So just like how all the "conservatives" gleefully forged their own chains under Bush as they rushed to demand "the patriot act" and then only later did they come to understand how it will all be used against them.
Will the "conservatives" who are all cheering at Trump "making AI great" one day come to realize that they built the very system that will brutally enslave and control them?

"AI" will essentially be a tool that will let a small group of tyrants be able to efficiently be brutally tyrannical in ways never before possible, without needing so many of those pesky jackboots that want payments and are always whining about their pensions and might every once in awhile have a conscience.
Look at China and the control there and the fear people live in of stepping out of line, even when they go abroad.
That's what "AI" is going to bring here.
Instead of the FBI and other Jackboots screwing up your life if you are not a huge supporter of the "ruling party" their "AI" systems will be programmed to just start ruining your life the moment their programming thinks you aren't licking the boots of the oppressors clean enough.
The Jackboots will only rarely be needed for the few cases of folks that try to do something about it.
I hope it's better than the stupid "AI" "assistants" that FedEx and UPS use to make sure customers are insanely, ragingly mad and angry beyond belief by the time they finally talk to one of the stupid Indians at the call centers.

true no doubt. this or similar has been predicted by several over close to 100yrs. the only way to prevent that is to take down the whole digital world,planet wide. a "Butlerian jihad" is what would be needed. i would love that myself. boomers and older Xers should ask themselves if their world and life are really better than before the digital takeover. ask yourself what has been added or improved that is worth the slavehood that is on the horizon and not hard to predict. is 24hr streaming movies,web buying and selling,constant advertising,instant "communication" everywhere all the time,detailed world wide maps that aren't esp accurate,demands that you have a traceable and insecure "account" in order to do anything,
that any documents can be printed by you at your expense,etc,etc. the list is endless really.
millennials,Zs and many olders can't imagine functioning without this total digital overlay in their lives. if it continues thus,newer gens will be totally unable to function or live without it.

not an expert,but the last things i have seen still claim that the human mind is still capable of more advanced things than any comp. the human brain is still only understood at a rather primitive level. working to improve it has been neglected in the search for a machine to do more than it can.
