So out in far west ND, right? Near Teddy Roosevelt Nat’l Park?

If so, that tends to be the warmer part of ND. The far eastern bit of ND is so brutal and much worse than the far western part.

A huge part of it is the wind. A large part of the far east is on the bottom of Lake Agassi, which is an ancient dried-up flat lakebed that extended up into Canada. But the east colder too.

Here’s a typical map of ND avg temps in Feb:

Fargo is bad, but Grand Forks and Minot are even worse. Plus there’s nothing to do!

The -70°F record in Montana is on top of a continental pass…nobody lives there. ND inflicts its pain on regular towns of 25k to 150k people. It’s crazy that people live there and don’t move.

But I’ll give you that Cut Bank, MT (pop. ~3000) sounds like it sucks. At least you’re closer to mountains and beautiful scenery.

Not so sure Cut Bank is the coldest town in the lower 48 either. Maybe on average? Can’t find stats.

As I mentioned, there’s a number of towns in ND with -60° or -59° records. Cut Bank’s record is -47°F.
I’ve got a Liton/Grumman Mark VII LRF with your name on it. Should you need one that works in crazy temperatures… 🥴

I just got mine after calling them up and asking what was going on… also ordered mine in May, but the end of May.

At the same time I ordered the LRF, I also ordered the range enhancers/extenders… during the multiple calls to check in for an ETA on when these things would finally be delivered to me, I had asked them not to hold the order up for everything to arrive at the same time.

Come to find out that they did exactly that: euro optic will hold your order if you ordered more than one thing at the same time. Told them not to do that for the range enhancers, and miraculously the Vector-X showed up in a few days.

It’s sort of amazing that they would hold up sending what amounts to a $3000 set of binoculars, for $5.50 in shipping fees.
I ordered my 10x42 dmr and range extenders in April, received just the binos in late Sept. Still waiting on extenders, I never put in any special request to seperate delivery of each item, they just did it.

YMMV…

What the guys at EuroOptic did tell me in my most recent conversation with them is that the range extenders seem to have fallen by the wayside in production and are lagging behind.

The guy at Europop that I spoke to did tell me that the order was set up so that it was waiting for all the pieces to come in before being shipped. Of course, I’m kind of curious as why others may not have had that set up? However, I’m actually glad to get my hands on it.

I’m really looking forward to see how it does in cold weather.

I talked to euro yesterday. They said they are getting “regular” shipments now and that my late June preorder would be filed In the next shipment or one after (12x DMR). Optimistically he said they were due for a shipment this week. We will see I guess.

I got my 12x 2 weeks ago, after I called Europop they and told them to send everything separately…

It was either happenstance or they were holding me up because I was waiting for the range extenders

I was told over the phone that the range extenders haven’t been showing up most likely because they’re concentrating on getting the actual binoculars out… So I killed that and bought a scope after getting a store credit for the range extenders

The inclination on my 10x42’s was off by about 5 degrees when I received them. If I recall correctly, someone earlier in the thread had a similar problem. After speaking with Vectronix, they said they were releasing a firmware update to allow the user to adjust inclination within the unit. The release of the update was delayed a few times. But now that it’s installed, the latest firmware update allows for the inc change and my compass seems to be much more accurate as well which should help the mapping accuracy. Still pleased with the unit as a whole after shooting a few matches with them. Glad I went with the SMR for a less obstructed view.

Mine was off by 13 degrees. Did the update and now it will freeze the angle at zero about 75% of the time no matter the angle…
