Ive got a handful of cans everything from Rimfire to .223 to .30 to .458 but I don't like swapping cans on and off so I'm looking for a good can to just leave on a 8" 300blk AR for supers and subs... only real requirements are 1.70" diameter or smaller and $650ish or less
Thought about a polonium 30 or a direct thread omega or maybe a lahar30 but never held, heard, or been around any of them.
The .30 can I already have is a magnus and it's awesome but I don't want to spend that much on another and it's too big to fit inside the handguard of my 300 anyways

I love my polonium k. I love my YHM cans but I got the OCL because YHM had minimum barrel length restrictions which I am sure are there for a reason but OCL doesn't so i can use it on a ridiculous 7in AR build that was just meant for laughs. Quites it down a ton but nothing is going to bring that down to hearing safe.

I bought a Resilient Simple Man 7.62 as a second can for an 18” 6.5 Grendel we thermal hunt with. It’s a basic 30cal can that’s hub compatable. While I can’t tell much difference shooting the gun, beside and behind the rifle it seems quieter and sounds better than my Surefire 762 mini on a 5.56 and the Grendels. It’s about 1/4-3/8” longer than the mini. A bit gassier. If you pay any attention to ejection patterns, it changes the rifle gassed 18” setups from 5 o’clock to about 3:30. I haven’t seen a need to use an adjustable gas block.

I haven’t put it on any of my large frame rifles yet but I’m sure I’d want a BRT tube on my midlength MWS 308’s. It would probably be ok on my 16 & 18” rifle gassed 308 & 6.5 Creedmoors.

Be aware, if you use the standard Rearden mount you’ll need to use short muzzle devices as the blast baffle isn’t very deep from the threads. It works fine with the short Liberty Precision Machine flash hiders I have with a standard Rearden.

Poi shift has been 3/4 moa and repeatable. Accuracy hasn’t been affected.

I’m happy with it for $475.

ETA:
No first round fireballs at night.

It’s ruined my son. He doesn’t even want to shoot an unsupressed rifle any more.

If you can wait for one of their 30% off sales (Memorial Day might be the next), the Rex MG7K can be found under $400. It’s a tough, no frills can with pretty decent performance. It was my first can and I’ve been pretty pleased with it.

The Omega 300 checks a lot of boxes for you. It is at your price point and it is narrower than your diameter requirement. Some bonus features are that it is full auto rated and pretty durable and I like hub mounting systems. (I realize you said you are going to leave it on but it would suck to get a suppressor carbon locked where you have to pull the hand guard to get at it.)
