Shank length necessary to set back the chamber/throat of 6mm Creedmoor after burning out the barrel?

I'm considering ordering a carbon fiber barrel chambered in 6mm Creedmoor. What sort of shank length would be necessary to be able to set back the chamber/throat to give the barrel a second life after it gets burned out the first time?

I have seen various uses of shank length, I typically think of it as the length from the very breech end of the barrel to wherever the profile changes from a pure cylinder (whether that be the start of the taper or carbon fiber wrap, whichever is first). So this would include the tenon threaded section. If you have a different take on what the shank is I would appreciate it if you could mention that along with your thoughts on the length necessary for a single rechambering, just so we can be on the same page as to what specific dimension we're talking about.

Also, I am not sure this matters for this discussion, but this would be a shouldered prefit for a Defiance Ruckus/AntiX/Classic action.

Thanks in advance for any help.

New shorty 308

18 inch 308. Barrel work done by LRI. X pattern fluting. MCbros action with DLC coated bolt. AG composite Adjustable Chalk Branch. Stock bedded and painted here. Minox 3-15. APA rings.
SAS 7 inch titanium. My new favorite. It doesn't heat walk either. LRI did a fantastic job on barrel fluting and installation.

Precision Rifle Gear Chad vs Botnia

Looking for any experience of a Chad tuner brake vs a Botnia Maxi. We are in the process of building a PRS rifle for Tactical class in 308 win for my son, so wanting to get the absolute most effective muzzle brake that we can find. The choice seems to be between the Chad and the Botnia, but I cant find much that compares the two. I watched the X-Ring Youtube video, and his conclusion was that they were very similar, but I would be interested to hear the experience of anyone else that has been able to compare the two.

Accessories Tikka T3 7mm Rem Mag Barrel with Muzzle Brake, Ammo, Brass

Up for sale is a lightly used Tikka T3 7mm Remington Magnum barrel (no round count but probably 250 or so rounds through it). This beast kicked like a bastard mule in the light mountain rifle and damn near caused me to develop a trigger flinch. My gunsmith tamed it with a muzzle brake and it took the buck out more than I anticipated. We were friends until the shiny new 7PRC caught my eye.

Barrel length is 25.25" from thread base to end of muzzle brake. Condition is excellent, finish is good as expected for a rifle used in the mountains. No notable blemishes but it doesn't win a beauty contest either.

Includes 1 full box of Hornady precision hunter 162g ELD-x and approximately 100 (pictured) brass. Some has been sized and deprimed while the rest is fired.

$325 TYD

Always open to trades for cool guy stuff that I think in need.... and willing to put up cash for the right shiny object.

Number of shots to establish zero

Hey all, new member here. Looked for existing threads with similar topics but couldn't find any, and I'm curious.

How many rounds do you shoot at the paper to zero your rifle for a new ammo/load? 3, 5 and 10-round groups seem to be the popular rule-of-thumb numbers, but I'm interested to see if there's a favorite number that stands out.

Also, how often do you re-zero? Only when changing the load, any time the shooting environment is different (temperature, altitude, etc.), or some other factor?

Why doesn’t the Kestrel Library have Lapua Long Range and Lapua only lists G1?

Like the title says I was wondering why it’s not there for the use of the custom curve. Only two are listed for mine and a buddies 5700 elite center x and Midas+. Also Lapua only lists G1 and it’s at .172. Next super long range, long range, x-act, and center x all have the same G1 BC of .172. So I guess my only choice is it run that G1 Lapua gives? Any help is appreciated!

Sako vs. Weatherby

I am looking for a new rifle, have a lot of hiking in mind (caribou) as well as locally in Indiana during deer season.

I like 308 so I want to stick with that caliber.

Have it narrowed down to the Sako Quest, or the Weatherby Backcountry Guide Ti. Both have 20" barrels, the Sako is stainless, the Weatherby is carbon fiber. The Sako is about 6 pounds, the Weatherby is 5 pounds.

They are both around $3,500.00.

One minor plus for the Weatherby is that it has built in Spartan attachment points, I like Spartan bidpods.

Any opinions either way? Any specific positive or negative experiences with either one?

12" 6.5 Grendel Suppressed, 8-year Update

I started this project in 2017. Wasn't in a particular rush, as we waited for the group buy barrels to fill and be made.

I've had some opportunities to shoot it at one of my Long Range courses and some local chronograph work. My Form 4 cleared while I was at Scout Camp, so it was nice to come home to that and pick up my TBAC Ultra 5 Titanium suppressor.

The overall usability I see for such a compact package is a kind of do-all little blaster.

* HD with varmint bullets going 2600-2700fps
* Hunting medium game
* DM Courses
* Recreational target shooting on steel at distances from 200-1000yds
* Exceeding performance of the 16.3" and 20" AK and SKS, as well as the 20" 5.56 NATO
* Little truck gun for camping, hiking maybe, outdoor protection that doesn't exhibit a large rifle profile

Accessories Sons of Liberty L89 13.75" mlok rail Price drop 6/9

I've got a brand new 13.75" example of the premium SOLGW L89 rail for AR15. 7075 aluminum. Upgraded from the M89 with 7 side mlok, Steel QD sockets and a Titanium Barrel nut.
Still features the best in class wedgelock attachment method with 3 separate wedges locking it to the barrel nut and the silky smooth anodizing of all SOLGW's stuff.
Has a couple tiny flaws, one corner of the front end is slightly flattened and there are two tiny dents in the pic rail(shown in pics). Barely worth mentioning, but on such a premium product wanted to call them out
