IMO, NATO for all intensive purpose lost the majority of its reason to exist when the Berlin Wall came down and the USSR broke up.
Our government/leaders then should have greatly reduced our military bases and presence in Europe. If that had been done just think of all the money the American people could've saved.

Before our first deployment, we had several weeks of training here in Lviv. Most volunteers most have no experience
One team of coaches were guys from the USMC, others from AZOV.
I was selected as someone who is familiar with weapons and knows the language, for training with the passing on of knowledge.
I was able to compare their knowledge and skills.
Identical, highly productive, motivated and intelligent people. Very professional. As for Azov, it was a pleasant surprise. . Some of them got out of the blockaded Mariupol.
As for the USMC, they were a team, but they were here on an unofficial mission.
