Accessories Marathon 46mm CSAR® Type II - Diver's Automatic - $2,900

Up for sale is my Marathon 46mm CSAR®Type II - Diver's Automatic. I bought this in June/2024 and although it has seen some use, it was not a daily wearer for me. There are some signs of wear (minor) on the buckle of the rubber strap, but that’s about it. Rugged, and dependable it is a serious watch for serious operators. A big chunk of steel that wears like a much smaller watch, fashionable in the field or at the Golf Club. It can be worn both casual and dressed.

Includes Stainless Steel Bracelet (never installed), 3-PieceRubber Strap Kit with brushed steel hardware (installed) and Nylon Defstan Strap (never installed). As an added bonus, it also includes a Marathon logoed LeathermanFree®T2 Multi-tool and a Marathon logoed Black Canvas Watch Roll. All original boxes, paperwork, etc. included. This complete package at retail would be over $5,300

Not looking for trades, and I will cover shipping/insurance in CONUS. $2,900 firm, PPFF or Zelle preferred but other payment arrangements can be discussed. Feel free to ask any questions! Thanks!

Who Is Marathon?

The U.S. military requisitions Marathon watches. Marathon is a major supplier of timepieces to the U.S. military, with contracts to multiple branches and special operations units. While not ubiquitous, Marathon watches are standard issue for various units across the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force, for units like the U.S. Navy EOD, U.S. Air Force Pararescue, and U.S. Army Special Forces.

Marathon watches are also used by other government agencies, including the Coast Guard, NASA, and the Canadian Armed Forces.

The 46mm Jumbo Diver/Pilot's Automatic Chronograph (CSAR) is commonly known as the Chronograph Search and Rescue (CSAR) and is the most coveted of our SAR Class. It is considered the "Grail" of our watches and is the perfect choice for those who demand the best in quality and performance.

338 Norma Loads
10/20/2014 Last edited 10/21/2014 by midgetorama

I am shooting a 9.5 twist Bartlein that finishes at 26".

With a 300 grain SMK I am getting slight ejector marks with 85.0 grains of IMR 7828 SSC and a CCI250 with Norma brass. Velocity is only 2715 fps.

The best accuracy with this bullet, powder, primer combo is 82.5 grains at 2632 fps. Single digit ES.

I am seating the bullet with a 0.025" jump.

I was expecting better velocity. I may try Retumbo eventually.

Any one try US869. 1smalljohnson told me to give it a try. I've just started messing with it. The highest I went was 99 grains and if I remember correctly I was in the mid 2700s. This was with a Berger 300 out of a 26" barrel. I'll post more after this weekend hopefully.

I have a good buddy that is using us869 in his 300rum pushing 230s. Ive thought about it, but what he is running into is a lot of carbon buildup, carbon ring.

If a guy is looking for a powder, definitely give rl33 a shot. Ive ran some of it and it gives excellent velocities.

Re: 338 Norma Loads

Here is some info on rl33.
97.7grns rl33
300grn berger otm.
215mag
2863fps 26" barrel
3.725" coal - single load.
Es 14.22
Sd 7.00
This gave me a 0.103" center to center group at 100yds.

I did a quick velocity check prior to loading for groups.
1. 95.0grn-2738fps
2. 96.0grn-2788
3. 97.0grn-2732 - velocity dip.
4. 98.0grn-2861
5. 99.0grn-2899 - hard bolt lift

I shot these 5 rounds at 300yds and the resulting group was 2".

It'll fit...

I know it seems like a lot, but the density of the RL33 is higher then say H1000 where you'd have a hell of a time with 90grns.

89.0 gr of H-1000 with 300gr Berger OTM

3.602 Cartridge Length ... I'm a couple thousandths off the lands.

Averaging close to 2800 fps from 27" bbl.

5-shot groups were 1.125 @ 200 yards.

I managed one 3-shot group at 200y for 0.625" NOT sure I could reproduce it.

I'd strongly recommend Berger boolits across the board. My 6.5 CM loves them too. Super high ballistic coefficient on both calibers.

My Retumbo tests for 338NM were averaging 2715 fps.

Close to 2900 fps from a 338 Norma out of a 26" barrel?

How is brass life?

I`m building a 338 Norma with a 30" Pacnor 1-9 twist barrel and hoping for 2850 fps with good brass life.

brass life seems to be good. I'm not running a lot of the rl33. my main load is h1000 which i have previously listed on this page. but with RL33 a guy can get up there in velocity. Just giving the guys some insight. My numbers will vary from others.

Settled on 89gr of H1000 pushing a 300gr Berger. Shot it on a ridiculously hot day...occasional ejector swipe, primers look good, no sticky bolt. At 1071 yards it hits steel with authority.

15k off the lands
AVG 2809FPS, SD of 4.3, ES of 9

Also will note that for my barrel the POI is the same for both 88gr and 89gr of H1000.

Savage mark 2 build

Hey guys,

I've got a savage mk 2 that I've decided to turn into a rimfire precision competition gun - I can shoot 1" groups at 100yd with CCI standard velocity out of it.

Currently it sits in an oryx chassis with a Diamondback tactical 6-24, riding an Oryx mlok bipod.

Here's what I DON'T currently like about this setup:

-Balance is terrible
-Scope won't focus at max zoom beyond 100yd (100y is even a bit borderline)
-Bipod is terrible

Here is what I am planning to change in the next month or so:

-Full length ARCA rail
-CKYE Pod
-Stick on Wheel weights jammed into forend
-40MOA Rail
-Mlok side panels+Weights (if required)

I'm not sure exactly what to do about the scope - I may just leave it for now and see what happens later.

What do you guys think? I'll post a photo when I get home from work.

Thanks,

CHOMPS

I have 5 NIB the X400VH, which integrates with SureFire's revolutionary MasterFire Rapid Deploy Holster for quick deployment and instant-on light activation, an ideal combination in a low-light, high-stress situation. Even better, the X400VH features our innovative V-Series head, which provides both white-light and infrared illumination, plus an integral Class 1 infrared laser aiming device. Choose between 350 lumens of visible, tactical-level light or twist the bezels self-locking selector to switch to generate 120 mW of IR illumination for use with NVGs. Carrying a folding knife in a pocket? Instant solution for protecting your pockets and making access to the knife faster.

So, like most people here are doing, you are carrying a folding knife as part of your regular EDC, right? Doesn't matter if they are passive swivel types, slick assisted openers, or automatics, they are simply the best choice for complete concealability.

Yeah, yeah, I get it. They have belt clips built into them. But the clips on many models, even high end knives, are not exactly reliable on the long run and I know many people who have lost knives and flashlights relying on the clip alone. One of my fellow contractors had his brand new Fenix PD35 TAC light wiggle loose from it's clip and drop over 3 stories from a rooftop HVAC unit we were working on and it's headcase shatter completely. He ordered a new one and I reminded him to get a Fenix hardshell holster for it as well. I actually gave him one of mine because I have a shitload of them and it doesn't hurt to have a few extras on standby... And clips still stand out and anybody trying really hard will notice that you are carrying a knife.

Pockets, especially dominant hand side pants pockets, are the best way to carry a folder for fast deployment if need be. But that presents it's own set of problems. One, a heavy duty folder continuously riding around in your pocket is going to wear a hole right through them after a while. And two, they are loose inside, which means they can settle horizontally into the bottom of your pocket and that makes reaching for it a bit awkward, especially if your work pants have just been freshly laundered and are a bit tight.

Well, that is not a problem anymore.

INTRODUCING: THE REVOLUTIONARY POCKET PROTECTOR. Nah, just kidding. It is just an ordinary faux-leather smartphone and passport/ID top opening wallet that you can get at any discount store. Remove any of the partitions inside normally set aside for IDs and such because you are not using it as an ID case, shear off any top straps if they have any. Then take one of those cheapo nylon drawstring bookbags, cut a nice big piece of fabric out of it, fold it up tight and press it into the bottom of the "holster" to beef up the bottom a bit, and now you got a perfect inside the pants pocket carrier for your heavy duty knife.

shopping.jpeg

The carrier keeps your pockets from wearing out. No more ruined work pants.

The additional bulk of the carrier expands your pocket a bit, and makes reaching into it much easier too.

The added tension and smaller space in the carrier also keeps that folder upright all the time with the swivel end down. You can be assured that thing is always in the position for instant drawing.

And on top of all that, these things are cheap. If they get buffed up and worn to tatters over time, simply get a new one...

This is my SOG Seal XR, a beast of a folding combat knife, inside my ad hoc pocket carrier which is around $2.50 or so and takes about 2 minutes to modify.

Buffer trouble.

Hey Everyone,

I am having some trouble sorting out correct buffer spring and weight.

Can anyone point me to a good troubleshooting thread or resource?

I have a 10.5, pistol gas, 300BO. I started with a carbine buffer and spring and had short stroking trouble. At the advice of a LGS, I replaced the carbine buffer with an H3. It still short strokes. Brass ejects but it doesn't pick up another round.

I also have an 18 inch, rifle gas, .223 Wylde that had the same problem.

What do you all recommend?

Thanks

Gunsmith for 1911 work?

I have a couple of 70 series pistols that need some work (barrel fitting / fit slide stop, mag catch / RMS cut on an existing BoMar) and a second that just needs an RMS cut (Novak).

Nighthawk says 6 months and $1500 for the first one (I supply the barrel). $450 for the second slide cut; but in both cases they only want to cold blue unless they can refinish the whole slide.

Anyone have any recommendations for someone that is going to do at least as well as Nighthawk and be faster?

Anyone have a recommendation for someone to simply cut the second slide? I have seen DSC mentioned here and there - any other recommendations?

Trigger won’t reset

I have a bergara bmr 22LR. FOR a couple years. When I got it I installed a triggertech primary on it and she has performed flawlessly for over a year or longer. Couple weeks ago I installed a TT DIAMOND in it , and once in, the trigger would not reset when I cycled the bolt. I removed the TT DIAMOND and put the TT PRIMARY back into it. That is the same trigger that worked flawlessy for a long while and now it’s doing the same thing. It seemed like if I unscrew the action screws a little loose then it will reset the trigger a bit better but now 100%. Would anybody know the cause of this? Could it be due to the stock not being pillar bedded and action screws squeezing a little too much?
(Both trigger worked well this same day when installed in my HMR PRO)

6arc bolt gun

If you were building a 6arc bolt gun, what barrel length and twist rate would you go for on a dedicated coyote rifle? Majority of my shots are 80 to 150, i don’t think I’ll ever be able to shoot past 300 in my area.

Is there any good factory ammunition? I llike to keep the nicer pelts so big holes aren’t desired.

I won a custom bolt action rifle and I’m drawn to the 6arc (and 22creed)
