adding a data point, TT Diamond Safety failure

Putting this on the web to add another data point to a seemingly rare issue. Today my TT Diamond Pro Curved R700 RH, safety stopped working. The movement started getting gritty, so naturally i cycled it back and fourth and it froze up within a few cycles. No damage visible on the outside. Contacted TT awaiting response. The Trigger is stuck in the Fire position, and the weight has not changed, it operates normally otherwise, but i replaced it with another TT Diamond just to be safe in the mean time.

That stinks. My experience with TT service has been outstanding, so I'm sure they will send you a new one then ask for you to send that trigger back with their label so they can look at it if they can't diagnose it. I have quite a few and have gotten 2 replacements over the years and both times it went super fast and super easy.

Have you tried cleaning it? Lighter fluid down the top, maybe then blow out with air compressor?

Gritty...to me...sounds like particulants in the trigger. Not saying you are wrong...just what it sounds like to me and cleaning would be the first thing I tried.

You do use a bore guide when cleaning, right?

I would think that would take alot of grit to lock up safety. Almost sounds like something(safety pivot, maybe) galled up. Knock on wood my giessele 700s and all my bix's have been bulletproof........so far.

I do use a bore guide, haven’t attempted to clean but I found a thread from 2020 on here where the exact same thing happened to somebody’s TT special I believe

Like many SH threads somebody probably fixed the issue and didn’t report their findings
