I have not found an official copy of the presented documents yet (ignore the bs in the media) but from what I see in the briefing this looks like
  • A sensible and well thought out strategy to get back to business
  • A small experiment of what some folks suggested to avoid a hot civil war. Let the blue states do their thing let the red ones go their way. We'll see in short order how that pans out.
If we can avoid bad flareups in 'flyover' country, this whole crisis might just work out in favor of the conservative side.

However, we have to keep our head on swivel. We saw the Dims sneaking their agenda in the relief package, the Reps bailed their hedge fund buddies out with some of the money, and is possible that someone slips another turd like the so called Patriot Act into our soup.

Be vigilant, be ready to resist any foul play by our elected servants, but keep the tinfoil in the drawer.

I would look at the statistics in another quarter or so. A lot of numbers have not settled yet. For example, case fatality rate went down initially (as expected) then up again (why is anyone's guess) and will eventually converge towards some 'final' value.
Keep in mind when people "generate" numbers they can make them anything they want.

I sometime joke that I do not believe any statistic that I have not forged myself.

However, if we have lost all faith in the raw (!) data that the CDC, FBI, etc. publish, then we have lost our culture. Trust is what allowed Western civilization to ascend to its glory. Trust is another word for written or unwritten social contracts that we expect to be honored.

You have to travel to other countries and cultures to understand that. The people living in the so called 'shitholes' are not any worse than we are individually, but as a society, they were not able to raise the moral bar to a level where it promotes lucrative trade, amazing discoveries, and unprecedented wealth. Here, corruption is the (unfortunately growing) exception, over there it is the rule. We have some dirty cops, they have not a single clean one because bribes are their salary.

Are there a lot of worms in our apple? Yes, but I still believe that it is still an apple and not a banana republic yet.

I'm looking forward to the part of this crisis where we have certain states opening and closing a bit out of phase, and we start finding out how difficult it is to produce and distribute goods under those conditions. Gonna be a whole lot of politicians and pundits that receive an advanced education in real-world economics.

Eventually we'll end up with a more-robust economy, but man there is going to be some short-term pain.

Will states that open too slowly lose their industry? Will they move over time to states with more reasonable positions? Only time will tell. But there are always unintended consequences is things like this.

Notice the resistance from mostly Dem governors to reopening. I believe their stated reason of "making sure it's safe" is secondary. The primary reason is they are becoming addicted to their new found powers. They have discovered they can basically do anything they want, and no one will question it. As long as it's for "the public good". They are tyrants at heart, and this entire fabricated crisis has exposed them for what they are.

A buddy of mine in Alaska and I had a quick chat about this. From the virus less people have perished, by staying home, no car accidents, not about for criminals to prey on, less exposure to the lethal threats of every day life. Second and this does not apply to me, people are staying home bored and get horny, have sex and some will get pregnant. So in nine months hospitals should see a big increase in births. It happened in New York City years ago when they had the black-out. Guess we'll have to see, only if someone tracks that data?

Many states would make their citizens suffer in unemployment until November if it would get them the White House back.
I HOPE that the progressive governors go full retard. That's the beauty of this plan where the governors have to make the call. If you want to find out someone's true character, give that person power.

At some point, the citizens of these dictatorial states will get up on the barricades like it already started in Michigan AND they will make sure that these tyrants don't get into the White House. Just wait 'till more gullible sheeple get desperate and realize the ride they were taken on.

I disagree. I can't think of a single governor that would risk his or her career if it meant winning the White House. Hell, most of 'em probably benefit politically from having the opposing party in charge in DC.

Starting to read where people who had the virus, got cured, are getting it again. Hope it is not true. Would then be a mistake to re-open the country until such time as we get a vaccine!
As for the suicide rate of people who do get the virus...would be difficult to ascertain. Peeps would get the virus fast, not really know if it was the virus or just a cold/flu bug then too weak to do anything about it.
Whatever you decide to do about participating on opening your state, I hope you and yours are safe.

That's not what he meant.
