Powder IN-STOCK thread

I'm about to load up 25rd of each primer from American I havent shot yet...

Small rifle seconds (white river)
RUAG small rifle blem
Murom small rifle

Same load and bullet in all

Haha oh the timing? I finally got to it too. I loaded 25 last night with the seconds LRM primers vs 25 of my usual wolf LRM. I'll be shooting them this weekend.

Well, these RUAG SRP are a heck of a deal.

All.went bang out of my JP15 and had a better ES/SD over the identical 25 rounds loaded with CCI41...

AND....American just put more up on their site and dropped thr price to $169.99 per 5000 if you buy 2 or more..

I just bought A LOT. Hahahah

The “std” RUAG small rifle work great as well—in my BR/BRAs. Got them for the first time about 6-7 years ago for like $99 per 5000. Bough them on a lark and was amazed at accuracy and SD. Then they disappeared until about the last 18 months. They pop up here and there and I built a nice stockpile. They are also a smidge bigger than 450s so when that lapua has 15-20 firings they tend to tighten things back up a bit.

Anyways…like I need more of these greenfire…as long as Padom left some. Ha ha.

That was the one thing I noticed that I forgot to post. When you're reloading brass that has a lot of firings on it they fit nice and tight where CCIS are more of a slip in fit so nice for those starting to get loose pockets. Great for me cuz I'm using these for multiple times fired brass run on my automated 1050 for 556 planking ammo

I don’t see the buy two or more for 169 deal in my a retard? I do see free shipping.

ETA NVM I see you have to add it to your cart. And it looks like the shipping is free with no hazmat which is absolutely amazing. 15,000 primers for just over $500 is three cents apiece and we haven’t seen prices like that for more than five years

You're not kidding that's why I bought 50k

How are these in hot loads seeing as how they are not magnum primers?

Does the "greenfire" affect their shelf life?

All of my research has led me to believe they have as thick of a cup as magnum primer would, like a cci450, and they take the pressures.

Also curious on what the Greenfire thing is or what it means

I just got a bunch too. I am good on everything else but primers have been the most difficult to find at decent prices. Hope they are like the BR4s or 450s.

Alright @padom , my report is in. However, you're gonna hate me... 😂😂😂

I had to get some too. I bought a large amount of 77gr smk seconds off midway and tac a while back so hopefully these work as well as the CCI 450’s in that load. Gonna try them in my 6ARC and 6.5 creed too.

I just received 5k of the RUAG SR primers.

I can’t speak with any real knowledge or first hand experience but I’ve recently read that the “greenfire” is in reference to being lead free material and these primers have a shorter shelf life.

I haven’t see any evidence or documentation stating any real info, but a few posters on AR15.com have posted about it.

Regardless, still a solid deal and I wouldn’t worry about shelf life if you shoot a decent amount.

The RUAG 4122 "Greenfire" are SINTOX compound primers. SINTOX, the first low-pollutant and heavy metal-free primer composition, was developed over 40 years ago. To this day, based on customer requirements, the company uses revolutionary energetic components to develop and implement non-toxic concepts that are free of lead and other heavy metals.

The loaded ammunition that RWS makes (using RUAG primers) that conforms to NATO AEP-97 specifications have a advertised maximum 10 year shelf life. 10 year shelf life is a limit set by NATO AEP-97 and STANAG 4297, AOP 15, STANAG 4620 AOP 48, which is probably where the supposed/perceived shorter shelf life thing came about. Powder degradation for loaded ammunition under various (critical) storage conditions (specified in the NATO standards) also has to be taken into account for shelf life, so more likely than not, the actual effective life of the primer (and ammo) extends well beyond the 10 year "maximum" shelf life time span if stored under optimal conditions.

Edit - Even ammo with normal non-corrosive lead styphenate based primers (RAUG's version is branded SINOXID) that conform to NATO AEP-97 specs have an advertised 10 year shelf life, but real world results show that the ammo is good for well beyond 10 years if stored well.

Thanks for the info, I don’t see any reason not to buy these with the current market prices. I might be in for anothe 10K.
