So I’m curious for those of you that have them both, or have tried them both, if there are any advantages and disadvantages between the NF Beast and the NF ATACR F1 7-35 using the exact same reticle. I currently have a 7-35, and have come across a fair deal on a Beast, (which I’ve always wanted), but curious if it will be a let down compared to my 7-35. If so, I’d much rather just buy another 7-35. Would love some feedback guys. Thanks.

I liked my beast quite a bit, but today I think a 7-35 is the way to go. If you need the beast features, then nothing else really compares, but it is a purpose built optic (so is the 7-35, but it has more mainstream features), and you may not like it as much for everyday stuff.

What are the features that are more mainstream or features that aren’t good for everyday use? Just asking because I hear these comments, but don’t really understand them. I figure both optics are probably fantastic. I have a BEAST and I absolutely love the .2 mil turrets and overall turret feel, but I can’t understand what would be a disadvantage.

I completely agree with your last sentence. It seems that many people don't though.

The BEAST was built around military specs for a fast dialing extreme range scope. The .2 turrets made some civilian shooters feel that it wasn't as precise for their needs, and that the throw lever for the .1 was complicated and annoying. Combined with the turret lock, it just isn't as popular with mainstream LR shooters, because of the very features that basically brought it into existence. There's a little more, but it isn't for me to say on a forum, as I don't know exactly what NF wants public or not about this scope.

The more mainstream reference was to the market and shooter preference for .1 adjustments and non locking turrets. This would also remove the much maligned .1 lever.

It is an awesome scope, and if you actually understand how to optimize its use (most BEAST haters don't) it works perfectly. Sounds like you get it, so I would just enjoy it as one of the best scopes ever made.

Thanks for response. It amazes me how much hate comments it receives. Reticle choice is so subjective, but if you pair the .2 mil turret clicks with a reticle that has .2 mil subtensions (H59), it’s incredibly fast. With use of the lever you can force all your holds to hash marks within the reticle. I realize it’s not all that difficult to estimate between 2 .2 mil hash marks, but it’s nice to just grab a hash mark in a hurry.

Obviously if you need the 35 on the high end then it's a no brainer. I'm on my second BEAST and it my favorite scope out of all the high end scopes I've had. My current one has the H59 reticle and the lever is rarely touched. There is enough info in the reticle that the .1 elevation is not needed 95% of the time.
