New CZ 457 24" 1.180 Match Barrel from L3i

I could but I won’t feel right about selling it to someone since it’s too tight to let the mag out easily. I suppose I could fill some metal and make it easier before selling.

They work great for those not running the L3i mags. Lots of benchrest guys and people who run OE 10 rounders in restricted states would be happy to use it. Just let them know ahead of time that it doesn't work well with L3i mags.

I didn’t realize that. That does make sense now that you mentioned that. My plastic factory ones do work in it. I just hate them now that I’m used to the metal ones. Thanks for the info.

@Thesepaperwings & @Mechdesigner any updates? I think we've all heard some rumors of delays, just was hoping to get an official update. I also understand you guys got a bit slammed with that Stinger Mag Release 😂

We had a lathe breakdown that delayed us two weeks. We should have our first barrel produced by Monday afternoon, so you will see some test groups very soon! Tye remainder of the barrels should follow very shortly! We plan on bringing a barrel to the PRS Finale next weekend to show everyone.

Does this mean barrels will begin shipping soon? 🤤

We’re in the same squad for the nationals so I’m looking forward to seeing this.

Say it ain't so Joe!! The barrel is actually for my friend and he has his CZ 457 torn down just waiting on the barrel. My Vision chassis won't fit anything over 1in otherwise I would have ordered 2 barrels. I do also have a .900 28in 3 grove Benchmark barrel on order that should ship in the same time frame for my next full on 2500X benchrest build.

Dare I ask how many are in batch #1 and #2? Have to wonder if I am lucky to be in group #1 (not likely) or do I make to cut to be getting one from batch #2?

I was told 50 barrels in each of the first two batches.

I don't know if we'll be seeing them in two weeks, but I would expect them to start shipping in the next two weeks. Given how long it took to get all the Stinger mags shipped though I'm gonna guess it'll take them 1-2 weeks just to ship out existing orders once they're ready to be packaged up.

It's a really small team of 3 people doing this on the side in the evenings after their day jobs from what I understand. I hope everyone can keep that in mind before saying anything disparaging. I come from a family of small business owners and know the struggles.

I do not feel what I said was disparaging nor did I intend to be disrespectful or disparaging. Given what you state about 50 units per batch and if 170 orders taken (give or take) I feel my comment is reasonable.

Let me proactively offer a sincere apology if I have offended anyone by my comment.

Oh my bad, I totally didn't mean that last part to be directed at you. Just everyone in general. I know some people were getting a little impatient with them with the slow shipping on the mags (myself included). So was just trying to proactively try to get it in everyone's head that this isn't some big company just being slow.

There's more coming in stock but since there's no lead time they won't be in preorder discount. Unofficially (since this is not a statement on behalf of a company) I think there is a pile of barrels that are chambered, lasered and ready to pack for shipping.

Oh man, sounds like I might be coming back home to a nice surprised after my work trip.

Placed my order in July 😎

Yeee! End of June for me. Almost feel like I should have ordered a second one 😅

Josh did state clearly that the barrel he received was QC’d test fired before he got it. How likely is what the “production” barrels will perform like the QC’d pre tested barrel?

Not trying to be a “Debbie-downer”, but trying to manage expectations, given Josh’s test performance was exciting.

I think that's fair regardless of any circumstances. Rimfire barrels generally have a range of performance on top of having ammo they like and don't like. So there will be some luck of the draw for people with their barrels liking the ammo they have to test and just the normal spread of potential accuracy.

I do not think that L3i would "Cherry Pick" the best test barrel they had. This would be counter productive for future sales as this wasn't a one off production run. They seem much smarter than that. With a retail price of $485, it will still be a very good deal for anyone looking for a heavy barrel for NRL/PRS type shooting. Time will tell, but if it is on the quality and accuracy level of Lilja like it seems, they won't have any trouble moving them.

Trying to decide to order this barrel and buy a CZ BA, or wait for the L3i Stinger BA. Sounds like they will both have the same barrel specs?
Will the very little bit of extra accuracy from the bench make a difference in your life? Is the cost insignificant in your personal budget? High end tools are a joy to use, but mid range tools only limit performance of the very high skilled and demanding users. As a guy that just put together a top end 22 build, I’m not sure the juice justifies the squeeze for those of us with lower middle class budgets.

So L3I pulled two samples, these were not preproduction, they were in the same production run as the rest. Out of the two samples they were both shot, gauged and scoped to make sure they passed. One was pulled off the action and sent to Josh while the other went to PRS22 Nationals. Technically the one that went to nationals has smaller test groups than the one that was sent to Josh. I'm pretty confident that these will shoot with any custom barrels out there.
