Did Steiner just quietly build the MPO we have all been asking for? H6xi

Lol nobody is playing 1700 for these. There are a few listings with no takers at 1400.
That’s sort of disingenuous considering these Mil models have only been out for a month or two. Steiner hasn’t done any marketing on them and no real “Guntuber” has reviewed it yet. My guess is by this time next year it’ll be tough to find one for sub $1400

Isn’t there one for sale in the PX for $1275, right now? (No…it’s not mine)

I couldn’t hold off any longer, there some pretty nice deals on the H6Xi STR-Mil. I took the plunge today.

Bruiser seems to like it a lot and that’s enough of a vote of confidence for me since I like his overall philosophy.

Edit: One quirk I can see is, does the 42mm objective interfere with the ability to add a piggyback dot (in front of the turret)
It interfered with the Spuhr A-0010 interface. I had to fix the problem with a dremel. It needs only moderate relief and I was done in 10 minutes. The forward tube length is very short and my Spuhr SP-3616 fits with zero room for adjustment fore or aft.

I have a ACRO on mine--there's a so-so photo posted above--and it clears. Barely, but it clears.

The MOA version is great at 2x and 10-12x. Hopefully they learn and just tweak it to be mil and without the BDC.
They have an updated illuminated one with mil as optional.... for $200 more. Reticle doesn't look the best either. Can't even see what part is illuminated. Rs1. 2

Does that rs. 1 even have a zero stop?

I had 2 of these, got rid of 1 new in box, trying to warm up to the second one. Glass isnt great, don't like the reticle, turrets are good, as is the eyebox. FOV seems small. I had high hopes after all the cultists fell in love with it on another forum. But not so much......traded the first rs1.2 for another tenmile 3-18x44, this is a good scope, like it much more.

So, 2-12x, reputable company, low profile turrets perfect for red dot mounting, MOA/MOA, illumination, and a blemeshied version can be had for 1300

Why do I not want this?

RKM556, bf2junky and anyone else that ordered through Bruiser, if you get charged for your scope or have any updates please post. I put my order in on Tuesday, so I think I'm behind you and so far nothing but crickets. I'm certainly willing to wait a couple of more days or even a couple of weeks if there's any chance this will come through. Otherwise, I too need to move on.

Will let you know! I'm gonna wait another week or two.

Thank you for the update guys. I got mine in shortly after RKM556 (end of the day last Tuesday), so I assume it will take a couple of more days, but hopefully it will go through.

Shoreglide - yes, they are fast to get order into order team, but it looks like it then takes about 10 days to 2 weeks to fill order.

Hard to tell from images on the web but it seems like the illumination is brighter at 2x in the H6Xi 2-12 than the illumination with the T6Xi 3-18 at 3x. If that is the case it would certainly help this reticle that is not optimized for MPVO use.
I too am curious about the illumination. Don't need daylight bright, as I would run a red dot offset/piggyback

My only concern was whether I had waited too long. Seeing that he forwarded so promptly put that to rest.

It's middle of the road. Not daylight bright, but good for low light.

This image is 10 minutes before sunset with the dial set at 7 out of 11.

Fed Ex tried to deliver mine yesterday and I was five minutes too late getting home. I just received them and after oogling them a bit and even mounting the 2-12, I think I'm going to like these scopes. They have competition against the Meopta Optika6 3-18x50 with the Dark Lord's awesome reticle as well as the Athlon Helos BTR Gen 2. Left to right, Meopta, Steiner, Athlon and Steiner and the second pic is a quick mount onto my 308 gas gun. I think y'all can figure out which are the 2-12's. I'll try to get photos and do a bit of a writeup as I use them. Hoping to go out Sunday but need to figure out the mount situation as I have one extra mount lying around but need one more QD so I can swap back and forth easily.

Not a bad price at all. Still the best option for mid range MPVOs until proven otherwise (mystery NF/Vortex/PA option for shot 25) Has anyone confirmed that Otto is out of the current supply of 2-12s though?

What are you initial thoughts comparing them to the Meopta or Athlon? How does the glass and usability compare on both 2-12s specifically

Definitely NOT how it works. Brand new scope that's unusable at the bottom end and hardly any hands on review do not get to automatically move up to the top seat.

If your not usable at 2 or 3x why not just go tried and true atacr 4-16x42?

It’s too late, I’ve already announced it, no take-backsies

I'll have to get it out on the range and in the field to really tell the differences but just taking each scope out and looking through them, I was surprised by how bright each Steiner was and the edge to edge sharpness on my examples seemed to be quite good. It's late but I'll attempt to surmise a few things.

It was partly cloudy today and I had no problem seeing the reticle when illuminated against the sky at higher mags. It was just lost at 2x/3x against the sky even at the highest brightness setting. I'm in Texas and don't generally shoot in snow so there's that. On the 2-12's the Steiner reticle is very crisp/sharp compared to the Athlon with illumination. The Athlon reticle, while functionally excellent, looks cheap as there's a bit of edge bleed with illumination. I'll have to go back and compare reticle brightness across the magnification range on both of them but off the top of my head, the Athlon wasn't really better mostly because the illumination isn't as bright. Theoretically, the Athlon reticle should be better at 2X given its design but time will tell.

The Steiner is obviously smaller, lighter with turrets that positively hug the scope, very low profile in comparison to the Athlon. The turret feel on the Steiner is, to me, almost identical to the Cronus BTR Gen 2 4.5-29; very firm with tactile clicks but very "sensitive" for lack of a better term as it doesn't take much change in rotation to change the settings. It seems very fine in adjustment where the Athlon and Meopta both have more movement for each click and are more intuitive with less possibility of overtravel. None the less, the Steiner turrets aren't moving unless you move them. The windage is capped and they include a conversion to an exposed turret.

In terms of accessories, the Steiner comes with a throw lever and caps, the exposed turret for windage, lens cloth, manual, etc. It has a locking diopter too which is really nice. The build quality overall is better than the Athlon and the glass is better, not that the Athlon is terrible. It is noticeable on the Athlon IMO but doesn't really bother me.

The zoom on the Steiner has nice resistance, not too much, not too little. It's slightly gritty but will likely get better and smooth out with use. I had some super expensive manual focus lenses back in the day (prior to all the autofocus stuff) and they were generally the same. The Athlon, while not bad, feels a bit cheaper in comparison and is slightly more stiff. I haven't installed the included throw lever on the Steiner yet. Really appreciate the fact the Steiner comes with everything. While the flip caps are ok, I'll likely move over to something from One Hundred Concepts when available. Still, it's nice to have that stuff out of the box. No lens hood though. I haven't checked if my other lens hoods fit either Steiner.

Could I use either at 2X to take a shot at a deer at 100 yards with certainty I'd hit and ethically kill it? Likely yes but again I need to get it out into the field. Gut instinct, the Athlon would be better and under certain lighting conditions neither might work. At anything above say 4X, I think the Steiner would be my preference. But let me get out and play with it a bit as I didn't have long to mess with it today and analyze my experience.

Another poster mentioned that a 4-16x might be better. I have a 4-16x and I much prefer a 3-18 mag range along with the 2-12 range. Dunno what it is about 4-16 range but I just don't like it. I know Steiner makes a short 4-16 so there's that!

I need to get out the measuring tape and scales. Off the top of my head, I was expecting the 3-18 to be almost 2" shorter than the Meopta. The turrets on the Meopta are skyscrapers in comparison to the Steiner. I'll take photos tomorrow or Sunday. Have an LTC class tomorrow so not much time to tinker.

I'll comment on eye box and eye relief when I have more time behind the Steiner.

Ape_Factory…great review, man!

With the Steiner TX6i 2.5-15x I had, with the mag at 2.5x the reticle was almost unseeable/unusable.

The glass is amazing! But the reticle needs to be of use at low power.

On the H6Xi, is the center reticle really .05” thick?…because that is very thin for low power use.
