The new update should stop that.Using mine yesterday and 2 shots into a string and it decided to ask if I want to update it. Conveniently it also stopped recording shots when it did that….
Amen to that!Ditto! It takes up a lot less space in the range bag.
Wow!, finally broke down and picked one up. I have borrowed a buddy's a few times to see how it worked. I haven't had a chance to shoot yet so I do have a couple questions.
I did download the app and paired it, did not elect to use the cloud.
1-Without a session, is there a way to start adding firearms in the app?
2-Once I do have data, is there a method to add a target picture to go with a session or to note a particular shot?
3-Do I need to pair the two each time or I simply export data and add it later on the app or once exported is the data automatic?
Please take note my computer repair kit is a 3lb. mallet

Those would be an excellent addition. I would expect them to consider this stuff as I'm certain competitors will introduce a competing product.Within the ShotView app itself, I believe that these answers are correct.
1-Without a session, is there a way to start adding firearms in the app?
No. There are no firearm profiles stored in the app. At the end of a session and after the session is transferred to the phone app, you can rename the session to something more meaningful.
2-Once I do have data, is there a method to add a target picture to go with a session or to note a particular shot?
At the end of each session and after the session is transferred to the phone app, you can add notes. You cannot add pictures.
3-Do I need to pair the two each time or I simply export data and add it later on the app or once exported is the data automatic?
No. You do not need to pair the Xero to the app each time you use it. You can create many sessions on the Xero and once paired to the app, all the sessions that have not been transferred will then be transferred.
It would be nice if Garmin did add:
- the ability to create/store rifle profiles
- the ability to copy session names and notes to another session or reuse names and notes from a previous session.
- the ability store pictures for a session
- the ability to ink to a Kestrel to store environmental data for the session
That’s a good question.I haven’t tried Pausing and powering off to see if it retains the session as open to adding shots.
I can confirm it does. My 60 round 300prc session was shot over two weekends.I haven’t tried Pausing and powering off to see if it retains the session as open to adding shots.
Good to know. Thanks.I can confirm it does. My 60 round 300prc session was shot over two weekends.
Yep, it will. I posted this here way back when they were just released. I was hoping they'd have fixed it so you don't have to Pause it first by now.I discovered that if you pier off the unit without Pausing the session it closes the session and, just like ending on intentionally, you can’t get back into it to add shots.

Do you know if the sun shade model will fit in a pelican 1040?Hey guys,
Wanted to post an update that we finally released some more additions to our Garmin accessory lineup-- full production of our rubber, molded protective cases for the Garmin Xero finally arrived. We made these with and without a sunshade for those that prefer one or the other (though the sunshade also does great at deflecting impacts away from the screen when dropped or with brass / debris flying around). These are made the same way iPhone / Android cases are made and fit tight and with no slop at all.

I have a feeling Garmin is going to outdo itself soon, with a shitload of integration. The market is wide open, and they can build off this Xero cash cow.So, forgive me if this has been covered (but I don't want to read 55+ pages of BS right now lol)...
But, I figured the Xero would import weather info (degF/inHg/%) and attach it to the different sessions on its own or via the ShotView App..?
My ~$150 old-school ProChrono DLX with its Digital Link App does this.
Que?

A Lilygo T Echo has a MH280 sensor, gps, and radio built in for under $100. Meshtastic node. Integrating with kestrel and xero too would be cool.Maybe Garmin could incorporate some clever software and get it to talk to a Kestrel’s environmental data.
Just a thought, since a lot of range finders talk to the Kestrel for distances.
The nice thing about a Kestrel is that it gives you real time environmentals right at your location. Cell phone weather “grabs” might be miles away from where you are. And they aren’t really real time either. With most weather services I’ve seen on my phone, the updates are at best 10 minutes old.
FWIW, I also will put a note on each session in ShotView about environmentals.
They, regardless of the specific they, will always be thinking up ways to charge us for shit.they may just be taking their time thinking up ways to charge us for shit
I think Kestrel and Shot Marker are both right in their wheel house. It will depend a lot on what they perceive to be the market size of each product IMO.While mowing the lawn, I just listened to the Hornady podcast about the Xero with a couple of the developers, Ep #131, as mentioned above.
My impression is they seem too smart to have forgotten about adding weather or some other useful features some of us might bring up... if I were someone like Kestrel I'd be watching my ass, it might already be too late lol.
As an aside, coincidentally, in an unexpected twist of irony, spoiler alert, the narrator dude in the podcast starts it off by dissing the ProChrono, acting like it's some caveman device that's impossible to use (it's not) lol!
So the OK button stopped working and it must've broken off because the day it stopped working I noticed a rattling sounds inside the unit.Got mine yesterday and took it to the range today. 66 shots and not a single unrecorded shot. But I did notice something. The OK button needs to be pressed much harder than the rest of the buttons for it to function. Anyone else has that issue or is that normal?

NoDoes your guys chrono start acting up when it gets hot?
Mine has when I was using it direct sun and got super hot. I think there was a temp warning that popped up on the screen.Does your guys chrono start acting up when it gets hot?
I think I must have missed the temperature warning last time I used it. If I ever see that message I'll throw it on the AC for a little bit. Last weekend though it just kept saying analyzing shot every 2 seconds, and wasn't registering anything when I actually did shoot. I also was shooting at 7pm at night when it wasn't as hot out.Mine has when I was using it direct sun and got super hot. I think there was a temp warning that popped up on the screen.
Mine hasn’t done that but it has missed a few shots fired so far. Not sure if it’s because the Gray Ops cover was on while it was in use, or because there were trees crowding my line of sight within ten feet of where I was shooting.I think I must have missed the temperature warning last time I used it. Would be nice to see a heat shield made for these things.
I haven't had any issues here in SW Florida, just came back from the range, shaded though, been multiple times in same conditionsDoes your guys chrono start acting up when it gets hot?
Need to try it with mine yet. Thanks for reminding me. I forget it can do that.20 shot string today. Had the lowest extreme spread and lowest standard deviation ever!
Of course I was shooting my bow.
I feel you, brother. I owned my LR for 4 years and certainly got it to work well as evidenced by my chrono data spreadsheets I keep.I’m still sticking with my LR (annoyingly bought just before the Garmin launched) but every time I have to set the stupid thing up and get is located just right I think about buying a Garmin.
The arca attachment just makes so much damn sense, means it’s always aligned and doesn’t matter if shooting off a tripod, bench or barricade.
Bullet weight is not a saved setting. It needs to be set for each session. If you don't set it on the C1, you can set it on the mobile app later to get the calculations you want.Quick question: I initially set up mz Garmin with the desired bullet weight, then disabled the prompt for weight and info screen. When I start another session a few days later the bullet weight is not set anymore, I have to do it via the app. Did I maybe fuck something up?
Im tempted to say defective. These things never miss a beat in my experience.Took mine out this evening and can’t get it to log any shots. First 2 it didn’t record and then it recorded 3. After that it would not record any. Anyone have this issue?
