How were the groups with the 165tgk? Mine didn’t seem to care for them

What COAL did you use. Hornady listing 3.070 for 162-166. I did that on first round and it looks wildly too deep. I backed it off to have the bottom of bullet just below the shoulder/body junction.

What is your load
Thanks
73gr n570, Peterson brass, cci250, 2.5935 cbto. Seems to be hanging around 2850fps out of my 18”.

Obviously work up to the 73gr. I started around 69gr and found great accuracy all the way up to 73.5.

900 (3 shot) and 1000 (4 shot) yard groups attached.

How’s the ADG brass to those pressures? I’m using Petersen which seems to be holding up good. Pushing 3050 from a 22” barrel (69g n560) slight extractor smear. Heavy bolt at anything over 3050 on this gun. Hornady brass primer pockets are done after 1 firing 👎🏻

For reference Hornady match 180 shoots 2860
I haven’t tried the ADG with the n570 load. Was using h1000 for that and didn’t push it at all. The Peterson is holding up great

I have some individual pieces of brass that are able to be seated with primers on my priming tool with very light pressure compared to normal seating force. These were probably reloaded from top of some exuberant ladder testing that was nearly done with a 2x4 to get the bolt to open.

I’ve only just reprimed my once-fired ADG. A few of them from pressure testing were quite spicy with slight extractor smear and tough extraction. So far no issue with primer pockets, but it’s really kinda early for me to tell.

I’ve settled on 67.3gr Retumbo under 190s for 2920.

Okay, before my lazy ass goes through 15 pages of this thread again, has anyone had success with Berger 195 gr EOL Elite Hunters at ELR distances? If so, please do let me know.

My friend with a long throated 300 WindBag is kicking my ass past a mile with 220-240gr projectiles and that just must be answered. 😄

I have some solids that I haven’t yet tried but, they are harder to spot impacts without a camera.

I'm running adg up to 3,014 with 180 eldm and retumbo....which is making a slight smear from extractor. But I'm running a Christensen mpr 26" CF which even factory Hornady match ammo has worse extractor marks. I'd go with adg for sure.

Just returned from a week of elk hunting with the 7prc. A very unsuccessful week. I will be exploring other bullets for this rifle. Barnes/nosler, here I come.
I realize they aren’t specifically a hunting bullet, but the Barnes 177gr shot really well in mine. 10 at 200:

And yes, I realize that my windage was off, but I was verifying a load and didn’t want to change during the string.

Curious what happened, unsuccessful because you didn't get a shot, or did you have bullet problems?

Shot 3 bulls. Details/shots below were witnessed and verified by 2 guides.

First was at 425yds. Right of shoulder. Thing dropped, rolled down hill, and then put all 4 legs in the air for several mins. As we were packing up to go get it, it stood up and ran away. No blood trail. hiked for hours to find him, couldn't get him back.

Second, whacked at 800yds, same spot. It fell down 50 feet on hill. Got up, ran behind brush and no blood trail at all. Hiked all day to find him, couldn't find him.

Third - 400 yards Texas heart shot. Plugged his ass. Sat there for a few mins, we thought he was dying/dead. He got up and walked out. No blood trail. HIked ALL Day, literally 7 hours, couldn't find him.

Terrain, hills and trees, did not allow for follow up shots once we saw them pop up.

Hate that you had to deal with such a bad situation but really hope this was 3 separate hunters and not 1 hunter with 1 tag..

What bullet?

Edit- assuming it was the 175 eldx?

I'll put my question for you all at the top here:

I'm curious about N570. I know guys are having great luck with that. How is the Temp stability? I'm seeing N560 loose 1fps per degree drop from 85-40 degrees. Which is disappointing.

Second question is about primers. I just can't seem to get my velocity spreads acceptable even being very particular and double weighing every powder charge. I'm beginning to suspect the CCI O.E.M 250 Magnum rifle primers I got in a plain white box labeled "not for resale" are not very good. Maybe they're belt feed machine gun primers or something? who knows. I think I'm going to try a batch of my precious remaining federal gmm210's from my reserve stash (from 2018 $39.99/1000 🥹) to see if that makes a big difference. Of course I just had to use what I could find.

For your Information:

Well after getting pretty far into development I've learned....
N560 is a little temp sensitive.

@84F 66.5g put my 195 berger @2880 from a 22" carbon Bartlein through a TBAC Ultra7.
@43F same load is getting 2830. This was a long range sessions I'm not sure how that velocity change effected accuracy but I'm left wondering what the steel groups would look like if I had kept in that 2880 range. Bummer. BTW that steel above was in shifty 5-20mph wind so I was pretty much looking for verticle dispersion.

Seating depth on my rifle for these (berger 195 EOL hybrid hunter) was forgiving. .030-.060 jump was good.
IMG_1531.jpg

With the Sierra 183smk it wanted to be right at .040. it really did not like less. .010-.030 opened up to over an inch groups.

My gun shot a little over 3000 with 180's, 183's, 184's, even the 195 got close (actually I don't see any velocity loss vs smaller pills which is a great surprise) but pressure seemed to be making things really testy over 3000. It would get erratic velocity and thrown shots. Some aggressive smears and loose primer pockets. So I backed up from the ragged edge of pressure to a happy place. Which in shooting multiple ladder test's with multiple bullets everything seemed to like the 2870-2900 velocity range so I went there.

Unfortunately I think N560 is less temp stable than I'd like.
