Accuracy International Picture Thread

I’ve made some changes to my AT, swapped the Gen 2 Razor for an AMG and added the Big Dog Steel spigot mount since I’m trying out a Wiser Precision mount for my Magnetospeed and needed a mounting point for it in front of the bipod.

16” .308 barrel that was cut from a factory AX308 barrel

26” OTM 6.5x47L barrel

I was shooting the 6.5x47L earlier today with a new load I worked up for the Berger 130 VLD. 4 of the 6 groups each had 1 flier from mistakes I made, (Grad school and bad weather have really degraded what little skill I’ve ever had. Was shooting prone with bipod and rear bag) but you can see the barrel was printing between .2 and .5 moa without my shooter errors. I adjusted the zero after the second group, which is why you see a shift in impact. You can see at the top of the target the load I’m using, it’s around the 2905-2915 fps range.

I’m looking to replace the OTM barrel soon with a Proof carbon prefit also in 6.5x47L. I’m also tempted to try the comp trigger despite my love for the original trigger.

PB ain't on an AT either. You’ve got black, ODG, and Tan.

I picked ODG obviously because I’m not a peasant.. should be here Thursday!

Edit: I was wrong! ODG still the best for an AT, Sage Green for an AX.

Oddly enough, I ordered a sage green AX308 that should be here Thursday as well. I'm stoked. I've been wanting an AI for 12 years and I'm finally getting one.

Now I need to find the right back pack to carry it in.

I would like some advice. I have decided it's time to get a new AX. I already have 4 precision rifles, 2 chambered in .308 and two chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. I do not reload and haven't felt I've missed out on accuracy to this point as I've gotten great results with factory loads in both calibers. Since I have four short action rifles I've been thinking about an AXMC in .338LM for something different. Have any of you with an AXMC chambered in .338LM had good results with factory match loads? If this gun and caliber requires reloading to get, say 1/2 moa accuracy, then I'll most likely stick with an AX in another SA caliber. Thanks for you advice.

This thread is for aficionados of Accuracy International and perverts like me who want a glimpse at it. Take your Sako weilding propaganda elsewhere please and make room for more photos I can look at.
Agreed. Here you go! This is a picture from last year.

*Fun fact about the guys shooting these rifles, from top to bottom:
1) Upgraded to AXMC and NF 7-35
2) Upgraded to AXMC.
3) Upgraded optic to Razor G2 w/Spuhr mount.
4) My rifle...unchanged haha.
Bonus fun fact, we were shooting a match in IL, otherwise all four of us shoot suppressed!

To be fair I upgraded because of a great deal. If I could pick a color, I would pick black because it looks most badass.

I don't think anyone questions why one would upgrade to any AI variant
Also, Sage Green will always dominate. As you can see in the picture above, the Sage Green rifle (mine) actually blends in to the grass, and since we don't live in the desert, your tan rifle will always look odd.

Since I'm already here . . . if you're not looking for multi-caliber capability, get yourself a Sako TRG42 in .338. Be warned, though, every "tactical" trigger (including AI's) will feel like garbage after you get the Sako's set to your liking. The Sako trigger makes the AI trigger feel like a Nerf gun. If you're in the Middle Tennessee area any time, let me know and you can shoot mine.

ETA: The downsides to the Sako are: 27" barrel (a bit too long), Euro threading for muzzle devices, expensive magazines, and you have to work a little bit to get it to accept something like a PVS30 (but it can be done with KRG stuff). The upside is that it's insanely accurate, weighs, what 2/3 the weight of an AI?, Trigger, Trigger, Trigger, and did I mention that it's insanely accurate?

So your biggest criticism of AIs is the trigger? Have you felt the AI competition trigger?

Lesser . . . hahahahaha. I provided the positives and the negatives of the TRG - objective. If you say anything negative about AI on this forum, you get slandered. AI makes a good LOOKING rifle.

You're welcome to bash AI on the forums all you want, just do it in your own thread and leave the rest of us, who enjoy AIs, to enjoy this thread about AIs... That's why it was made in the first place. Feel free to go start your own AI haters thread and have a ball! :)

Perhaps, if you spent more time SHOOTING your AI, and less time LOOKING at it, you would develop the skill to appreciate it. A little less time trolling this thread couldn't hurt either.

Buy what you want. Buy what you can afford. Get proficient with it, and be proud of that.

….and then start your own thread. If you love the TRG, great! They are nice rifles. After you start this new TRG thread, post some groups, dot drills, or some other tangible proof of their immeasurable superiority to the AI. Until then, you know what you can do with your pie hole.

Then you haven't looked hard enough. See post #437, page 9 of this thread. I posted here before I could even get the AX from the gun shop. It's back a few pages, but it's there. I was ECSTATIC. I couldn't wait to get it out there to shoot. I spent some time getting it all set up perfectly, but when I went to put on my ACI, and it wouldn't fit over the rail (because, I would learn, it was out of spec (and still is). WEEKS went by, I was sent a 2ND AX (same exact rifle, spec wise), and was given the green light to shoot it even though its rail was out of spec, too. That was FEBRUARY. A LOT happened between now and then, but I still don't have an IN-spec rail. 8 MONTHS!

Nevertheless - for the hates and doubters: View attachment 6954652
Did you pause to think your ACI was out of spec, not the 8.k rifle? Or is that in another thread?

I don't know you. I can only judge by what you post. So far, your posts have focused only on what you have observed about your AI, not about results obtained by using it. So the rails are out of spec. If no accessories would fit, then its a problem. If the ACI is the only one that had an issue, find a way to make it work. Modify it. Mount it to your Spuhr. FFS man, for the money and time you spent verifying whether the rails were in spec, you could've had a one-off adjustable mount made that would compensate for the rail. The ACI should have that anyway, almost everything else that attaches to a rail is adjustable these days. Stop the hand wringing, adapt and drive on.

For all your lauding the TRG over the AI, it is not superior to the AI for mounting the ACI. It doesn't have enough rail space to accommodate an ACI. I bought my AI for the accuracy, the durability, and the reliability, and it has never let me down. I didn't buy it to see how much junk I could hang on it. But, the accessories I have mounted, have given no problems. I simply adjusted the mounts to fit my rail. Were they in spec? Don't know, DGAF.

This sounds like it was supposed to be an insult. Maybe it's not, but it sounds like it is. If you don't have a level and you're shooting beyond, say 300 yards, you're doing it wrong (my range goes to 1250).

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

You can't be serious right? 300 yards and a level or you're doing it wrong, really?

Oh and for everyone else. Pale Brown is the best AI color.

Pale Brown for the win.

Rockne, I must have missed a ton of targets this match because I didn't use my $6 vial of water. Your brain is a better judge of level than any vial. But it's pointless to argue with you since you already have your mind made up my man. Welcome to the ignore list, a distinguished place of honor that only one other has managed to stoop to.
