I haven't had the need to go through these classes as I live in WY where a CCP is not necessary but I'm now traveling a lot and think this would allow me more freedom in transport and carry in other states. I looked up the requirements and they are vague at best it even says something about military service counting for the class requirements. Anyone have any advice on what class to take or has anyone used military records to get theirs?

Wyoming does not accept any other carry permit so why should any state accept its?

Your miss informed there hessian WY has reciprocity with Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and under most circumstances Colorado, Florida, Maine, Michigan, New Hampshire, South Carolina

thoughts?

In Wyoming you can get your permit with nothing but a DD214 or Hunter Safety card. Or proof of any type firearms competition.

The cheapest way, if one wasn't in the military is a hunter safety course, ($5), most people have to have them anyway to hunt. But as I said, the DD214 works, My wife got hers with her Navy DD-214 though she didn't do any shooting until she joined the NG.

But, yes, even though a CC permit isn't required, I highly recommend any resident to go a head and get one. I live in NE Wyoming (Newcastle), and like most of us here do our shopping in Rapid City. South Dakota recognizes WY Permits, but not carrying without a permit.

Also eliminates the background checks when you buy a firearm.

Oregon used to accept some proof of military service, verification of being an active competition shooter, and just about anything that meets the requirement that the applicant complete a firearms safety class. Requirements vary from state to state, so you have to check each state's laws regarding reciprocity, and meeting requirements to get a permit.
