TRG appreciation thread - Part III

The few cash that is left after shooting runs into aquascapes and shrimps🤣

The 3-12x50 has the best eyebox for me up to this day. Phenomenal glas!

What surprises me is the fact, that most TRGs i see even in military use dont even use a single spacer. Makes me wonder if my shooting position is weird or i am missing something...
Don't feel bad I'm always way higher than anyone else too. High cheek bones and small head apparently. Do what works for you

Does anyone know where a Vision front half might be found? Looks discontinued, but hoping there is something around in stock still.
Looks like OpticsPlanet might have one in stock:

Thank you. Ordered one but quantity didn't change. Hopefully it is actually in stock. Fingers crossed.

Edit: looks like it went from 2 to 1 in stock so hopefully it was in stock.

sighs, Sako could sell their chassis; currently they want 2300 for a folding stock and 1,000 for a ITRS rail kit, hell, 3,300 for all is a great price.
Currently you have to buy the A1 for 5,500; to get all the features :(

Pautac Precision Chassis for the Sako TRG 22/42

old link that still has good info in it

They didn't have any this year or the bipod. I was waiting patiently.
The Vision forend with an Atlas bipod mounted on the integral Arca rail is a superior solution to the Sako bipod. I think you'll be happier with that setup.

Hell, I have a spare B&T TRG bipod spigot that mounts in the TRG bipod slot that I can send you if you want it. It has a little pic rail so you can mount an Atlas or whatever up there.

Thank you for the offer, but I have one on my trg currently and a small arca rail on the anschutz rail.

I did like the bipod on my last trg, but not at $500. So since I couldn't find one figured look for a vision forend.

Cool, I hope it works out for you. Post pics when you get it.
I have had the Gen 1 Vision TRG handguard for awhile and it's been great.

Showed up today. Just did a quick mock up since I have to pull the barreled action to remove the b&t spigot. Looks like a nice low bore over height. So far happy with the way it looks.

The top of the barrel is sitting at 1" in both pictures. So the bottom of the vision arca is right around the same height at the bottom of the B&T pic rail.

Not sure why the one I got has Mloc. It's useless with the backbone behind it. The 2 forward mloc slots are clear like yours. Looking forward to playing with this rifle.
Mine is the first generation version of the Vision handguard. It looks like for yours they deleted the ridges along the sides and slimmed things down some. It's a bummer that most of the the M-Lok slots appear to be blocked by the backbone - you're sure you can't get any M-Lok accessories in there to fit? There are several major benefits with the Vision handguard IMO - you get a MUCH lower COG than the factory HG, so the rifle sits and balances really nicely off of a bag/barricade, and recoil is much more linear. You also now have the integrated full-length ARCA rail. I love the way the rifle sits on the tripod. I also really like the integral barricade stop. Looking forward to your range report once you've had a chance to shoot the rifle a bit. I've had the Vision HG on my TRG since they were first released and love it.

Found a 500ct box of 168gr TMK bullets when i was digging for my chronograph so I decided to give them a try. Looks like it won't be hard to get them to shoot. I'll have to check the coal. I just set it short enough to run in the mag.

Started raining so I packed and took off before I was able to take some action shots.

Anybody with experience with the mmrs rail in here? I could get one...
I just feel like its counterproductive for what the classic TRG stands for. Low weight.

It makes the rifle a lot longer and i assume pretty much heavier. Since i should receive my M10 later this year, i wonder if its worth the money and effort.

Currently i am tending to leave the rifles classic as they are with all the benefits of being lighter.

The MMRS looks badass though...

Cheers

Has anyone changed the barrel on a A1? I at one point tore entering apart but couldn't getthe receiver out of the "ring" that the handguard bolts to. Thinking I want to switch my 26" 308 to a 6.5creed in a shorter flavor.

My trg42 with its great great grandpa, a sako m39. For those that have swapped the barrel on a trg, will a heavy palma clear the sako bipod? I'd like to go a bit heavier but still want to use this bipod.

Guys,

Does the Sako 3 ring mount offer any solution for adding a level to it?
I need to add some height due to my night vision ITRS mount and would like to stay with Sako, since it skips the need for a picatinny rail.

Would need the device for angle shots aswell. Eratac offers one thats pretty nice for their mount. Maybe there is something similar for Sako aswell.

Currently use a spuhr mount but its too low and they only offer it in one height these days so....

otherwise i would go with a Sako picatinny rail and the sako mount.

Cheers

Get a NEAR precision pic rail base for it and whatever rings work best with your NV device.

Took the trg out today. Noticed a pattern, top 3 were shot all together, gun allowed to cool and bottom 3 shot. 2 different loads for each row. As the barrel heats up she gets tighter. Never had a gun gettighter as it warms up... not sure what to make of this.

Enjoy it?

If you are "cooking" the rounds, you might be a bit low on powder.

And if you tell what the loads are someone might comment.

I enjoy the action and trigger, cheek liece could be more comfortable. Also find this gun likes to be held tighter thanmy others.

Both are 44.3gr N150 in lapua large primer brass. One with a 175 RDF and the other with a 169smk. Details on seating depth are on the target. Both are mid 2700fps and both single SDs

So you're ~1-2 gr powder over published data?

You do you I guess...

Grab a few different reloading manuals and get ready to blow your mind. Then look at the jug of varget that lists their own max load, just like the rest of the line of powders, which are usually much higher then the books.

But you do you, I guess . . .

Edit to add data. An example of Vhit. Load data with lapua brass.
