Thats a bit early for me LOL. Last time I did a February track day it was 33 and raining/snowing...
Their event looks like it was $600 this year. I dont know how far off of that Chin is. My deal with going with Chin is when I travel 10+ hours to get somewhere I want to know EXACTLY what type of an event is going to be put on and Chin does such a great job its hard to want to travel 10 hours to run with any other organizer.
So, jealous. Kids college is taking up all of my spare funds right now. Once the both are done I'll be back on track.

Got the opportunity to drive a fairly rare vehicle (now that they've all rusted away) this week. The amount of interaction vintage cars need to be properly piloted almost makes it feel like work. In a good way.

It's got plenty of honest wear and tear when you get close, but no rust. The first car I've driven where finding a gear, especially the one you want, is a major accomplishment! And it had a rebuilt linkage, the owner said shifting was a real roll of the dice prior to that.

Getting a workout from a vehicle is absolutely awesome…from a track/weekend/nice weather car. If I had to deal with that shit on any sort of long commute I’d go insane. The beautiful thing about modern cars and technology is how easy it is to be fast. Wife and I have been shopping for a 3 row mid size SUV. Thought we kinda settled into the Toyota Grand Highlander hybrid based on all reviews, MPG, etc... Finally found a used one at a Toyota dealership to go test drive. Drives fine, size fine, features, looks, etc... Sales guy already knew we werent buying that one so no pressure. We start discussing "how do I get on the list for a new one" and that isnt to bad 90-120 day wait, 1k down, etc...
Here's were things go off the rails. The car is built with only 2 factory options(360 camera and pano roof). Those are fine. Then the "port" adds a ton of shit that I dont want to the tune of, from what we could tell, generally 3-4k more. Then the dealer(and most Toyota and other dealers are this way today) have a mandatory $1299 package of shit they add on also. And all of that(port and dealer add) are mandatory and the port options are "random" and when your car shows up(the color and trim you want) its take it or leave it and wait for another one, meanwhile they have your money. I dont like that process and simply dont understand why I cant order what I want. I actually wanted a few of the things where as others(roof rails, tow hitch, premium carpet mats, etc...) I have no desire to have because I will never use them or replace them immediately. So what we figured out when we got home was you could get a car to show up that was anywhere from 58k(+ dealer add) to 62k(+ dealer add) and anywhere in between. Then add on to that no good financing rates so I am guessing ~7% according to bank rate. Then they probably fuck you on your trade because they have you by the balls on the new car in the "take it or leave it" situation.
TLDR: I'm going to look at a 24 Yukon SLT 5.3 thats pretty loaded up minus sunroof for 64k this morning... At "about" the same price as we figure a Grand Highlander will be at the end of the day we get a full size SUV with body on frame, pretty bullet proof 5.3, 10L80 is proving out to be pretty good, etc... MPG sucks at ~17 vs. ~31 for the Grand Highlander hybrid, but best guess is its about $75-85 a month which isnt the end of the world.

Agree completely that Toyota's sales model is utter shit.

Jeep GC-L Summit... 65k after discounts...23mpg... shit ass Jeep quality. there is a reason they are 20k off MSRP.
Palisade/Telluride... lots of engine and trans issues being reported(my buddies is burning 1qt in 500miles I think he said). 20mpg... 55k+
Pilot... boring as shit re-design. not as big as grand highlander. 55k+. v6 gets like 20mpg maybe...
GV80... nice but not that big and same 60k+ price point. Same issues as Hyundai/Kia.
X7... way to expensive plus BMW and all its faults(were still butt hurt over the various quirks our 330H had)

I asked the driver(who was the company owner) how he liked it and he said "bullet proof" and "nobody drives this truck but me and I keep it clean and under good repair"... They put 50k+ miles a year on "tahoe/suburban" and have few issues.

We’ve had this truck going on 36 years, bought those mirrors in 1990 at Western Auto for $10 each….they’re staying at this point.

Carbs are live. Plenty of work to do yet but this is a neat milestone.
Ended up snagging the Yukon SLT last Tuesday for a pretty good deal. So far liking it. Already put in a Range DFM/start-stop de-activation module and full Weather-tech HP floor liners. 5.3 as the 6.2 isnt available in the SLT trim and I didnt see the extra 15k in the Denali personally speaking. No sunroof which we didnt want anyway and seems to be fairly rare to find one without.
Got my garage cleaned up a little and re-organized some things and got the 350 and Yukon in. Its a tight squeeze. Still have plenty of room to walk behind to get into the house and the tailgate will fully open.

Texas garages fit HD trucks....must be f'n nice.
No sunroof is good, all those do is reduce payload anyway.
I think a Yukon or Tahoe with the 3.0 LZ0 diesel and Max Trailering would make just about a perfect tow pig.

It fits with about 2" to spare. I back up against a 1x4 screwed to the wall where the hitch bumps it and then I have about 2" in the front. I swear I am the only person in my neighborhood who parks every car inside... 4 cars in a 3 car garage LOL.
I dont really care about payload in this thing. It also wasnt really a thought on why I ordered my F350 without. Sunroofs in Texas are fucking useless as if you open the shade you will get cooked to death. Then every one of these "pano roofs" from every manufacturer leaks, breaks, etc... and either cant be "fixed" or has to be replaced as a whole... fuck all that noise.
LZ0 isnt out yet in the Tahoe/Yukon, well it is for 25, but I have read its not going to actually be available until mid year. 25's have a new dash. I saw like 4 out in the wild. Im not paying MSRP. I got 10,700 off MSRP on this 24. Thatll buy a lot of gasoline.
This one is luxury package, max tow, 2nd row captains chairs, power sliding center console... Its just about exactly how I would have optioned it.
I dont know if I will ever tow with this. I might drag my car trailer over to the track once and see how it does. I read a few things that said the Yukon isnt fantastic due to short wheel base, but im not towing anything crazy. The other thing I read on towing with these newer ones with the IRS is when they squat the camber goes negative and you end up wearing out the insides of the tires... no thanks. The brakes on this thing are "adequate" at best IMO without a trailer. Superduty brakes are a huge step above these brakes. Supposedly you can source the PPV brakes which are basically the 6 piston brembo upgrade, for like 1k bucks and put them on... 6 piston with 16" rotors.
360 camera's in this thing SHIT ALL OVER Ford... its absolutely zero contest. Its complete shit that Ford in 2023 with the redesign couldnt put in good cameras... The screen is capable of high resolution, but the Ford camera's are just absolute hot garbage... The Ford camera's also dont align very well so the 360 image is a bit wonky... The GMC is fantastic in this regard.

My 2500 will fit in our two car but that means the wife has to park outside or in the shop. She told me I had to park in the shop, guess I’ll let her win this battle.
I need to do the same to my pole barn. My F250 is just over 22" feet long (without a hitch) so it doesn't fit in a standard two car garage.
I had been looking to move on from my 03 Mustang GT TT. Narrowed it down to Mopar choices or newer mustangs. What I wanted was a little high on the $$$ scale. My local dealer parked this out front a couple weeks ago and I realized it checked all the boxes. Been driving for a couple days and I think I'm going to enjoy this for a long time....

Decent S2k's have been in that price range and up for quite a while... well before Covid. I was looking for in like 2019 or early 2020 and was about to fly to ATL to buy one that wasnt priced really stupidly and was in good shape. Ended up with a brand new ND2 Miata for not much more money at the end of the day.
Beautiful Rig!!! Wife and I drove the 2025 Yukon AT4 yesterday and were very impressed. Last 2 vehicles were Toyota Sequoias....2007 and currently driving the 2015, both bought new and been in the shop exactly ZERO times. Hard not to buy another Sequoia as I really dig the new body style, but they blew it with the twin turbo V6 and hybrid system. Also, the flat rear cargo area is GONE when the 3rd row is folded down.....we drove the top tier Capstone yesterday as well. Talk about turbo lag, wow! You stab the loud pedal and it thinks about it for second like a lazy teenager. I does however get it pretty good once she wakes up. Suprisingly rough ride vs the Yukon. Ive been following the S2k market for over a decade. They never really had a real depreciation slump. Mid 20-teens higher miles ones could be had in the teens, but decent ones have pretty much all stayed in the $20k and up range. Almost the same thing for the Evo market.
There have actually been a lot of people on the Tahoe/Yukon group I am on on Facebook selling/trading new Sequoias for Yukon's/Tahoe/Suburban's... They say "rough ride", "no flat rear cargo area due to battery", "sketched out by the new engine", etc... basically your same complaints. They all say the GM lineup is so much better. I honestly didnt even look at the Yota because they were 75-85-95k dollars... thats stupid money. Thats entry level Escalade money and I can GUARANTEE even the highest end Yota doesnt hold a candle to the low end Escalade as far as interior materials and experience goes. I think Toyota has gone off the rails a bit in the past 2-3 years honestly. Read up a bit on my experience thinking through a Grand Highlander...
Here was my thinking on an SLT(now called Elevation I think) vs. higher trim.. Well first the deal on this one was stupid good and I didnt want to pop 10-15k more dollars. Second I didnt want to deal with some of the stuff the higher trims came with. Air ride seems "problematic" at least long term. Mag ride has been sorted IMO, but replacement shocks can still be almost 1k bucks(half of that from various other sources). GM, from what I have seen in the Corvette world, is always hesitant to replace and says "weeping" is normal... SLT has standard old school strut/spring suspension... I didnt want a sunroof... basically above SLT everything had a sunroof(AT4 and Denali). I didnt want the 6.2, 5.3 is fine for my application, takes 87 vs. 91+ required in the 6.2, and gets 1-2mpg better than the 6.2. Interior in the AT4 and Denali is nicer than the SLT, but the SLT is no slouch IMO. Were happy with it so far with just under 2 weeks of ownership. Avg about 18.5 mpg which was better than we mathed out at 17, although not by much.
