Re: Should I do a FL size before building a dummy

Otherwise won't the chamber be fit for whatever dimension this batch of brass is brand new and not what I'll be able to repeat once I do a FL size which it will need eventually?
Was thinking about this last night but have no clue.
edt: I know I'm talking about very minute differences but have never gone this route so looking for guidance.

A few things. Lapua brass is well made and I'd be willing to bet that it's already SAAMI correct 99/100 times.
I think you need to be more concerned with whether you want a 'no turn' neck, than whether you have 'headspace' either long, or short. I'd prefer to be right in the middle for H.S., personally.
Unless you're using headspace gages to measure and compare your fired rounds from chamber X, to your sized cases via die Y, I don't know if randomly sizing a case is going to matter too much?
Without gages, you're kind of guessing anyhow, or at least needing to do the slow/steady 'trial and error' method, when you're setting up dies to closely mimic 'a' chamber.
Worry about what type of throat you want, what bullet(s) you'll be mostly shooting, how close to the lands can you be while still feeding from the magazine, stuff like that.
I think those that those things will matter more.
