What you wrote is correct and has become a fad. There are two issues, what I’ll call medical conditions, that can happen to someone regarding their mental and/or physical traits and sexuality.
1. First is Gender Dysphoria which is defined as ”Gender dysphoria is the feeling of discomfort or distress that might occur in people whose gender identity differs from their sex assigned at birth or sex-related physical characteristics.”
Gender Dysphoria is a real mental condition that needs medical treatment. I feel sorry for any person or family struggling with this mental condition because it’s real and can be distressing for anyone afflicted with this condition. I have no animus toward these people trying to get help with this condition.
Not sure exactly when but at some point in the last 20 years or so the treatment for people that struggled with Gender Dysphoria changed. It went from recognizing and treating the condition from a mental perspective at a physcologist and/or a psychiatrist over to puberty blockers and radical cosmetic surgery which in almost all cases can’t be reversed.
The treatment protocols have now changed. The new MIC (Medical Industrial Complex) went from mental health treatment to “be whatever you think you are“ or as they say “Embrace YOUR truth” then get on puberty blockers, change your name, buy all new clothes and instantly the problem is corrected. After that is done your doctor will refer you to a cosmetic surgeon who will lop off your penis or cut the breasts off a 14 year old girl along with puberty blockers aka chemical castration.
After surgery your transition is complete and no more problems your a new person. We will now make sure the entire country will embrace your new “Truth” and bend our culture to adapt to your mental illness. But did the MIC really do anything to help the person with Gender Dysphoria and their mental illness? Answer is a resounding NO. The MIC says embrace it don’t deny it. That’s why the suicide rate in the tranny community is reported to be 47%.
2. The second condition that exists is what the tranny community loves to espouse is “intersex” or Disorders of Sexual Differentiation (DSD) and claim it’s proof of trans people that are ”born this way”. This is defined as:
“Sometimes the genitalia of a baby born who has intersex traits is noticeably different. Here are some possibilities:
- a clitoris that’s larger than expected
- a penis that’s smaller than expected
- no vaginal opening
- a penis without a urethra opening at the tip (the opening might instead be on the underside)
- labia that are closed or otherwise resemble a scrotum
- a scrotum that is empty and resembles labia
It could be that a child’s status as intersex doesn’t become obvious until puberty, when their body produces more of a hormone that doesn’t match their assigned sex.”
Problem is the condition of Intersex or DSD is a statistical anomaly and a birth defect not proof of people being born trans. It’s reported to be less than .05% of all births. It’s basically siamese twins. Some people unfortunately are only born with one arm for example but do we see shirts at your local store with only one arm hole in the shirt? No you don’t.
The satanic part of all this is the woke corporations, parents, teachers, school administrators, teachers unions, the medical community (MIC), cosmetic surgeons, the government, sports leagues, progressives, and ultimately the military for promoting a mental illness as normal.
It’s pushing parents and kids toward irreversible surgeries and drug treatments that in most cases doesn‘t address the real problem then force the entire country to live the lie right along with them. That part is a LIE and is Satanic.

I'm not sure - they graduated and my kids had real expectations of adulthood at 18 so one is a marine and the other is married with 2 kids.

My youngest daughter went through a phase kinda like this. she was wanting to go to some furry convention at one point. She wanted to wear a mask thing she had made everywhere she went, but we had limits, and didn't allow a lot of stuff, but tolerated a lot of stuff. She would walk around the yard with it on, probly why most of our neighbors won't talk to us. She outgrew it thank goodness. Now she's just "thinking of being trans".
I sure hope that parenting is just doing the best you can, and giving them all the love and support you can and hoping for the best.

I think the same thing...often. We're raising our kids in a world very different from the one I was raised in. I didn't have any sisters growing up, I have a couple step sisters, but they are quite a bit older than me, and were never around.
I have a older daughter that's 17 that is a model child. Doesn't cause any problems, isn't into weird things I don't understand, she's not even interested in dating, she's nearly identical to her mother when she was that age.

My wife and daughters do church every sunday, but they were doing it online for so long, that's how they just do church now. They sit down on the couch, put the computer on the tv tray, and they do church. Youngest one fights it, but i'm probly not helping because I don't participate, I don't do church, i'll deal with those consequences when my tickets punched.

I'm hoping time and maturity will prevail, along with a healthy dose of parenting along the way. She's tried the pronoun game with me, saying that she wanted me to call her "Neo", and he/him. I said no, that's not your name, and you're not a boy, you are biologically a female, I know this because I could see the hardware when you were pulled from your mother the day you were born. I also like to give her a sense of one-upmanship on her sister by reminding her that when she was born, because she was a c-section, her head wasn't funny shaped like her sisters was.
I've seen so many changes in interests, attitudes, and everything else over the last few years to feel confident that this is just a weird phase she's in. I've noticed that many of the kids in her school that don't really fit in with your major groups of kids, have started to identify as "LGBTQ". When I was in school we just thought they were "weirdos". Now however, those kids have some serious power, and they're figuring it out. When one of the kids from the outside groups make a comment about them being "gay", or misgendering them, or teasing them, or pretty much anything that kids do to each other at that age, the kid outside the "LGBTQ" group gets in a shitload of trouble, and the counselers swoop in to talk the lgbtq kids to make them feel better.
We live in a very different world now. It's like a pendulum of norms swings back and forth, and right now it's swung a little too far one way, so everything just seems weird. Hopefully some rationality, sanity, and normalcy will return, but i'm more concerned about some seriously difficult times ahead....and I don't mean like "damnit my cable's out" kinda hard.

Mental illness is being accepted across the left from gender dysphoria to zoanthropy. These are clinical conditions, and if they were treated as such my guess would be those pretending them, and pushing them as a "lifestyle" would go away fast.
My son was accepted to Art Instatute of Seattle to be trained as a culinary chef.
He lived in the Instatute dorms and his "dorm mate" was a furry.
The furry would show up real late at night with some other furry the guy found trolling around.
My son told me that the furries wanted to fuck and decided the best place was in the closet where the furry kept his clothes.
My son told me the furries did their best to make fuck noises that coincide with whatever species they are.
I can imagine it was a royal pain in the ass trying to sleep when there are wolves and wildcats barking, howling and meowing.
