Shot this 6x5 bull on the second morning of my hunt near Hayden Colorado. He came in bugling, snorting & stomping to the calls of my guide. The shot was about 120 yds - I was using my BlackOps Precision .300WM & some custom loaded Barnes TTSX by McCourt Munitions.

The ranch is enrolled in Colorado's Ranching for Wildlife Program & can set their own hunting season within this program.

Re: My Colorado 6x5 bull

Ammo performed well - first shot went through both front shoulders on a broadside shot. The elk buckled hard & ran about 50 yds and stopped facing straight away from me, slightly uphill.

The 2nd shot hit him in the center of the spine right in front of hind quarters - it traveled the length of the bull and then exited out the neck.

First shot had him, but like my Outfitter says, if they're on the hoof, feed'em lead (copper in this case)!!!

180gr TTSX? I'm using the 180TSX in my .300WM currently and will hopefully be drawing a good tag next year. I'm sure the bullet will do it, just curious.

Yep, 180 grain Barnes TTSX.

That one will look good hanging on the wall.

All these pictures of hunts make me wish I wasn't working and had time to get out west. I got to see a lot of elk last fall in northern california.
