I saw a spot on the late news last night that turned my stomach. City of Austin conducted a gun turn in in which they claimed to have amassed 65 weapons. People interviewed gave lame reasons for doing it, did not need them, did not want the kids to get them, inherited and never used, etc.
Wondering if this is an omen of events to come.
We have a city council that can rival anything Commiefornia can come up with, and those interviwed are the kind of idiots that vote for them. Thank God we are a red state with a red legislature and a Governor who loves the Constitution.

People want to turn their shit in of their own volition to the police for safe destruction fine by me.

Personally Id try to sell the items to a law abiding buyer and make some money.

Whats onerous is the City using tax payer provided money to "Buy Back" firearms in a virtue signaling show to make people think they are doing something.

Usually when that happens you get people coming to the city with their broken junk guns to get money to upgrade their current gear.

Man, I used to love going to Barton Springs in the summer, and Curra's Grill on Oltorf. WTF happened to Austin, it used to be a great city.

The result of Liberalism. Austin is on the same path as Commiefornia and the other Liberal cesspools. The Liberal bedwettersare moving here from Commiefornia and New York to
get away from the problems caused by Liberal politicians and high taxes, and when they get here they try to turn it into what they just ran away from.
That's my definition of stupidity.

You gotta follow those things, and show up in front of the turn in station with a big wad of cash. See what kind of goodies you can snag.
There were people there holding signs want to but them and they were ignored by the feel-gooders.
I did not see anything on the tables that I would have wanted.

Briscoe Cain was talking about doing just that.

I told him he should auction off anything he gets that's remotely valuable, and donate it to the campaigns of folks like RJ Boatman who will help put an end to that horse shit.

Was it a turn in or a buy back? I keep meaning to stock up on $39 Anderson lowers to cash in on a buy back, but haven't done so up to this point...

Big tech moved in, that's what happened. TI went under, and they had to fill it with something, so you got the migration from CA (Bay area). Then add the emerging music scene, of all the kids that think they'll use Austin as a spring board to the L.A. music scene, and well, you attract a lot of liberals that vote that way.

Sad.

The crap really got rolling when the hipster weed nerds, UT political science hobby commies, Willie Nilly, and Hollyweirdos started converging for the PBS publicized Austin City Limits Festival. Once Austin became hip and "happenin'" the trek East from Commiefornia was on with champagne communist celebrities (by the way the word celeb means dog in Hebrew) leading the invasion. They would never move to Texas if it weren't for their big city urban bridgeheads. Dems don't do so well in the country where they might have to touch some dirt besides arugula and weed gardens to make a living.

Texas is becoming a victim of our own success. Lower taxes, Great business environment, oil and gas, great road systems. BUT with that the assholes from other states moved here in droves and vote for the same stupid policies the messed up they’re former homes.
I would love to see a 5 year waiting period for out of staters before they can VOTE! If in 5 years they haven’t figured out why Texas rules we’ll gladly show them the exit.

If y'all don't start nippin' this thing in the bud by getting everyone to vote and keeping an eye on election machines, and ballot box handlers you'll end up like Colorado. The Locusts always move to invade the greenest pastures, ask the few California conservatives left how their state went from Ronald Reagan administrated Red State to Comiefornia.

I turned my gun in.

Not stupidity, insanity. And I think we can all agree that insane individuals should not be in possession of firearms. The real tragedy is that these are the same people that think you shouldn’t have them either. And they vote.

Read something a while back about a guy who built 4 or 5 shotguns out of water pipe and sold them at a "buyback". He spent something like $10 each in materials at Home Depot and turned them in for $100 each if I remember correctly. He said he was going to put the money towards a new shotgun.

It's your tax money, might as well try to get some of it back... (and mine, and everyone else's two)

News report of voluntary "gun surrender" event.

A bunch Fudd Guns. They interviewed one and it went like this.... ahem...(turns on Country Fudd accent) "I'm turnin' eein ma twunté-too eye've hay-ad for about fifteh yeers and ain't never shot eeit. Don' wan'it in the house any'mo."

Just watch the video. Its awesome. Virtue signaling at its finest. No, I wouldn't be interested in any of the rusted-out Fudd Guns that were turned in anyway.

Just place all your dirty money in an envelope, can provide pre-addressed envelopes also, seal, and place pre-paid postage in the upper right corner and place in any US Postal Service mailbox. I would like to see that you could only vote in the state you where born in. I wasn't born in Texas, but I moved here because I liked the way things were.

The Democrats - the party representing "the poor, and under privileged" like Bloomberg, Soros, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Gates, Buffett, the Clintons, Obamas, and Steyer LOL! And yet you have gun grabber supporting idiots buying into their intellectual low level flyer agenda by the millions. They should rename their party in line of truth in advertising as Idiocrats.

This guy was in line in front of me. The officers running the program that day thought it was hilarious, they pretty much high fived him. They were mocking the entire idiotic program while they were running it. Everyone there was like me, making $$ off of old junk. I had a good payday that went towards a rangefinder. I also reached my limit for the day so I hope they do another one because I've got more to sell!

If you fix it up with an old A2 pistol grip from the parts box would that make it an "Assault Shotgun"? The barrel is already threaded so that would be "strike 2" for places like California

I went to a protest at a gun buyback in Dallas a few years ago. We approached anyone walking up to the buyback and told them we were holding an auction across the street.
Got several to come over until the cops made us stay on our side of the street.
The best gun we saw was a NIB lever action of some sort.
It was mostly junk, but I did get to see myself on the news that night.

I wonder how many are “no questions asked” types of events. Where some shit head gives up someone’s rifle they stole out of their camp etc
