6.5 creedmoor load development

I recently got a seekins hit 6.5 creedmoor. My first creedmoor.

I wanted to try the velocity node method. I now feel I've wasted time and money.

Lapua SRM, berger 140 hybrid, h4350, cci.

Started with 0.5 increments, 40-43.5. I know berger has 42.6 as max. No heavy bolt, or primer issues.

These were only 5 round and I did not have time to shoot group size as my uncle was planting and spaying.

My ES was over 40fps until I got to 42.5. At 43 I was at 9.5. 43gr I'm 2810fps.

Between 43 and 43.5 I had my biggest jump in fps.2810-2870

I asked on reddit and got alot of crap for going over 42.5 and over 2800fps. Because they say creedmoor shoots this and why bother trying something else.

Did I waste time with velocity nodes? Is 43gr or 2800fps too much? For brass or barrel life.

I hoping this weekend I can shoot group size.

Thanks. This is my first time on here and appreciate any feedback.

KAK 1n5 twist 11.5" v. 1n7 twist 11.5" , both suppressor ready, .076 GP.

KAK has both these available, and for some reason I am interested in them.

I typically prefer precision oriented complete uppers, when I buy a complete upper. ( most spare uppers I own I have assembled with precision oriented barrels. )

FWIW... I don't expect a KAK 11.5" upper to be a MOA "everyday" shooter. I accept it for what it is.

Both are MLGS.

1n5 twist, Fluted SS 11.5" barrel

1n7 Twist, phosphated 11.5" barrel

I will buy or the other... any valid reason NOT to get the 1n5 twist rate ?

Is the 1n5 twist rate just to fast for current match grade bullet jackets ?

I like the heavier , fluted profile of the 1n5 version... but again is that twist just to fast for any thinner jacketed 77gr match bullets ? ( first time with that fast of a twist )

Given the lack of meaningful dwell time of the gas system and GP size... could a LtWt BCG, low mass buffer setup "possibly" help allow it to function without a suppressor ? Any thoughts would be helpful in my choices.

And thoughts on a muzzle device ? ( until the suppressor arrives )

Recoil mitigation , and staying on target, flash suppression, would be the goals here. Surefire Warcomp ?

Eight things Europeans criticize the US for but we say thanks

Straight from Babylon Bee but pretty neat and might not even be considered satire. I love #1 & #5

  1. You guys have enough guns to blow up the world four times over!: Heck yes we do.
  2. You don't speak any language but English: Because we're winners. Appreciate the reminder.
  3. You call football "soccer" and you're terrible at it: Yeah, we're not all gay. Thanks for noticing!
  4. Nobody uses public transit: Absolutely. Isn't freedom amazing?
  5. You still believe in God: Thanks, pretty cool having the light of Reason.
  6. You have military bases in every country: Aw, you're welcome little bro.
  7. Your portion sizes are ridiculous: We know, isn't this 72-ounce steak beautiful? Brings tears to your eyes.
  8. You don't have universal healthcare: Yup, it's pretty cool getting to see a doctor instead of waiting until you're dead.

MK 11 Mod 0 project completed (poor man's version w/ LMT lower and KAC upper)

Just some pics of my 'poor mans' Mk 11 Mod 0 replica. It has an LMT lower and a KAC upper. Scope is a MIL-SPEC marked NF 3.5-15x. Project started w/ a salty original Mk 11 case that I bought five years ago. I think it was in a batch from a gov't auction.

Yep, I bought this case in October 2019, and decided that one day I should try to fill it with an AR-10 type of rifle...
IMG_2360.jpg

...so I purchased a stripped LMT lower and then started a long journey...

...Five years later, now the rifle just needs the discontinued ‘Big knob’ KAC rear sight. (A buddy found one that he is going to send me with some other items this month). Unfortunately I didn't buy a KAC suppressor for it back in 2019-2020 for $1700 - before they were discontinued. That was a mistake.

The AN/PEQ-2A is dated Feb 2007, so its sort-of period correct as well.

For those who noticed the inventory stickers on bottom right side of the case. The original sticker for the Leupold 3.5-10x40mm scope was removed and handwritten in white ink pen is "SCOPE Q04328." That serial number correlates with a 2005-06 era Nightforce 3.5-15x militay scope. SOCOM awarded NightForce its first contract in July 2005, and some Mk 11 Mod 0s got these updated NF scopes in the 2005-6 era. The MIL-SPEC NF 3.5-15x scope seen here is a "P" prefix and from that same era. Just a random detail re the old case and the scope that I used. (This was not planned, as I didn't realize this coincidence until I called Nightforce, and asked them about the two serial numbers and prefixes).

Got lucky with this period correct NF “MIL-SPEC” 3.5-15x50mm scope, and in mid-2024 finally found a set of the hard to find KAC rings.

I shot it last weekend at a Quantico Shooting Club event for the first time. I cleaned the target at 300 yards with a 150-7x score with Federal 175 Gold Medal Match ammo. No complaints from me, except for the high cost of finally putting this replica Mk 11 Mod 0 together. Happy Friday.

M276 Dim tracer ammo pricing?

Good evening gents & Happy Veterans Day! I have been looking around the web for info on M276 dim tracer 7.62x51 ammunition. I have a 50 cal ammo can full of this stuff (right at 500 rounds iirc) and figured I would ask you guys what this ammo might be worth to shooters that could use it? I see some crazy ridiculous prices on ammo websites like $5/round for it but there's no damn way it's worth that. Just trying to gauge a fair and reasonable price per round before I post some of it up for sale on here in the next couple of days. Thanks in advance!
