksgiving torch this year. My apprehensions there are that we (1) just purchased the house this year and are still waiting on the furniture we ordered to be delivered and (2) Admittedly I'm very reluctant to enter this holiday as a host because I absolutely believe we'll end up being 'stuck' with it for years to come. To add to the 'joyful' nature of the situation, neither sides of our families necessarily interact with each other either so it's not like it'd be a harmonious joining of families if we did bite the bullet and hosted.

All that said- I'm not looking for any counseling on my family situation here, rather I'm just venting and wondering if anyone else has run into similar family issues with Thanksgiving/Holidays and if so- if they'd be willing to share what the issues were at the time, how they dealt with it, and what the hindsight option was.

Tis the holiday season and it brings out the absolute 'best' in families am I right?

Beginning to study suppressors for my Tikka Super Varmint in 6.5 Creedmoor. Range gun. Modeled up some super basic adjustable retention mag pouches. 2 piece print and epoxied together. Single screw with rubber gaskety thing for tension. Not sure how helpful it’d be but if anyone wants the cad to print or modify I’ll send it to ya.

I currently have a RCBS Pocket 1500 and is terrible with the drift. Picking the powder pan up and placing it again shows drift as much as 0.3gr and goes back and forth so there's no way to judge what is the correct reading.
No drafts, wiped the thing with dryer sheet and as away from electronics as possible but the issue is still there.

Other than the beam scale, is there an electronic one that won't drift? Preferably with an auto trickler but not a necessity.
Budget is less than 300USD. That being said, I wouldn't want to spend 300 only to find out that I need to get a fx120 for reliable measure, so if I absolutely need to spend more, let me know and I'll delay my purchasing.

Scope is in excellent shape, obviously as per photos it has some wear to the finish from use. Some bluing loss from age to the mount as you can see, all in keeping with age and fair use.

Scope turrets are very smooth, reticle moves through its full adjustment range smoothly.
Glass is clear, refer to photos for this.

Leather caps come with it, they look ok but have one split in the middle of the strap which might come apart with use.

Hi brains trust. Surely someone here has fitted a MDT flush 3 round 308 polymer magazine into a short action Hawkins Hunter DBM?

Its very close to fitting but the magazine catch seems to protrude too much to get past the latch or fit into the slot the surrounds the latch. Im unsure whether to sand the catch down slightly or make it fit some other way. I cant imagine i'm the first to try this, before i ruin the magazine im wondering if anyone has any tips?!

SCAR 20s with a factory 20" 6.5 creedmoor barrel. D wilson cut it down to 16" and reporifled it to accept AAC and Griffin OTB muzzle devices, as pictured. Has exactly 40 rounds through it otherwise brand new in the box. Ill include one extra 20rd mag.

I also have a brand new/unfired 308 barrel for this that was also cut to 16" (not reprofiled).

I ordered a triggertech diamond 2 stage rem700 for my impact737r build. It came in a white envelope and when I opened it up the trigger was out of its recess and all the way to the side of the package. Did not take a Pic of that position. I slid it back to the recess and noticed a small nick in the anodizing. It was shipped all over the US, north to south to north then back down to me. The package it's self it beat up and crushed on one side. If I went to a store I would not buy it. I filed for a claim as my gunsmith said he would not use it without sending it in to have it checked at triggertech. The place where I bought it have been wonderful they said it wasn't shipped by them and the last trigger I bought from them came packed in a box with alot of foam. Am I wrong for wanting a replacement.

Not sure if this is just me and my guns but here is what I see after firing and resizing with a Redding Elite type S bushing die set.

I have 300 WM, .308win, 6.5cm and they all seem to fire a few times with neck sizing only then after the first 2 or 3 firings I would assume they would be my chamber size. So my 300 WM like 2.010 on my SAC comparator with a Mitutoyo caliper. I spray lube and I set my sizing die(on a Forrester CO-AX) until I get a 2.010 measurement(They are 2.014ish) when I start. I run 10 cases and I get 2.009, 2.006, 2.011, 2.012...

I cant for the life of me figure out why I get such a weird range of sizes with a fixed die in a decent press. I assume the cases arent all the same size when I start.

Below is my numbers from 50 rounds of PPU brass(I know its crap, It was factory ammo I bought for the brass when 300wm was hard to find). Its weird that the numbers get worse from min to max after sizing I would expect .0005 to .001 range after my process.

Any constructive thoughts would be appriciated. I know I need to invest in Lapua brass, I can't find any when I look locally.

Bought some of the .308 167gr Swiss P Styx from Raven Rocks Precision. Has anyone loaded or used the factory ammo for hunting before? Can’t seem to find much online of any results on game.

Looking for a light profile 300 blk out barrel for impact action. can be used to what ever extent. I have several young kids im about to take on their first hunts so im trying to put together a young kid friendly size build.
Ideal would be something 16 inch size in a light profile and used simply from a cost stand point.
