For sale Barrett 98B. This is pre-MRAD and has a fixed stock and the barrel is fastened via a AR15ish barrel nut.
This is chambered in 338 Lapua Magnum and has a 27" barrel with 1:9.4" twist.
I received this rifle new and have fired a documented 492 shots.
The rifle wears a 360 Precision steel arca rail with R-Lock as well as 2 pairs of Sawtooth Rifles steel weights. Empty, with optic and no bipod it weighs 20 lbs.
It has a Leupold MK5 180223 7-35x56 mil/mil scope with PR2 reticle with Alumina scope caps in a Spuhr 5002 mount. If you don't want the optic I'm sure I could find a new host for it.
I have an MDT elite vertical grip on it but the original is also included. The safety is on the right because I use it as a thumb shelf, to reverse it simply hold it between the fire and safe detents and pull it out then re-insert on the other side.
Included are 4 magazines and 2 High Speed Gear mag pouches.
There is a Thunderbeast muzzle brake installed but the original is also included.
There is a Barrett rear monopod included as well as their picatinny accessory rails and sling swivel stud.
There is a Barrett cleaning bore guide included.
The rifle is in a Pelican 1750 custom cut case as received from Barrett.
The bipod shown in some pictures is not included.

Package shipped in conus is $6000 or best offer, $4000 without scope and mount. Like I mentioned scope can be removed if you want. Reloading dies, brass, bullets could be included if interested. I had an extra upper/lower and decided to put a 6arc together, this is just a range gun. It has a 20” barrel and been looking at Druid hills ammo, 58 Grain Hornady V-Max , 75 Grain Hornady V-Max, 90 Grain Hornady ELD-X. Should I just buy all 3 and see what does the best or does anyone have a opinion where I should start? Thanks

I called and talked to Brad at Urbanrifleman. He knows his stuff and has Remage barrels at a unbeatable price. He talked me into a 6XC for now, put my order in and shipped it the same day. Had 6XC dies and bushings in stock, he even sent me results of the same batch of barrels another shooter is using. Lead me to david tubbs website for brass. Great guy to talk too and will give you advise and guidance on where to go. This is a Remage build on one of my Remington 700 actions in a chassis.
Will be using a 26" 1-8 barrel tubb 160 freebore and he swears by the 112gr match burners. My only issue is h4350 is hard to find currently but on the lookout. Anyone used varget or imr 8208 with 105 or 107gr ?

I have been trying to figure out the weight of two barrels that I'm trying to figure out how to bestgo about reducing their weights (T3 lite 308 Win & T3x lite 223 Rem). Initially I was thinking about swapping out the barrels to two Proof CF in 20" variety... but those aren't cheap, and wondering if there isn't a better option that would rival the weight savings for fewer pennies out of my pocket. Problem is, I can't find what these things weigh in the first place, now what weight I would be looking at subtracting from those initial weights for things like cutting the original down and/or fluting them after a cut down. Doing research and though I haven't found my complete answers yet, I thought I would post what I have came up with from various other sites, to have all in one place, for anyone else who might find it helpful.

T3x 308 & 223 = 6.4 lbs factory weight, complete rifle (add 0.2 lbs for factory open sights)
T3 = ??? factory weight of complete rifle varied 6 - 6.5 lbs from various source and couldn't find it on Tikka website any longer to verify.
T3x 308 & 223 = 22.4" factory barrel
T3 308 & 223 = 22.4" factory barrel
T3 receiver, bolt, and trigger = 30 oz
- T3 : Adding plastic mag box and bottom metal to above = 33 oz (aka 3 oz more for these to be added on)
T3 BA = 4.4 lbs (aka 70.4 oz)
T3 barrel (unknown caliber or length) as deducted mathematically from above info:
- Never found anyone who weighed just a barrel, and only found one person who weighed a BA and they didn't say what caliber it was, or the length, but using the two figures above: 70.4 oz - 30 oz = 40.4 oz (aka 2.525 lbs)
  - From context clues I believe this was a 22.4" 308 but they didn't specify that and I can't verify it, but it's the best I currently have to go off of unfortunately. Do with it what you will. They did specify it was a T3.
T3x action (I'm assuming this means bolt and receiver, no trigger) = 28 oz
T3x Unknown Munitions recessing = -4 oz (aka shaves action down to 24 oz)
T3x 308: cut to 16.5" (probably technically 16.9") and threaded = -6.5 oz
- They noted they sent it off to be cut/threaded and could not verify themselves exact lengths.
T3x 308: cut to 18" (probably technically 18.4") = -4.6 oz
T3x 223: cut to 19" (probably technically 19.4") = -5.2 oz
- Question: So at first I thought this made sense, 223 would have a thicker wall so more weight reduction per inch... but the barrel lengths are the same on the 308 & 223, and Tikka is claiming the 308 & 223 weigh the same amount as a complete rifle... so is this data point incorrect, or is Tikka incorrect... or is there a explanation where these could both be correct?

- Assuming by looking at the diagram on this page, I'm assuming most barrels are straight for the entire section that I plan on lopping off.
  - If that assumption is correct and using the numbers from around the internet:
    - T3x lite 30 cal = about 1.1 oz per 1" cut
      
      Given aftermarket barrels are interchangeable I would assume this applied for the T3 as well, but can't verify that.
Fluting... I didn't add any data points as there seem to be to many variables. How deep, strait, spiral. Let me know what you think one would typically expect from a flute job.
20" Proof CF 308 barrel = 2 lb 7 oz (aka 39 oz)
20" Proof CF 223 barrel = 2 lb 10 oz (aka 42 oz)

So about a year or so ago, I was doing velocity loads on different bullets for 308 Winchester. I was using virgin Winchester 308 brass so finally about 90 pieces. I decided to clean them and prep them for another firing at the same time I had some IMI 308 ball cases, and there were approximately 100 round to do this which I cleaned at the same time.

The IMI military brass was great , the pockets were not crimped but it took some pressure with my RCBS primer tool to seat them. Unfortunately when priming the once fire 308 win cases the primers went in with very minimal resistance in all the cases.

Thinking about it some of the top end ladder loads might have been a little warm. but most of them were with AR COMP or Reloader 17. With the Re 17 it seems you just can’t fit enough powder in the case to over pressure them . After I go done I started thinking these will not work out well in my gas gun.

So these 80 cases will go to loads for my bolt loads. But this does not give me a warm fuzzy about this brass. I have another 150 or so of these. I’m thinking of reloading I should go to SRP either Peterson or Alpha munitions brass.

I thought I was out of the Long Action lust, sold my Fuzion action and one of my blanks, but the chassis and second blank didn't sell. Went to the range the other day and decided I want back in the long action game for 1k yard range games. The situation is I have a long action chassis and one 7mm blank, but sold all of my 7mm brass. Have a stockpile of 6.5mm heavy bullets, so should I go back in at 7mm PRC with the blank I have and not buy projectiles, or build a 6.5prc and buy a barrel and brass? Currently have (2) 6.5CM rifles built, as well as a 6CM, and brass for a 6GT (just need a barrel).

I know its a "6 in one hand, half dozen in the other" scenario, but the furthest we can stretch out close to home is 1k yard range. Not really used for hunting, but would like the ability to throw it in a HNT chassis later on. What would you do is the question, 6.5PRC vs 7PRC?
