Accuracy International Picture Thread

It's the dichotomy of SH.

In one recent thread I participated in I was told that everyone should have an AI because of its robustness and its ability to withstand a 2-story drop test. Contrast that with another recent thread in which people stated you should remove your scope when removing a barrel, because a 2 foot fall will kill your ZCO.

Entertaining.
SnipersHide is slowly becoming fudd central. Turning into the AR15.com of the bolt gun world.

You used to get good advice and responses. SME’s used to frequent SH. Those days are long gone.

Well. Someone has gone around banning all the OGs for minor disagreements. And said “I have so many new members joining every day I don’t need the problem ones”.

So arfcom here we turn into

Suddenly we've gone from "most reliable rifle in the world! 100k rounds of 308 through a 1997 AW!" to "I need 3 bolt assemblies to feel safe shooting 2000 rounds of 6 GT per year

No, first of all, last time I talked to the rifle owner, it was up to 210K rounds.

LFPs need to be converted to SFPs occasionally. Additionally, the bolts can be used for 300 WSM conversions.

Lastly, you should know how hard an extra bolt has been to get historically.

You of anyone should know better than to make that above comment.

Robustness doesn't matter if you pierce primers or manage to pit your bolt face due to loose primer pockets.

Shit happens with any gun. I plan on keeping my AI's forever so spending a few dollars on some spare parts is a prudent thing to do in my eyes.

If you don't like it then don't do it...I don't really care as that should make spare parts easier to find for me.

I also plan on picking up a couple of spare triggers for my AI's since they're proprietary. Sadly, I was slow and missed those for sale in the PX a couple weeks ago so I'll wind up just buying them new at some point.

You wanna know the one good thing that is solid about the AI platform?

You could use the damn thing as a damn club/baseball bat and it would still hold zero after you got done

Do you guys keep 2 spare bolts for all your other rifles?
Who has other rifles??? 😂

I mean I have the three complete assemblies and one complete (spare) 308 bolt for my AXSR. Same reason I carry a spare trigger and three 308 mags (two match use and one spare).

If I’m at a match, I want to have a spare should something happen so I’m not out a match fee, ammo, travel, time away from family, etc.

I see no issue with carrying spare high use/critical parts.

I'm not dogging on you guys for doing this.

In fact, I think its smart, given the availability of AI parts (or lack thereof).

Sorry for my misunderstanding you in that case!

The lack of parts availability really sucks that's for sure.

I just went to try to find a trigger and it appears that EuroOptic can't buy them and MHSA is out of them so I guess I wait.

Exactly. It's not that the parts fail, it's just that given AI's track record of long backorders some people want a spare on hand so they don't have to wait 6-12+ months for a replacement part in the event AI is out of stock at the time of the failure.

I really like my AIs but it would be nice if they stocked a deeper spare parts inventory. Mile High has said they keep a decent stock of parts for service and warranty work, but that inventory is separate and not on the website for end users to purchase. (They also don't like selling individual fire control parts to end users unless you've attended the armorers class, they prefer you send the rifle or bolt in for service.)

Last time I ordered parts I had to wait almost 10 months for a couple different colors of AT and AX plastics kits, and anyone wanting LH rifles or LH bolts wishes they only had to wait 10 months, lol

Why are you guys feeling the need to buy 2 spare bolt assemblies? Even if you have 2 rifles it seems unlikely you'd have both go down at the same time and not be able to get one repaired/replaced by AI
I orderd 2

One will be converted to WSM to run 300 WSM

The other is a spare. These aren’t easy to find so I took advantage of it. I will always have AI’s of some flavor and having critical parts on hand is a good thing just in case.

Honestly how many people here brag about their custom builds being reliable yet carry spare triggers or bolt parts for a “just in case scenario”. Especially guys traveling long distances and paying $$ for matches.

How many NF or ZCO guys do the same then carry a spare optic or have had theirs go down and used someone else’s to finish a match.

I thought about getting my 2014 LFP bolt bushed by LRI but then that combo is married for life and any issues that may arise would likely need their assistance to fix. Now for instance if I break a firing pin or something I can just pick up a spare and it’ll fit as it’s still factory

I’ll run the 2014 it in its 308 form which is 99% of its life. But should I sell my ATX for a AXMC or another AT eventually I’ll have the spare SFP bolt to run my 260 barrel on my AT or a 6mm/6.5 barrel etc. I’ll just swap the bolt to avoid primer piercing issues. Or if I buy another early AT like I have it won’t matter what bolt it comes with as I’ll have a spare SFP for it already

It’s got nothing to do with reliability in my case. But everything can breakdown so having spare stuff isn’t a bad thing.

The prices never come down on these either. The WSM versions have sold for about $1500 on here already. So investment wise for the future I don’t think you’re loosing out should you convert it over and sell it later

Mine showed up exactly 24 hours after ordering just fyi for those buying one

^ wow the at looks chonky next to the atx
So far the AT is the wife of guns. She’s a bit heavier set but there for you on your worst days. She reliable and devoted to you entirely and you hold those vows deep in your heart and you never let her go

The ATX is the more trophy wife. She looks good. You keep her around to show off to the boys. But in the end you’re still trying to figure out if it’s true love or just fooling yourself and chasing inner desires to find that one true thumbhole AT that you’ll spend the rest of your life with

Honestly the AT is still my preferred choice between the two. I’ll spend more time with the ATX to decide if I want to keep it or get another AT as the green one has a job to do most of the year and remains in its 308 configuration shown above almost entirely

But yes she’s blocky for sure and the ATX is certainly more suited for shooting off props and barricades

And that’s not an AWM but we don’t hold it against you for lack of trying over the years to pass it off as one 😁

If anyone is looking for a spare trigger MHSA just ordered 5 of them from AI after I asked about getting a spare.

The part # is AI-26895 but they aren't on the website. You'll need to call in to backorder it and payment is due when the order is placed. There's 4 of them remaining after I grabbed one.

Who's running anything but an ai?
Jk

Yes I always keep spares of hard use/critical parts. Never had an og trigger fail but I got 2 spares.

I work in mfg... I understand ai has said they will maintain their supply chain but... I also understand it's not profitable to do so.... One day that will stop

Here I was having fun just lurking around. Now I’m having to ‘contribute’ again 🤦🏻‍♂️ lol

1.35” for 5”. Then taper to 1.25” at the muzzle.

Need more weight to manage recoil? Hit the gym. And then add some weights… to the rifle

Thanks homie! The masses appreciate it

Also, to be fair rifles other than AI (like my TL-2) allow me to just replace the bolt head rather than the entire bolt body w/ head so it's $85 per bolt face diameter to keep spares rather than $1000 each for the AI. It's much easier to swallow $85 than it is $1000.

Meh ATX is the perfect wife. Does everything for you and looks good doing it The world is full of props. Fences, mirrors , equipment railings/roofs , tripods , hoods , windowsills , etc

ATx > all

I couldn't help but notice after your last couple of posts...

Do you even own an AI? Or are you just throwing everything in a chassis and calling it an AI ? ;)

No wonder Frank keeps banning you... J/K

What the hell kind of logic is that? We pay $85 for an Accuracy International sticker in this thread.

Is that the standard or comp trigger? Remind me - the standard trigger group, is it trigger group compatible with the AXSR?

That’s the standard trigger that comes with the AT.

I don’t think it’s compatible with the AXSR as I was reading earlier today that the AXSR and AT-X triggers are different (springs or something), however, I could be wrong.

First of all, nice to see it’s still ES. Secondly, congratulations on the win! And thirdly, since you are Mr. 308, what were you using for this comp?
I was shooting it in .223…

…that identifies as a 225gr 300PRC going 2900 😂

But I’ll be back to my regularly scheduled 308 175gr shenanigans in September. Then it’s open class from here on out. The 308 will get cut down (along with the rail lol) to like 13.6” and live out as a fun shorty suppressed 308.

13.6 sounds so hot rn

Just in case anyone’s sitting on an AT they don’t like

Any particular reason why factory? Number if different companies can spit one out for you in that or very similar contour very quickly.
I wish I had logic as to why factory, but I don’t.

I am supremely confident in many barrel companies based on their reputations, but I still want factory.

Thank you for asking.

I have.

They are out of stock.

I might end up preordering from them as I have had good luck with that previously.

Manzella makes awesome barrels and has history with AI. Basically a factory barrel but more accurate.

My 6cm barrel shoots lights out and much better shooters than me only use his barrels due to his consistency and attention to detail.
