Recently purchased a gen 4 folder and have a couple questions, some may be pretty dumb but figured worth asking now then feeling stupid I didn't later. And yes I've read ver the FAQ's page on Scott's website and done some quick research online.

This rifle is used for duty, tactical comps, and paper/steel punching out to 1500 yards.

First ad foremost, anyone with a Mcrees; which grip are you using? I would like to find something larger than the standard a2 or moe grip.

Secondly; Bedding? I know it's not required but has anyone done it or would it help?

Also what's the largest countour it will accept?

Last question: what is the best way to paint it? Currently tan would like to go black.

Thanks guys. Currently depooyed But can't wait to post pictures of the completed rifle and range reports!

Specs: Remington 700 trued out with a pt&g bolt custom handle, brux barrel 24" mtu contour 1-10 twist (may opt with 1-11.25 havent decided yet) with AAC 51t brake (AAC 762-ad suppressor), Harris bi-pod... Should be one hell of a broomstick.

Re: Mcrees precison (gen 4) questions?

I have a gen 5, but I don't think there is alot of difference other than cosmetic miner ones.
I have a MOE+ right now, I want to try the Ergo (?)grip, it is thicker than the original grip, I don't know what that model of the Ergo grip is called.
Almost any AR grip will fit, if it has the riser at the back you just need to cut it off.
Don't bed it, just bolt your action in and shoot it.
The chasis will accept a barrel profile up to the same diameter as the receiver (1.35" I think)
The best eay to paint it eould be to have it cerakoted, but you can always just ise krylon, easy to change and you can get creative. If you don't like it clean it off and start over.

Re: Mcrees precison (gen 4) questions?

i have a gen 5 and i am running a miad grip on it and really like it much better then the a2.

i would not spend one waking second on thoughts of bedding this chassis. it has 100% contact of the reciever machined into it. you are not going to achieve anything bedding it.

it will accept a barrel as big as the action od.

if you are desparate to have a rock hard target indicator black finish, i would alumminum oxide blast the chassis then cerakote it.
