New To Loading Sub Sonic

I have a .308 Winchester 16” barrel with a 1:10 twist. Bolt Action Mossburg Scout.
I would like to use the Hornady SubX projectiles in either 175 or 190 grains. Are those viable or should I go heavier in weight? Would like to use Tight Group and Federal Large Rifle caps. Do any of y’all have any thoughts? I can read the printed load data but just not sure on which bullet weight to start with in a 16” barrel. Load data was created with a 24” . Looking to load subsonic.

Range Report Testing the 7mm 190’s.

Tested the 190 A Tip today from 530 to a bit over 2000.
Ran some 190 hybrids and 185RDF’s as well for comparison.
Pretty decent wind as I was holding up to 3 mills today.

All three were running a safe 2850 to 2865

the RDF did pretty Good considering the price but the bullet consistency was not in the same league as the hybrid and ATip.
24 mils to 2020 at 2865 and the advertised BC is really close.

190 Hybrids were the slowest at 2850 but still a full mil less come up than the RDF.
The new hybrid is an excellent bullet.
23 mils to 2020 and once again trueing was easy as the BC is really close.

The new 190 A-tip’s stupendous BC had me doubtful as I generally have to fiddle with Hornandy BC’s consistently.
Slapped the speed and BC in the kestrel and it was basically spot on at 530, 1115, 1365, 1930 and only .3 low at 2020!
That could easily be wind related as wind was switchy all day.
Running at a leisurely 2866 it only took 21.4 to 2020.
I put 6 in a row in a 3’ painted circle with at least one hitting the gong in the middle with the A Tips holding 3 mils for wind.
That amazing BC appears legit!

DT SRSA2 Rifle Chassis w/ Monopod, RH FDE/FDE | DTA-SRS-CH-SR-FF $3,749.00
Please call 916-670-1103 to order

Right Hand FDE on FDE with monopod.

The Desert Tech SRS A2 Chassis The A2 chassis system features the same ergonomic bullpup design as the A1 but with features designed to make the SRS A2 chassis system more accurate, lightweight, and reliable. The SRS A2 chassis will be available in the more compact SRS A2 model as well for additional maneuverability and weight reduction.

Accuracy & Stability Upgrades

The SRS A2 Chassis will feature Desert Tech’s new A2 trigger designed to make the trigger system less complex while providing a trigger pull that has less creep, a shorter reset, and a crisper break. The A2 trigger can be adjusted from 1.5 to 7 lbs. and has a flat contour for improved ergonomics. Desert Tech also upgraded the barrel clamping system in the A2 chassis, the new system reduces stress placed on the barrel when installed. During testing by Desert Tech it was found that the new system’s average accuracy was 36% better than the A1 system. The A2 chassis also now features an integral tripod attachment point and a Harris bipod mount for increased stability.

Weight Reduction & Functionality Upgrades

One of Desert Tech’s goals when developing the SRS A2 Chassis was to reduce the overall weight of the rifle, making it a more maneuverable and effective combat weapon. Desert Tech was able to cut a good deal of weight from the chassis by fluting the receiver and removing the monopod. The new system substitutes the Picatinny rail handguard for more a lightweight m-lock handguard. The receiver in the A2 chassis features additional clearance allowing for smoother bolt manipulation.

Features of the Desert Tech SRS A2 Chassis

  • M-lock Handguard with Harris Bipod Mount
  • Field Match Flat Trigger (1.5 – 7 lbs.)
  • Integral Tripod Mount
  • Adjustable Length of Pull and Cheek Height
  • Fast and Easy Caliber Change
  • Comfortable Shooting From All Positions

Feedback Anyone done business with Chucky?

Attempted to buy a Bergara premiere bolt today. I had some gut feelings after seeing they’ve been inactive for about two years but decided to purchase anyway. Seller asked that I pay f&f. I paid goods and services and paid extra for the fees and expedited shipping. After they received payment, they seemed upset that I paid g&s and have since stopped replying to messages and did not ship today as agreed upon.

Just seeing if anyone knows this user or has had transactions or if I’m being over paranoid.

Thanks. Also if you are legit and have a Bergara 6.5 premier bolt, let me know.

Best Canadian Gunsmiths?

Hey guys,

I’m looking to build my first custom PRS rifle and open to advice.

the first and biggest thing on my list is finding a gunsmith to put it all together. I have no experience with any gunsmiths in Canada and looking for some advice. Does anyone have any experience with any gunsmiths in Canada you would trust to put together a precision rifle? Preferably one in Ontario but willing to deal with someone out of province.

I’ve been thinking about getting it chambered in 6.5 creedmore but open to suggestions. and parts that I’m interested in using for the rifle would be, a deviant defiance or deviant defiance tactical action, a proof research carbon fibre barrel, a trigger tech diamond 2 stage trigger. I don’t necessarily have stock in mind, possibly a h-s precision pst007 stock.

Maggie’s Electric hot water heater

I have had great luck with the brain trust that is the Hide.
Looking into replacing my 11 year old hot water heater . What I have now is a Richmond 50 gallon 240 volt 4500 watt .
With 4 kids and wife I don’t know if I should go bigger. Or just stagger bath time.
I thought about doing a heat pump water heater but not sure if it is worth it. House is all electric. Brands to look at brands to run from? Heat pump a good idea?

Need handguard suggestions for fitting suppressor under it

So a Marine buddy and I are looking to build .338ARC pistols, maybe I’ll SBR mine but we’re looking for handguards that will accommodate a silencer under them. We’re going with a 8.5” barrel and looking to use 13.5” handguards but everything I see is all oh look how slim this is! I don’t want slim! I want meaty! I want thick! And I want a large I.D.

If you know of anything like this please drop some suggestions. Dare I say it there’s to many options and not enough gun parts search engines!
