Vortex range finders

Hey guys. Looking for my first longer range range finder. My buddy says get the biggest l can afford. I honestly hate blanket statement advise like that. I want to range to 1000 for target shooting and deer at say 600 even though that's very very unlikely.

It seems the diamondback HD2000 should work for $300. The Viper 3000 definitely seems like it would at +$100. He recommends l get the Razor HD4000 for +$200.

Can anyone elaborate on why l need the extra expense, size and weight?

EDC Sling bags in stock in Multicam, Coyote Brown, Black Camo, Ranger Green and FDE.

COMBAT VETERAN OWNED COMPANY

Tacticon’s new BattlePack Lite is the perfect option when on the go. This sling pack is well suited carry handguns, dozens of magazines, electronics, med-kits, hydration sources, every day essentials, and of course….. snacks. All pouches have been lined with water resistant material to ensure ammo, electronics, and paperwork are not damaged by adverse weather conditions. The sling strap is positioned at the centerline of the pack to provide an equal experience for right and left-handed users. To switch between right and left-hand orientation, simply change the position of the sling strap clip located at the end of the strap from right to left or left to right at the clip point located at the bottom corners of the pack. The pack also includes a smaller strap that may be connected to the main strap to reduce the sway of the bag when on the move. The main sling strap material is adjustable in length for variations in body type or method of carry. In general, there are three ways you can carry this pack: Across the body, over one shoulder, or on your chest. For longer treks, there is a loop at the bottom inside of the pack that may be attached to the belt to keep the bag secured to your body. Velcro and MOLLE attachment points can be found at nearly every angle of the pack for any additional gear mounting requirements you may need. The inside has a generous amount of space and storage compartments for its size. Both small and large retention bands as well as a hook & loop mounted pistol retention options are generously provided throughout the entire interior of the pack in addition to its numerous water-resistant pouches.

glfa 300win mag info

GLFA, great lakes firearms and ammunition. i haven’t seen much on this company and i was wondering if anyone has any first hand knowledge of them. they are making a 300 win mag with a proprietary lower reciever that’s around $1100 bucks. i know it’s not a high end build gun. i know there has been some problems with the noreen and omen rifles and i’m curious if any of there guns went the route of the big bang yet.

if you have negatives with the gun or the company please give the reason. same goes with positive comments.

Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

So, Charles / HebrewHammer sent me a Steiner C35 to get my thoughts on it. I haven’t bought one (yet), but with a full LIST price of just $4K for a legit 640px dedicated thermal clip-on with HD display, I’m gonna grab one anyway (be sure to have mercy on a poor ol’ Horta, Mr Hammer).

I’m a big fan of getting the negatives out of the way first, so I’m going to beat the C35 up a little before going into what it does very well, which is what it was designed to do.

First, the C35 is a fricking Brick House! At over 35-ounces with battery installed, it’s the heaviest consumer thermal I own. It’s big and bulky compared to its competitors as well. I don’t own any Yoter/Bering stuff, so I can’t compare with their units.

Second, the battery is a funky 18650 “B”. You can NOT use a standard 18650. It won’t fit. One is included, but you’ll need to get more or — use an external Anker-style USB pack.

The rail mount is a monster and the QD throw lever is a boat paddle.

I’ve looked all over the unit itself, the packaging, and the documentation and I can’t, for the life of me, figure out where this thing is made. Someone help me out here… WHERE IS THIS DAMN THING MADE?!

I figured it was from Chynah and the core was likely iRay, but I’m not so sure. The unit has the funky FLIR Boson color pallettes, so there is a slim chance it may NOT be Chinesium (fingers crossed).

More (good news) to come shortly. Dinner time.

The Razor 1-10x is in a 1.57” Scalarworks mount, so the C35 looks to be designed for a 1.5” optic.

AMP Mark 1 BURNT ELECTRICAL SMELL DURING OPERATION

My AMP Mark 1 Annealer is probably at the 60,000 mark by now.

1. The smell has been there since it was turned on before actual use, on day one
2. It manifests upon turning the unit on
3. It’s the smell you encounter when your toaster shorts in a bad way or your alternator is about to give up the ghost (might this be Ozone?)
4. It used to bother the heck outta me, but I’ve gotten used to it
5. The apartment hasn’t burned down

Just what or where IS this smell from?

I remember varnish being mentioned in one of AMP’s videos, but they didn’t mention any smell associated with it.
