Vudoo Gun Works V-22 Rimfire Bolt Action

Finally got my 360 back from Keystone. About 50 rounds into it, I was having extraction issues pretty consistently. Can't remember what the extractor is supposed to look like but I think I might have broken the extractor. The left side looks different. Hopefully this is my extraction issue. If not, I've got bigger issues.
What ammo are you putting through it, that you're having extraction issues with?

The lower one is the tensioner (left), the upper the extractor (right). Your bolt looks normal.

I was using SKLRM. If my bolt is normal, now I'm stumped. The SK is the same ammo lot used before I sent it off. FYI, the barrel is a green mountain barrel with Keystone Match chamber.

On a right-handed action, the right side in the bolt is the extractor, while the left side piece is called a "pusher" or tensioner - its purpose is to keep the shell pushed over to the right to keep the rim under the extractor hook. This is the case with all the Vudoo & Rem 40X RF actions. My early Gen 1 V22 repeater worked great for about 500rds, then started having issues with extraction/ejection. This was back in 2017 when the first V22s were released. I called and talked with Paul, explaining what was going on, and he told me that they'd made some changes to the extractor/pusher parts, and offered to fix it if I'd send my bolt back to them. I explained that I had some experience with tuning those parts while working with the two 40X actions I'd had converted to repeaters to use the V22 mags, and was very willing to modify the parts myself. He promptly texted me a video showing precisely what they were doing to change the parts, and I was able to modify mine with very little effort or time. That rifle has worked with 100% reliability ever since.

But with your 360, I'd be calling John at Keystone to get his opinion.

So have a Gen I that I’m wanting to get rebarreled. It currently has a 18” Kukri profile (this was the trend back then) now I want to go to a 21” proof competition, MTU, M24. I have been reaching out to the “poplular” smiths who have been building a few of the top Vudoo’s being used in NRL/PRS style matches only to learn that the Gen I action cannot be rebarreled to match the headspace and that Vudoo has don MANY improvements and they recommend just buying another full barreled action with a 360 action.

Awesome to know my GEN I has so many problems and isn’t worth a rebarrel. LOL

Contacted Vudoo and they said they would look at doing the work starting at $700.

Who else is doing Gen I rebarrels?
Contact Johnathon @modacam custom rifles all my guns are gen 1 rebarrels and I’ve won almost every match in the country the past few years. He will fix you up

This post is related to the firing pin strike posting...

I have been studying the primer strikes on my Vudoo and noticed how strong they were. Several types of SK ammunition end up with the rim bent they hit so hard. Had me debating if that affects accuracy by affecting seal, headspace or rebound after impact? what's the school of thought on this?

Below are pics on my primer stikes in the Vudoo. Notice the bent rim on the SK Rifle Match in the second pic.

The Eley imprints have me baffled. I am second guessing I mixed up my casings between the Vudoo and another 22? As expected, note the light Eley imprints, but also makes me think Eley have a harder case head in their brass?
thks

PQ, you might want to shoot 5 rounds of the same ammo, with a lighter spring in the Vudoo, or maybe a have turn in on the bolt. Either/both should lighten the ignition strike, and lighten the case imprint.

These are hard to tell visually. I started about 2 years ago measuring case depth with a dial indicator. It's helped me understand how consistent my ignition was (or wasn't), so I adjusted the spring setup and moved my trigger hanger to get a very consistent 0.021 case depth across 10 rounds. This might be something you want to consider. FYI.

Thank you. However, I think I messed up posting in this forum as I have a Vudoo 360 and not a V22. I still have a fair bit to learn about the Vudoo platform as I am newer to it...I presume my 360 does not have the capability to adjust the bolt or spring?

What do you mean by case depth? The depth the firing pin crushes the primer/rim?

I don't own one so I'm not sure. Someone else will need to make a suggestion or you can call Vudoo and ask them if there's a way to adjust the ignition to lighten the case imprints on a 360. Maybe JBell would know?

Yo Dude, how are ya? Just passing through....had a few minutes of idle computer time and got to wondering, "what are those mopes over in the rimfire section up to today?" :ROFLMAO:

Doing well, Mike. Had hoped to hear from you when you were in my neck of the woods last fall... then you went silent. I figured you have been, in the vernacular, "up to sump'tin." Looking forward to hearing more.

Sorry Dude, I needed time out of the mainstream, so I backed off, collected myself, been flying a lot and ultimately, we've been developing some stuff that has been pretty important. Most of the focus has been on handguns (https://www.theoutdoorwire.com/releases/26fdc072-c9ad-4495-bb48-485c294b9030) as it's quite tiring to see what's been happening to people. Seems I’ve now captured the attention of a large corporate quagmire, so back into the mainstream I go.

Frankly, it feels good to be back on SH, I think I’ll stick around a while….👊🏻

Cough cough previously I believe you had hinted at a 17 and/or a 22 Hornet, I believe. And maybe a Fireball? Any news on that front? (I know this is the rimfire section, but hey, the man is here).

Maybe I’ve got you confused with someone else.

Edit: no, it was you: https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/where-do-we-go-from-here.7142509/post-10510871

Man, you guys aren’t lacking in the memory department 🤣😂. Yep, that was me, and yep, those plans are still very much alive. There’s also new rimfire but I’ve obviously been dragging my feet and don’t want to be low class and talk about it in the Vudoo thread.

I’ve got my 👁️ on you, MB.

Lol!

Glad the micro action CF is still kicking around in your sphere of influence!

Coincidentally, first time I've seen any posts from Mike for quite some time, and I called VGW for the 1st time in a long time today to ask about magazine follower mods to promote smoother feeding with flatnosed Eley Match ammo, and got a very helpful & friendly reply - like always. I keep thinking about needing to get an appointment to have both the V22S rifles lot tested at the Mesa facility, and then fly the Bonanza over to St. George to visit with Paul & the crew. Been so long since I flew into that place that they've built a new airport in the interim.

He was certainly something... I was just surprised that you guys had worked so closely in the past. Let me tell you fellas, MB's mentor was definitely the real deal, I've met him!
He was, but I seem to remember it a little differently. After seeing what he ordered for breakfast, two bologna and jelly sandwiches with a jar of pickle juice, I was scared. That's the breakfast of choice for the Rhodies.

Subscribed, I just started the build process on a new 360. I’ve been following this thread for quite a while. Over the last few years I’ve owned 5 CZ457’s. My latest has a Lilja 23” barrel, a Holeshot tuner, a Scar trigger, in an MDT XRS chassis that shoots fantastic. I’m having my 80th birthday soon and decided to splurge.
