Think I’m gonna sponsor a Team

What does team sponsorship mean to you? Will it be offering top competitors your branding to get exposure? Or taking enthusiastic focused low/mid pack competitors to the top 10 using your training mentoring. From what I gather, the AMU has done the later in the past.

Hmm,

I have an idea, but I think for 2025 I might sponsor a team

It would be cool to see you sponsor a comp team:

1. Take a group of mid-pack shooters.
2. Give them your training
3. Help them set up rifles properly.
4. Set them loose.a

All of these YT channels doing challenges like Erik, Texas Plinking... etc. are missing out. They are bringing in quite a few shooters that do not have proper training. It would be cool to see you do a series like one of these, but offer training to them for a before and after. That would be great advertising.

Mostly mid pack

What it means, provide:

Support
Training
Resources

To compete in PR competitions
This is a great idea. There are some real barriers for most people, between mid-pack and the top that could be addressed by your experience and resources. Time and money will always be a factor but most people trying to advance need : access to good training, access to facilities and gear, accountability to a group, “guardrails” to keep them from going off into YouTube nonsense land. You are well positioned to provide all of those things.

It is. I'm just funnin' ya. A bit of a tangent, but I always laugh when some idiot gets bent out of shape because of what a CEO or a Coach makes compared to a line worker.

A good coach can take a bunch of mediocres and turn them into champions. My kid's school is now in the semi-finals for state football. If you would have told me they would make it that far after their first game I would have told you that you were crazy. There are no super players or great talents on the team. They're all totally average Joe, but their coach is one of the winningest high school coaches in my state, and how a bunch of middlin' players have come together under his watch is incredible. They're not just beating much better teams, they're crushing them.

I'd say that your criterion should be mostly people who have the time and want to put in the effort, not how good they are, but how much commitment they have. It's a massive commitment to become a great marksman, and to podium today. I know that even if I had the desire I don't have the time, and can't make that kind of huge commitment, but there are plenty of guys who can, and I think you are going to probably have more guys than you think trying out. That said, the rub is going to be on who can put in the time and effort to train and get better. I'd say hunger ought to be the main attribute you're looking for.

So...a loosing team?
Can’t spell losing? ‘Nuff said, as they say.
Losing ?

I thought just being there is a win ?

How is it a losing Team ?

I can sponsor Chris Way, he podiums a lot ?

I figured supporting the Mid Pack would be supporting the forgotten people so a welcome prospect
Sponsoring podium winners just makes you another money-man for people who are already elite. Sponsoring some guys who are close and coming up highlights your real strengths which are training and practical mentorship.

For sure

I’m more interested in location, a place that has multiple matches which are easily accessed, so a shooter that has access to more vs a person in a crappy location that has to travel by air.

I would rather the person have a history of 6+ matches a season vs a winner

The top guys are covered

I really like this idea, somewhat against the grain. It will be cool to watch them progress with your support.

Re: discipline, just find shooters that shoot more than 1 series/league

I'm somewhat biased, but I think TX makes sense. Lots of competitions, large population base, plus you're already set up @ RO

Kinda thinking about it, and I have several thoughts, I’m good like that

Translate a sponsorship into more of a mentor program, give them drills to try, use for practice, talk about the previous match in way that goes beyond the conservation you have with your buddy, to include a diagnostic element to it. Think gear, caliber, stocks, and how to help better improve the relationship between; you and the gear.

It’s also about building a competitor as well as creating a process you can replicate for others to use.

Nah, I don’t need a top 25 guy, I want a bottom 25 shooter with drive and some free time

That is where the money is for business selling PR related products and services.

Not surprisingly, that is also the group that is the main catalyst for growing the sport.

I'm game & like to mix it up between gas gun and bolt. Good options here with Mason Dixon, WAR, Geissele, & IWI.
Just joined a home range for Mason Dixon that has the full array of props for practice.

This is an interesting idea. Speaking for myself making the jump from mid pack to top of the pack is very difficult on your own. I have often thought that working as a team would help all the members advance faster and avoid some of the mistakes that can slow you down. A training schedule/routine and goals to meet would force you to advance.

I shoot at a club with some really good shooters and they are willing to help you get better, but I'm still not sure how to make the next jump. I think I need more practice time and a practice/training routine.

There are a million questions a mentor could help with, is my rifle setup correctly for the shooting discipline, am I shooting the right bullet, the right caliber, etc.?

He gets it ….

I had a dream, while sleeping of course

I wonder if I start off with the 4 main guys but included 4 virtual guys.

The virtual guys get digital support, mentorship, drills, etc, vs the extra money support the others get

So I have 4 main shooters and 6 virtual guys that get free support here ? Drills, tips and tricks ?

What qualifies someone for just the tip(s)? Asking for @NoLegs24 😆

Ya the virtual coaching would be open to the virtual guys, I just won’t pay for materials or travel.

like I had a plan to outfit the team with an action, they can choose the caliber and stock (discussed of course) then ammo, travel, but the virtual guys would just be mentored online

That does widen the draw for sure. It also would be interesting to see which type of support helped shooters the most. Up here in Canucastan, outside of southern BC and eastern Ontario, travel cost is the biggest challenge. Quite a few matches scheduled in ‘25 north of the 49th though.
