.300 prc and ramshot lrt.

It's a bit on the slow side for that cartridge. For reference, it's even a bit slow for .338LM with 300gr bullets. It's more suited to larger magnums like .338LM Improved. That being said, if you have no other alternative, it's not that slow to be unusable. You could probably get 2650fps out of it.

Edit: this is what QL predicts

I got some rounds over a chrony today. 84gn at 2842 fps. 84.5gn at 2900 fps. 85gn at 2985 fps. Here is the kicker, I forgot the tri pod for my chrony so I placed it under my target at 100 yards.

Do you have any further updates on your LRT load development? Any data and related group info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I got a chance to shoot some more today, but the temps dropped 20 degrees in the middle of my ten shot ladder. The velocities were bizarre.

All charges were thrown and weighed on one of the Canadian AutoTrickler scales.

I was using ADG brass and Fed 215s with LRT powder and Hornady 208s.

Magneto speed readings
87.0: 2,970
87.2: 3,006
87.4: 3,022
87.6: 3,002
Temp drop and storm
87.8: 2,979
Waited it out
88.0: 3,044
88.2: 2,998
88.4: 2,990
88.6: 3,070
88.8: 3,021

I’ll try 87.4 for speeds and groups next time. I’m trying to find some loads with components I can find pretty easily.

Three shot group from sighters yesterday.

LRT heats the barrel very hot, very quickly. It’s a heavy Palma that’s slow to cool.

Went to the range today and got a few rounds through a new barrel (Howa 1500, Shilen 28”). Virgin Lapua brass, GM215M, LRT, ~ 3.8” (020 jump).

230 A-Tip:
86.0. 2914
86.5. 2931
87.0. 2973
87.5. 3031 - Light ejector mark

250 A-Tip
83.0. 2814
83.5. 2834
84.0. 2808 (??)
84.5. 2893
85.0. 2898 - Light ejector mark

These were very small round count test loads on a new barrel, 20 total rounds, so take it for what it’s worth. It did seem like the highest loads on the 230 A-Tips had better consistency on velocity and group size.

I’ll try some larger round count tests next Saturday.

My barrel only likes the heavier bullets 225,230, and 250’s. Ran out of RL25 and RL26. Been using LRT with my latest load work up. Need to get my Lab Radar to check these out. I know these 250’s are slow but my 24” 1:9 barrel likes them so far. I’m jumping up to 82grs on the next loadings

Yeah necro thread, but it's mine. I have a remington 700 in 300 prc. It has a 1/9 twist 26" barrel. I'm using 82gn of LRT to push a Berger 230gn OTM to 2600fps. I'm going to step up in .5gn increments until I see pressure signs.
