I found myself wanting a new carry gun, and had found a beautiful Smith and Wesson 640-1 Centennial in 357/38 Special on GunBroker. I bid, and won. Called the guy up, gave him my payment info, and he told me he would call me back with the shipping info. All sounded like it was going to plan until last night around 1600 as I was driving home with the lady he called me.

Seems that one of the guys workers at the shop had taken the same revolver to a local gun show and sold it and there was a miscommunication. The gentleman was EXTREMELY apologetic and felt really bad for what had happened and refunded the money immediately. He offered to find me the same exact pistol somehow, and give me a screaming deal on it, or if I saw something else on his auctions to let him know and he would make me a deal.

When I finally got home and got onto GunBroker again, I started looking for another Smith until I decided to look at his other items for sale and came across a 2007 Sig 229R Elite Two-Tone. I have had a 229 before and it was one of the most accurate 9mm's I have ever shot, so I gave him a call back and he 100% stuck to his word and made me a deal on the Sig I couldn't turn down.

Anyone looking for an awesome guy to deal with in Texas or on GunBroker I can 100% recommend Dan at Texas Firearm Sales.

Damn, it's rare that someone takes the time to post up a happy GB story. I feel your pain on that 640 though. I had an original 940 Centennial that I loved; loaned it to my dad while I was in Bootcamp and it got stolen. Nowadays when I see them they are beat to hell and priced ridiculously.

Thank you sir. That Smith would have been an awesome snag but I am sure patience will find me another one. That Sig will hold me over just fine until I can find another Centennial.

In buying on GB since, probably, about 1999 (almost as soon as it started), the only bad experience I ever had was buying my M45A1 through Gold Deals. And the gun was superb, so was the deal. But shipping time and communications were poor.

But I have never had a bad experience. And I have bought a lot of guns via GB.

That said, there are plenty of opportunities to get tripped up. Someone here (Tucker, perhaps?) posted a list of Gunbroker Do's and Don'ts recently. And they were spot on.

Cheers and congrats on the nice Sig!

Other than $40 bucks a lb. gun powder and $100 bricks of .22 ammo I've never had a problem. Well, there was this one issue I had to take care of, but we ain't gonna go there.......
