Morning! I have a W3 with a Zeus action. Trying to make AW mags work. Mags I have are used, like 7 years old. Got them used so I'm thinking maybe they're worn out.

One round only, right side of mag, it feeds fine. Any more rounds they either hit the side of the chamber, or the bolt starts stripping the round but then rides over it.

I was told and I believe the lips on the mags have not been modified.

If someone has a spare known functioning mag I could buy or barrow that be cool.

The FBI is claiming there are no audio recordings from the LEOs on the ground which is ridiculous however, there were thousands of cell phones recording the speech at the time of the shooting which prove this was NOT a lone shooter scenario but a badly executed operation. While the guy is not a gifted speaker, it is clear that the lone shooter story is pure bullcrap. Audio recordings don't lie. You snipers will understand better than most.

Former USMC. Current Paramagic/Firefighter. Main squeezes are a 14.5 BCM and a 20" BCM. Learning to love LPVO's on those rifles and dipping my toes into longer ranges. Before the curtain dropped on Wa. State I gathered things for a large bore set up and finished that build last year.

Current range that I shoot at stretches to 640yds w/a planned expansion to 1000yds.

i know this belongs in the "Physical Fitness" sub forum, but that forum doesn't seem to get much traction anymore since we moved to the "filter" tab selection thingy a few years ago...

I am looking to get into state law enforcement with the PA Game Commission in my mid 40s. I passed the civil service exam, passed my PT test and am now in my 3 month long background check. I had my in home background check interview the other day and it went pretty well. The school is almost a year long and since I am older, I asked how strenuous is the PT everyday. I have lived a pretty eventful life and have tons of injuries and quite a few were life changing that just will not go away. One of the officers mentioned that they smoke you the first day there with a 1000 rep workout and I think he said a 5 mile run...maybe it was 5K run. They continue to smoke you the whole first week to weed out the unprepared students. If I make it thru the entire process, I have until March 1st 2025 (my own mental goal, not sure of the exact date) to be ready, the school starts sometime in March 2025. I will have literally just turned 45 in February. I am in ok shape for 44, definitely way better than 90% of the dudes my age. I don't have a gut, my abs are starting to show again, I'm getting back some muscle tone, I quit drinking 7 months ago (had nothing to do with this new possible career field), I quit smoking 7 years ago. I am 5'-10" 192lbs but everyone thinks I weigh sub 180...I don't know why. Maybe because I carry my weight in my legs (I have always had pretty thick legs). I was 220 with a gut before I quit drinking and would like to get back to 180 when i graduated high school when I had good muscle and no fat. I do realize I have lost A LOT of muscle mass and will probably retain some belly fat.

I am looking for some exercise suggestions to help me prepare. My running goal is 6 miles, I am up to 2 trying to keep my heart rate low at a pace of 10min/mile. My PT test was a pace of 8min/mile so I do know I can run faster. I can run/walk 3 miles. I do know he said it is 10 exercises of 100 reps each. He said, "The usual; push ups, sit ups, squats, mountain climbers, burpees and then a run". I asked for him to elaborate a bit more on the other exercises and he just said high rep body weight exercises. Other than the 5 I listed, what am i missing? Pull ups...those are gonna be killer. My shoulders are fucked with a capital FUCKED. I separated my left shoulder 4 times and my right 3 times. I tore my ACL in my right knee twice, had it repaired once and tore it again but didn't have it repaired the 2nd time, and had back surgery in 2013 when i was 33.

I tired looking for a standard test, but everything seems to be all over the place.

Ordered 1000 of these and popped open a box to check consistency as I’ve never run them and noticed striations running from the ogive towards the meplats. I assumed maybe from the pointing process or maybe cold forming but wondering if any of you guys have seen this and if it’s really anything to worry about?

Here's what we know as absolute facts.

13 JUL 2024- Former President Donald Trump was attending a rally during the Campaign trail for this years election in Butler, PA. While on stage- a 'would be' assassin fired several shots towards Mr. Trump, one of which hit his ear and narrowly missed his skull.
21 JUL 2024- Current President, Mr. Joseph Biden announces via Twitter/X that he is withdrawing from the election. As of this posting, no address has been made to the nation publicly other than a 'tweet' and the 'paperwork' being filed, on a Sunday of all days which is well known to be a busy day for government employees.

22 JUL 2024- Ms. Kimberly Cheatle testifies under subpoena from Congress to answer questions regarding the Secret Service's performance on 13JUL. Breaking from the usual decorum of said Congressional hearings, she is subjected to multiple representatives of the committee using profane language and demanding her resignation if not calling for being formally dismissed from the position. Ms. Cheatle also deliberately and obviously obfuscated answering questions from the committee.

23 JUL 2024- Ms. Kimberly Cheatle resigns her position after being questioned by Congress absolving her from personal liability moving forward apparently.

Help me fill in the blanks for the timeline here... from what I can tell we have the following-

*The excuse that SS agents weren't deployed on the roof of the 'almost' assassin, because it was 'sloped'. Furthermore, it was determined later that the counter snipers were deployed on other roofs with a steeper grade in slope.

*It came out shortly afterwards that bystanders not only reported the 'almost' assassin being on said roof, reported it to police, filmed it, and came out later that it occurred for more than 2 minutes. Also the counter sniper SS folks had the person observed at some point during this exchange.

*We're being told that the security detail that was supposed to be patrolling that building (at least as of today) decided to 'beat the heat' and stay inside instead'.

*AOC of all people, I'm guessing on Monday, even asked why the security perimeter didn't exceed the range of such a common rifle as was used in the assassination attempt.

*Somewhere prior to 13JUL and the previous disastrous debate that was televised, standing POTUS, Mr. Joseph Biden, he was swept away from the public eye due to coming down with COVID. Between this timeframe, numerous celebrities that have been longtime Democrat supporters called for Mr. Biden to bow out of the campaign.

*We had a moment of 'back and forth' of who the shooter was and (a comment I was previously going to share) after about 48 hours we finally got the name shared to include the Middle name. There was also a blip of associations with the shooter and BlackRock but think that's been quieted down since this weekend.

*Almost overnight, the standing VP, Ms. Kamala Harris, secured the Democrat nomination without any primary elections or due process AND broke all records raising over $81 Million dollars seemingly overnight shattering all previous records despite being one of the most UNpopular politicians in recent history.

I'm sure I missed plenty but seeing if the Hide has anything to add to bring some more polish to this most recent timeline I'd appreciate it. I know there's several threads already discussing these topics but was hoping to converge them into a single timeline. If you don't care to participate, fair enough, I get it I'll just leave you with this then-

Reading postings that most don’t clean their Rimfire bores until 200-500 rounds
Looking at my hygrometer, it says 73 percent humidity, after rain it goes up to 80 plus percent.
Powder fouling is claimed to be hygroscopic.
Is it really a good idea to leave your Rimfire sitting fouled for weeks in a row in this sort of humid environment?
I just shot 75 rounds of SK long range ammo, through a clean bore. Clean/oil or leave it as is?

Question:
Is it normal to lose this much velocity going from new (higher v) to once fired brass (lower v) for 300WM? Barrel had about 100 rounds on it before I did any of this, so if anything, I was expecting it to start speeding up a little between 100 and 200 rounds, not slow down. If it's expected that things slow down, is it due to a significant amount of case expansion (which I understand is expected in many belted magnums) and a subsequent drop in pressures?

Details:
Sako 85 in 300WM (edit: with factory barrel), setup and shot as a hunting rifle with factory barrel, not a target rifle.

Peterson "long" brass unfired, 75.2gr H4831SC, 180 TTSX, CCI LR Mag primers - good (enough for me) 3-5 shot groups consistently around 0.4-0.5" at 100. Chrono says 299x-300x fps - higher than I expected for a 24.4" barrel, but sure. Rifle shoots 1.5-2" plus 3 shot groups regardless of jump if I download to under 74.x gr or 2950 fps so I don't want to get it back under most published limits of 74.x. Groups tightened back up the closer I got to around 3000 fps. I didn't find a lower node for this barrel / projectile combo either - EDIT - apparently there was a node around 2825-2850 I dug out of some notes.

Go to once fired brass, same load, about the same amount of neck tension felt in the arbor press vs new brass. Chrono says 291x fps and groups open up to ~2" as expected. Try again at 75.4gr and still no pressure signs, velocity 2935-2940 now, groups shrink a little bit to ~1.5" as expected per previous results.

No pressure signs that I'm aware when I was working with new brass or afterwards with once fired brass - no hard bolt lift, flattened primers, crater in primer, weird recoil, etc. ejector marks not applicable on this action is it's functionally CRF.
