Be prepared to have 350yds and closer become boring. I wish there were longer ranges closer to me.
Having graduated from tinkering with savages the reliability is amazing. My wife and daughter have short stroked and hung it up though. I just told them to run the bolt like you’re trying to rip it off and there’s been no more issues
Basic bitch here as well, but proud of it! I don't see myself ever selling my AT unless I can't put food on the table or something. I have a pretty nice TL2 setup that would probably get sold first. Nice as it is, AI just makes a bombproof rifle.
And yes, there's no need to baby them. I don't "abuse" my rifles (I was raised by a gearhead/engineer and I'm a trained mechanic as well, so I was taught to maintain your tools if you want them to outlast you), but I run my bolt fairly aggressively. The AI just eats it up, and does so while being smooth as butter. They're just in a whole 'nother league!

I've seen yours, and I'd probably buy it if I had the scratch. The SamB bipod rail, the NV mount (which one is that, anyway?), and the 16" barrel would all find happy homes here, but I can't justify another at the moment.

I’ve killed my self at the reloading bench this week, but it’s gonne be worth it. Here’s my fiancé shooting my dark earth AT one last time before her first PRS match tomorrow. Went from GMM 205’s to CCI 450’s and my SD cut in half.
The wind totally screwed me on the last shot. Moved the backer board, not the bullet lol.
I’ve killed my self at the reloading bench this week, but it’s gonne be worth it. Here’s my fiancé shooting my dark earth AT one last time before her first PRS match tomorrow. Went from GMM 205’s to CCI 450’s and my SD cut in half.

Lapua brass, CCI 450 primer, 42.4 grains of H4350, Berger 130 Hybrid .020” off the lands. 2.170” CBTO.
Anneal after every firing.

Not sure exactly where to post this question, figured this would be as good a place as any.
Recently purchased my first AI, an AT in .308. I've noticed that the first round will pop out of the mag on occasion either during transport in the case or if it's dropped onto the shooting mat. Doesn't happen during firing/cycling.
I would think the logical solution is to give the feed lips a tweak, but thought it would be better to ask first. To be honest, I've not keep track to see if it's one specific mag out of the three.
Any direction or thoughts on the matter would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm interested in this as well, as I have a mag that does the same. In fact, I wound up with two double feeds in the last local match I shot because of it. I should have marked that mag, but didn't have the presence of mind to do so mid-match. Does AI warranty mags, perhaps? I could keep that one as a range mag for sighting/load development/informal plinking, but getting it back to correct running condition would be nice, at $70+/each...

Did it happen mid-mag, or with the first round? I had this happen with my AT, and discovered it happened only when I really rammed the mag in when I loaded the rifle. It would cause the first round to pop up above the feed lips and cause a double feed when I tried to chamber the first round. Once I started seating the mag a little more gently the problem went away.
Having a round pop out during seating has happened to me once. Like you, now I just give the mag a good push and a gentle tap. Biggest issue with my mags is having the top round or two wiggle out during transport. I'll reach into the mag pouch and find the top round half out, or nestled on the right side (rear view). A little digging, sure enough there's a loose round in the pouch.
As Badfinger suggested it might be spring pressure. I dis-assembled all the mags and slid the followers to the rear of the bench. One spring was slightly (1/2") shorter that the other two, and more a a straight down cant rather than to the rear. I pulled all springs about 1" longer, and bent the lone mis-behaver to match the others. There is definitely more spring pressure when loading rounds. A drop test revealed something interesting. When dropped on it's left side from about 24" nothing popped out. Dropped on it's right side (10th round facing down) a round will pop out about every 3rd time.
For the time being I'm going to accept it as the nature of the beast. Store loaded mags rounds up, slid rather than drop and continue to use a gentler seating pressure. I seriously doubt the added spring pressure will affect chamber feeding. a range trip will verify that.
Actually, it was the second round, not the first, now that I think about it. I'd get the first round off, go to chamber the second round, and boom, double feed. I run my bolt with some authority (not enough to move off target, but enough to make sure I don't short stroke), and I'm not going to change how I run the bolt for the second round alone.
My AT arrived at my FFL today and the thumbrests arrived also. I won't be able to pick up the AT until Thursday but I'll install the thumbrest immediately when I do.
My fiancé and I both had issues with my AT mag at a match yesterday. She went to insert the mag and a round or two popped out, caused her a double feed on another stage, and twice when I was seating (not ramming) the mag in I had one pop out.

PRS Club match yesterday. Fiancé’s first match, and I think she’s hooked. She also KILLED it. Had never shot any kind of match, and never past 550. 1,207 yard first round impact off a tire!! Excellent day.

Dang. Your rifle definitely looks more dark earth than tan compared to the thumb rest. Let me know if you want to swap it for a black one. If you’re willing to mail the tan one back I’ll ship you out a black one now.
Its pretty white tan, but I am probably going to be spraypainting my skins anyways, so it’ll be a good base color.
Sorry guys, I thought the tan would match better with the tan AT skins I have seen. Obviously colors are really limited with the PETG material, that’s why I didn’t do a green one since it was only that neon zombie green haha. Anyone that ordered a tan one and would like to swap it for a black one just let me know and I’ll send you a replacement.

I have been shooting a pre-14 AX in 308, and it's the most accurate rifle I have ever shot. It's also easy to develop a load for the AINA/Dave Tooley barrel. I liked it so much that I finally got a used AT. I am going to get a 6.5 barrel for it. Haven't decided whether it's going to be a 260 Rem or 6.5CM yet. My question: in changing barrel for the post-2014 AI rifles, do you guys simply hand tighten the barrel or still use a barrel wrench to certain torque? If you use a wrench, is there a good setup to take advantage of the flat milled onto the barrel?
Get a 49 in lb torque wrench from MHSA. Hand screw in barrel, torque down, shoot.

I looked at the MHSA site. The 49 in-lb wrench is for the barrel screw. How about the barrel? Just hand tighten it?

Field report on the mag spring stretching. 40 rounds, no issues, fed like a champ. Never thought to do a hard mag seating test, to cold. Transported mags rounds up, no problems. It does take more effort to load the mags, but it's not thumb buster significant. The AI journey continues...

Right, screw on barrel hand tight to the action threads, then take the torque wrench and use it to tighten down the “quic-lock” barrel screw. Done. There are also reports on folks just using a 4mm hex wrench torqued down to “hand tight” and having repeatable results.
Note: I do not have an AI (God willing soon though). This is exactly how I saw a member switch barrels (from a .308 to a 6XC I think). I think his zero (which was repeatable) was about .5 Mil off. You should only need barrel flats/wrench if the barrel is really stuck on for some reason. Others with more first hand experience may have more to add.
Oh and any technical question can be answered by EO are MHSA, I’ve had sellar customer service from Mike at MHSA so far and haven’t spent a penny with them yet. I have heard Jason at EO has excellent service as well.
I moved my whole schedule around so I could go pick up my AT today instead of Thursday. I just unboxed it about an hour ago and will try to give my first impressions out of the box (obviously haven't shot it yet so take it with many grains of salt).
I ordered my AT with the competition trigger already installed in it by Mile High. This is one I don't need range time to tell you, it's the best trigger I've personally ever felt.
I have a Manners EHF1A stock in one of my customs. Not to disrespect Manners but the difference between the AI folder and Manners folder as far as security is night and day. I read an article awhile back about AI rifles and in it, the guy described the folding hinge as being like the door to a bank vault. That is certainly how mine feels and I won't take it for granted given how my other folders feel.
The pistol grip of the AI fits my hand very well. I will be installing my @samb300 thumbshelf on Thursday since I'm tired enough today and tomorrow that I'd screw something up.
I loaded one of the magazines with some rounds and fed through them all. There's a sound like an airlock when the bolt brings the round into the chamber. The ease of loading the AW magazine and the feeding actually left me with a stupid grin on my face.
All in all, it pretty much blows every other rifle I have out of the water including my customs.

Agreed. I’ve owned and shot a ton of customs, and they’ve came and gone. Once I got my AT I realized there’s no going back. Only way I’d get rid of my AI would be for another AI lol. They instil a pretty high degree of confidence.
